My daughter and I loved our stay at Palazzo Murat. This was a treat celebrating my daughters graduation. While you pay a little more for accommodations, you get what you pay for. The included breakfast was wonderful, with great service and a large variety of foods. We had a garden view room in the new part which felt very private and relaxing. Front desk was very helpful with directions for hikes and bus route information (Gave us handouts for everything). Spent two afternoons at the pool, which was idyllic with the view of the sea and the adjacent church bells marking every hour. Our favorite part was meeting the lovely staff - most noteably Noemi, the darling young lady who was staffing the pool and bar area. In addition to being attentive to all needs, she went above and beyond in providing great suggestions for restaurants, day trips, shopping and life in Amali coast. Her memorable personality and great tips made for a perfect trip to Amalfi coast.

This review is long overdue as my husband and I stayed here last June (2013). However, we had such a lovely stay that I wanted to make sure I shared with others. As others have stated, it's a beautiful haven in a central Positano location that allows you to walk around town and down to the beach. The room we had was gorgeous, very clean and spacious in the main building overlooking the gardens. The bath was on the smaller side but otherwise just fine with beautiful inlaid traditional tiles. The on-site gardens and flora gave the hotel such a lovely scent (though the city itself was in full bloom by June so I'm sure that helped!) We had dinner in the restaurant outdoors one night sitting outside next to their garden and it was wonderful. Staff was friendly and helpful. We flew into Naples and arranged for a car service through the hotel; it was a little pricey but it was also a fair distance away and it was nice to not worry about renting a car and figuring out how to navigate the narrow, winding roads! Once you're in town, you don't need a car anyway. Can't wait to go back to this part of the world which is a little slice of heaven on earth, and I'd stay at this hotel again.

Getting there may difficult, particularly over Easter weekend, but once inside it is a tranquil haven of old world charm and beautiful plants. The garden restaurant serves great food and the staff go out of their way to please. We arrived late on Easter Sunday night and were welcomed with big smiles, homely pasta dishes and great Italian wines. Weather permitting, breakfast is an equally charming affair in the upper garden next to the foyer.
Be aware that the Amalfi Coast is a traffic nightmare over the Easter weekend (it took us 6 hours to travel 60 kilometres). Do book parking through the hotel beforehand, as Positano fills up and parking is very limited.
The hotel van be noisy, particularly when guests slam room doors, or more the heavy garden furniture outside their rooms. Other than that, really just a great place to stay!

Room Tip: Garden rooms offer nice secluded views and an opprtu ity to enjoy your book and coffe in private. Th...

Stayed here for 3 nights in April. Hotel clean, rooms good size with clean updated bath. Balcony in room 22 overlooks front of property with the wonderful smell of lemons from the trees below. Breakfast typical for Italy hotels. The location here is key! Main sidewalk full of shops with short walk to beach below. Front desk happy to make arrangements for ferries to Capri as well as restaurant reservations. Fabulous location for an amazing town. Could have spent entire vacation here.....

We arrived from Amalfi and thought we had the best stay there but this hotel continued to exceed our expectations. Our room was fantastic a corner room on the second floor of the old hotel with a balcony looking out over the pool and a view of the 13th century church next door and views of the sea beyond. The room was spotless, large and well appointed. The bed was very comfy and although we were right beside the church and the bells rang during the day they did not ring at night. Breakfast was out on the patio, even though it was chilly there were heaters that could be brought right up to the table, with many options both hot and cold and great coffee. The staff was very helpful with making dinner suggestions/reservations and easily arranged transport of our luggage by porters down to the ferry for a small fee. The location was perfect right on the main walkway, easy to access shops and restaurants. We will be back!

We stayed at the Palazzo Murat for three nights in early April. The staff was very polite and professional. The room had a nice view on the gardens, and the fragrance of lemon trees below was very pleasant. The only minor downside was with the technology - the wifi connection was not very good and the TV service was disappointing. Other clients seem to have similar problems, witness the number of people huddled in one of the reception rooms to catch a better wifi signal. Anyway, tech issues aside, we were in a great hotel in the centre of Positano, with plenty to see. We would definitely return !
