Positano Art Hotel Pasitea
Ranked #20 of 38 Hotels in Positano
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 30 December 2008

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon in November. While Positano was definitely in the off-season (a lot of hotels and restaurants closed), we still had a great time. The views were gorgeous, the hotel was very comfortable, and the staff was reasonably friendly.

Stayed at Hotel Pasitea along with two children; 14 and 11. We rented two rooms adjoining, but not connected. Both had large balconies overlooking the ocean - spectacular views. We did not rent the jacuzzi suites which were one floor up with much larger balconies; would do so upon a return trip. The location was very good - about a 15 minute walk down hundreds of steps to the beach or walking on narrow winding streets for 15 minutes. Either way provides spectacular scenery. The trip back up is either a 20 minute walk back up the streets (stairs too difficult) or the local bus that runs every 5 - 10 minutes and drops you off in front of the hotel. There are several very good local restaurants within a 5 minute walk of the hotel. Most offer outdoor dining overlooking the ocean.
The concierge is very helpful with everything in the town. He recommended an open air family restaurant on the top of the mountain with spectacular views and unlimited excellent food and wine (only $40 per person - a steal).
The breakfast that comes with the room is adequate and they serve unlimited cappacino along with breakfast.
We traveled the entire Amalfi Coast with both a driver for a day and rental Vespa scooters. There is no city close to the size and uniqueness of Positano - definitely the city to stay in. Almafi would be the second choice, but a step down in ocean beauty as the city is relatively flat and Positano is built into a mountain going straight up.
The value is excellent and the location is superb. Would definitely go back.
I did not have positive thoughts about the Best Western chain from U.S. experiences, but this property is better than any I stayed at in the U.S.

We recently stayed at the Pasitea Hotel in Positano. It was wonderful, the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the Reception staff. We upgraded our room to a Spa suite with a huge terrace (the original room allotted to us was lovely too, but the terrace was tiny so we decided to upgrade, and it wasn't expensive to do so). We had the best view and spacious room. The reception staff recommended a restaurant where we were picked up and delivered back - the food was wonderful!!!! and reasonably priced!!!! We loved our stay in Positano at the Pasitea and would recommend this hotel and this location - can't wait to go back !!!!

We just came back from our stay at this hotel. We had the standard room with a queen bed. I thought it was really nice. It had a balcony with a great view. Average breakfast but good pastries and also boiled eggs(which i did not find anywhere in italy), ham, cheese, very nice coffee. They charge $3 for an hour of internet. The staff is very friendly. Nice stay. We called them to book our stay and got a great rate of $108, two adults and one toddler and one child (cheap).

Just to add a bit on how to get to positano. We went from Rome to salerno by train, then got a great taxi to Positano. I thought it was very easy. the taxi cost us $110 but the roads are a bit windy so i preferred taxi to bus.

Lovely boutique hotel in a beautiful location in the midst of the hillside in Positano. Good value too. Tony & his team looked after us well. Didn't get a jacuzzi room though (even though our 3-night stay was part of our honeymoon!) but managed to get an adequate sized room with sun-drenched balcony with sunbeds. 15 min walk to the beach & bus stop right outside the hotel. No in-house restaurant (but cold breakfast served) but plenty of options through Positano. Hotel staff give great recommendations & even organise special evenings at selected mountain-top eateries with stunning views (La Tagliata et al) with shuttle buses to drop & collect their guests. Views spectacular esp at Sunset!

Great rate, however....we woke up at 5 am to someone blowing their nose. Paper thin walls. Their hairdryer is not so good, but I found this the trend in Italy. I have long hair and and went au natural bc it would take forever to dry. Nice view though. Good hotel, since we are hardly there, but I was not appreciative of the noise next door so early in the am. Noise is OK, but waking up to it is not. I thought this person was in the same room.

We stayed at this hotel for one night on our way to Amalfi. Although somewhat impersonal, the hotel still captures the artistic essence of Positano, both in room interiors and in the decoration of common spaces.
The location is fine for taking the bus, and it is some 20 minutes walk to the beach and the centre of Positano. The views from the balcony are beautiful, and we have found no flaws with the room or the bathroom. The staff did not seem particularly friendly, but perhaps this was just my personal impression. All other guests we encountered at breakfast were American.
Overall, a very good impression of teh hotel.

Overlooking the bay of Positano, the Positano Art Hotel Pasitea is a perfect example of Mediterranean architecture, with its masonry, lava stone and wrought iron furnishing. Completely renovated, the Hotel has the typical terrace-structure which can be immediately recognized thanks to the magnificent bougainvillea coming up from the vulcanic rocks to underline the property shapes made of arches and vaults. The Hall has a blue flooring painted of white waves which reminds the water sea movement. The circular stairs leads to every floor from which enjoy a different amazing view of Positano and of the sea. All the rooms are wide, air conditioned, with satellite television and individual balconies overlooking the sea. Each one faces a wonderful seaside landscape and the suites have a seaview Jacuzzi. The hotel has also a very special wine bar, where it’s possible to have dinner, taste the best products of Italian gastronomy and chose from a great selection of national wines.
