We just returned from an fabulous 2 week family vacation in Italy with our young son (3.5 years old), during which we stayed 5 nights at the Covo dei Saraceni. We had a Deluxe Junior Suite on the 6th floor (same floor as the pool) and the room was lovely - spacious, clean, comfortable, nicely decorated in a white on white mediterranean motif with a separate living area, 2 terraces and private jacuzzi/tub outside. We looked out over the main beach and ferry docks and lovely harbor. The buzz from the boating activity was definitely present but we didnt find it distracting at all (our floor is high enough above that you feel like you're watching from a good distance) and in fact our son loved looking at all the boats. We enjoyed having the private jacuzzi/tub on our own terrace since we could relax on the terrace, sunbathe, cool off in the water and let our son play/ "swim" without worrying about disturbing others at the pool area. It was fairly private though guests on the next floor up could see down if standing at the end of their balcony. Inside the room, all was quiet as can be. Housekeeping and service overall at the hotel was tip-top. They made the room up EVERY time we left it. Anything we needed, we just rang the desk and it arrived promptly and with a smile. The breakfast buffet was large though heavy on the pastries/breads/danishes for our taste. That said, there was also yogurt, fruit, cereals and the traditional cheese and sliced meats selection as well. Great coffee. Our only complaint was the cost of the bar in the lobby. We sat down the first evening for 2 glasses of Prosecco (served with the usual bar munchies like olives, nuts, pretzels, etc) and got a bill for 40 euro. This was high way robbery and we consequently decided not to eat at the hotel for the rest of our trip. I do understand the food is supposed to be good however. We know many folks prefer staying on the other side of Positano (where the Sirenuse or Maricanto are) for the views and longer sunset, but for our needs - especially with a small child - staying down at the beach at the Covo was the absolute right choice. Still great views, absolute convenience for boat trips, and yes - we walked every night up the pedestrian way and up the road and back for dinner at Caffe Positano, Da Vicenzo, and Ristorante Mediterraneo - all GREAT meals. Also convenient for the walk around the corner to the Fornillo beach and a meal at Lo Guarrancino (fabulous views!). We had 3 AMAZING excursions via private boat with Barbara & Antonio from barbarapositano.it) and would be absolutely delighted to email anyone interested in a private boat tour of Capri or the Amalfi coast - we have no reservations in recommending them. Beautiful service, lovely boat, fabulous personal touch. Dinner in Nerano at La Conca del Sogno and lunch at La Fontelina beach club in Capri were out of this world, unforgettable experiences. We would happily stay at Covo again and plan to be there same time next year!

This is a fabulous hotel in a perfect location by the beach. We had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the sea. The service is exceptional. It is a family run hotel and you can really tell by the attentive service and professional friendly approach they have.

If you are going to Positano, this is the best hotel by a mile. Oh...and the swimming pool on the roof is fab.

The only negative is the food - very average. But with so many places to eat in Positano, don't let this put you off (but don't do HB).

Stayed there in the middle of May 2006, warm and wonderful weather, about 27 degrees Celcius. Hotel and room were absolutely fantastic. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The breakfast and the view were to die for.

We just spent 3 fabulous nights at this hotel. Everything about it was exceptional from the great locatioin on the beach, to the rooftop pool, to the fabulous views from the balcony in the room , to the very large bathrooms, to the friendly staff, etc...The rooms were plain but very clean. The only downside to this hotel was you could not drive right to it. Your could travel by car for onlyso long, then the streets narrowed and you had to walk about three to four minutes to get to the hotel. Not good for someone not in shape or has a hard time getting around.

The hotel is on the beach, right below the town. We enjoyed the pool one afternoon after sightseeing. Heaven! The views from our room were lovely, and the breakfast buffet in the morning was beautifully laid out and had so many choices. The only drawback was no exercise room, which my husband would use. Instead, he made sure he climbed every hillside path while I shopped.
We would definitely return to this lovely hotel next time!

Stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is situated in possibly the best location within Positano. Staff were helpful and polite, rooms were outstanding and clean (we had a seaview suite). The breakfast was good serving everything from your traditional bacon & eggs to fruit, sweets and pastries. This hotel would be perfect however i have to fault it on two things. One is the Wi-fi - very slow and kept dropping out, not so good if you have to do some internet browsing or business and the second would be the pool area closing time - it closes at 5:30pm and my personal opinion is that when your paying top doller and in a tourist/holiday area it should be open alot later than that, the reason i got from the staff was that it shuts at that time to alow for cleaning??? baring those two things this hotel was fantastic and I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is literally on the oceanfront of Positano harbor, with all rooms having a panoramic view of the sea, including the coastline and the Isle of Capri off in the distance. We had a junior suite with a balcony up on the top floor, with a large walk in closet. The rooms were large, comfortable and well appointed. The bathroom was large with bright colored ceramic tiles and amenities that foreigners like, including a combination Jacuzzi shower and corner tub. The pool on one of the middle floors directly overhangs the promenade and beach and therefore makes you feel you are swimming right over the sea, with an incredible view of the surrounding mountains around Positano. The staff was professional, friendly and very helpful when it came to recommendations about restaurants, shops and sites. The hotel restaurant is one of the best in town and highly ranked, so don't let it's location in the Covo fool you, plus they give house guests a 25% discount. Common lobby and bar areas are very comfortable and beautifully furnished, each having a panoramic view of the ocean and promenade in front of the hotel. Greenery growing on the bar and common lobby area ceilings is very unique and pretty. All in all, a breathtaking location, comfortable and nicely appointed rooms, great food and impeccable service. We cannot wait to return.
