II was staying at this hotel with my daughter and wife for one week and we really could not choose a better place. Villa Gabrisa was really for us. Very beautiful and quiet room, with antic Italian furniture , with all comforts and of course the view! The view is making you dreaming while you are awake!:) We had a nice breakfast, italian style, with choice of pastries , cakes, yogurts and ect. Mostly I loved the coffee there, as it was very delicate and aromatic.
I have seen the pictures of it in the internet, but to see it with your own eyes is something incredible! The family, who running this place is very attentive and warm and have made us feel like part of their big italian family:)we can't wait to return in that magical place.

Room Tip: Book it before as it's a small hotel

The hotel has a wonderful view, very impressively sized rooms but two things let it down. The first was breakfast being incredibly average and considering how much you pay per night for the room we would expect a little more effort being out into the breakfast service - no toast, no cooked eggs apart from hard boiled. The second being the room was noisy at times, particularly in the morning.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience. I would like to give just a little note about our hotel and service. Every year we make small changes for give more comfort to our guests and some of them are chosen in base of direct guests request. At the moment we have been serving a continental breakfast which includes orange and pineapple juice, fresh bread rolls, fresh croissants and mini pastries, fresh baked cake, sliced cold cuts and cheeses, fresh fruit, fruit salad, boiled eggs, a choice of cereals, a choice of yogurts and coffee or tea. Till now has been always served as a buffet and there is no charge for it, in fact is free for all our hotel guests and doesn’t influence the room price. From this summer we will add some more meals to our buffet, which are more of an English breakfast. You stayed in one of our suites but we do have also other room types which you could be interested so, if you would like, you could keep in touch with us and we could inform you about our improvements and different room types.

The small hotel, family owned and operated, is strategically located on the slopes of Positano providing a dramatic view of the north west of town, from mountainous cliffs all the way down to the sea. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a room with a beautiful terrace. What a treat! Staff was responsive, room was clean as a whistle, with prompt and swift housekeepers. My one complaint was the upstairs neighbors could be heard walking about -- a rug on the tile floor up there would improve things dramatically. Otherwise, it was very comfortable, excellent Wi-Fi in the room, excellent pillows and mattress, good water pressure, fantastic toiletries. Breakfast was simple, but did the trick. We parked on the street, but this is not possible in the high season. I would recommend this principally to couples--it is quiet, romantic, and a great place to just sit and relax, look out at the view. Families may not like the terrace with a street below. Restaurants, shops and beach access are in the immediate vicinity. Positano is vertical, so prepare for stairs everywhere!

Room Tip: Rooms 5 was stunning.

We booked 2 nights at Villa Gabrisa for Valentine's weekend and had been looking forward to it for a long time (we booked it 6 months in advance). After reading the amazing reviews, it sounded like the perfect escape for a romantic break. When we arrived, we were greeted by Robyn who told us that as it was Valentine's day, we were being upgraded to "a larger room down the road." I thanked her and as we followed her further and further down the road, I thought it was a bit strange, but after all, this was an "upgrade," so it must be fine. We entered the "suite" very optimistic, and then after looking around, our hearts sank. She put us in a room that resembled a dungeon (dark and musty with steep stairs leading to a lower level bathroom). When we realized that this room was disappointing and not even part of Villa Gabrisa, we went back to the front desk to ask for the room that we booked. She said Villa Gabrisa was full and there was nothing she could do (even though we booked 6 months in advance). Shocking.

Room Tip: Never ever take the "upgrade down the road".

My husband and I went to Hotel Villa Gabrisa for a couples getaway in late January 2014. The hotel was beautiful and charming and had sweeping views of the sea! The hotel is small and family owned. All staff were very helpful and attentive. I believe all rooms have a balcony with view of the sea.I was sad about the hotel restaurant being closed for the off season, but that is common this time of year. In fact, there were only about 4 restaurants open in town for dinner. We still at very well! We ate lunch on our terrace several times and got our food from a local deli. The town of Positano is best described vertically and the hotel is in the upper half of the town about a 15 minute downhill walk from the beach area. Although we were there in the off season, I imagine it's nicely removed from the chaos of the summer months. Parking is very limited, but there is a public parking lot just down the street. Street parking is reserved for residents. No car, no problem. The hotel staff can assist you in getting transportation to and from the airport, etc. There is a local bus that you can use to get around town. We'd walk down to the beach area for dinner and shopping then take the bus back to the hotel. Overall, I loved the hotel and would love to visit again.

My husband and I came to Positano on our honeymoon and stayed at the Hotel Villa Gabrisa. The hotel is absolutely stunningly beautiful and our room was lovely. The staff also was very helpful and kind. My only issue with the hotel is how loud our room was. We could hear every thing that was happening in the breakfast room/lobby, so though we loved the hotel we would not return because it was difficult to sleep or relax with all of the noise.

We stayed at this wonderful small hotel for eight nights in mid-November, which is decidedly off-season in Positano - a fact that helped make the stay so enjoyable. The hotel comes by the "Villa" in its name honestly - the structure was built as a private villa. There are only 9 rooms. We stayed five nights in Room 304, which is one of the three rooms with large terraces, and (because that room wasn't available for our entire stay) three nights in another room. The second room was actually larger, but had only a narrow balcony instead of a large terrace and the bathroom was smaller and less attractive. So definitely try for one of the rooms with large terraces. Views from both rooms were stunning - and in 304 there's even a view from the bathroom. The place is family run and friendly. It's well-located and you can walk anywhere (but be prepared for lots of steps; the town is near-veertical). The included breakfast is not elaborate, but good. We had great weather - 60's and sunny - for most of our stay and the lack of crowds in off-season made for a relaxing, romantic, getaway. And of course off-season rates are better.

Room Tip: Try for 304 or one of the other two with large terraces
