A friend of my husband who is from Italy recommended this place, When we first arrived the reception was very nice, we were immediately "upgraded" to a room that is literally in the mountain, room 601. The mountain enters the room and is along the wall of the entire bathroom its actually creepy and gross. Along with this the mountain provides a very strong stench which my husband and I could not handle. We asked to change rooms which we did after 1 night and when we got the downgrade we were happy to be in a normal room, the rooms are small as everything in Europe is compared to the US. There is a breakfast which is horrible. The only good thing I can say about this place is that its literally right next to a bus stop. And Daniella is very friendly at the front desk.
Additionally we went in a very peak season and it was quite expensive.

Room Tip: not room 601

My family and I were at Hotel Posa Posa in June. First of all, the location is perfect. The local bus stops right outside of the hotel. If you've never been to Positano, I will emphasize that this is a huge plus! I saw many people unhappily lugging suitcases up and down the many staircases in search of their hotels. The view from the restaurant and your balcony is simply stunning. No matter where you look, you will be in complete awe of your surroundings. The staff at this hotel is amazing!! Giuseppe is a gem at the restaurant! He made us feel so welcome, shared great stories and set the mood for a perfect dinner with wonderful Italian music. Lucia makes a delightful cappachino for breakfast! Daniela at the front desk will give you one of the most welcoming of receptions on arrival. It was such a joy to make the long trek there and be greeted by name and with such charming personality. It's obvious that the entire staff care about the guests and want you to enjoy your stay in Positano. They are a 5 star staff for certain. The hotel is lovely. We had a family room which was very spacious. There were five of us and by only unpacking what we needed for the stay, we were very comfortable in the room. Loved the balcony! When we return to Positano, we will definitely return to Hotel Posa Posa.

Room Tip: The family rooms are spacious enough for five people.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Posa Posa in May at the end of our Italian vacation. We could not have picked a better place to end our vacation, except it made it harder to leave.
First the location is great. We had debated between on the beach or higher on the hill. The views from here are magical. We had a balcony room, and it was well worth it. The higher location gave us a better view of the dramatic landscape. The views never got old, but the sunrise of our last day was a truly breathtaking. The room was large (especially compared to some of the other rooms on our trip), and very comfortable.
Perhaps the best part of this hotel was the staff. Guiseppi and Lucia treated us like family and made all of our dinners memorable. The dinner price in the hotel is comparable to other restaurants in the area, but we think the service you'll get here is far superior. We enjoyed our lunches in the town, but we always returned to Guiseppi and Lucia for dinner.
We would definitely put Hotel Posa Posa on our visit again list.

We stayed in a room on the second floor that accommodated our family of 4. The room was long and a good size to accomodate the queen size bed and two twin beds. The room is not fancy but is clean and had modest furnishings - armoire, chest, night stand, refrigerator, and cocktail/end tables. We had a beautiful view from our terrace which has two chairs. The front desk personnel were very friendly and helpful. This hotel is within walking distance to shopping, great restaurants, and beaches.

The room we eventually were placed in was on the fifth floor and had an amazing view. It was a little disappointing because we had originally booked a junior suite with sea view and were placed on the first floor with a view of a tree. Once we complained we were moved. The room was clean, large and spacious. Each room also had a single bed in addition to a queen size bed for a thrid person. The room also had a great balcony where we would often just sit out and enjoy the view. The walk into town was a good 15 minutes all downhill, and to get back to the room you really need to take the local bus which loops around the whole city and comes every 30 minutes or so.

For the price the hotel was a little chintzy. As we were checking out I heard another couple complaining about the view from their room and were trying to move as well. Additionally it was the only hotel we stayed at in Italy that charged for Internet.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a room on the 5th or 6th floors!

We booked a double superior side sea view room, and requested to not be near the tree so that our view would not be obstructed. The room was on the 5th floor and we had a fantastic view and lovely little terrace which we sat in quite a bit! Very spacious room and bathroom with decent furnishings.

This hotel is about a 20-30 minute walk down into town and beach. I'm not certain how far it is from a train or bus station as we arrived here by driver from Naples and then took a ferry from Positano to Capri. The drive from Naples to Positano, though, took about an hour and a half. The ferry to Capri took about 30 minutes.

Continental breakfast (yogurt, cereal, pastries, fruit, etc.) is included and is pretty good - eggs are included, which is great! Breakfast on the terrace is beautiful - gorgeous view!

I would pass on dinner here as there are plenty of great restaurants just 5 minutes away and dinner at the hotel is very overpriced. In fact, we are pretty certain we were overcharged for the one dinner we had there - make sure you ask for a receipt!

The above ground pool is SO tiny (the size of an oversized jacuzzi) and did not look very clean. The outdoor lounge area was nice to get some sun.

The staff was so incredibly friendly when we first arrived, but the friendliness seemed to wane over time. Not sure what happened, but it was disappointing and made their initial friendliness seem somewhat questionable.

Overall, we LOVED the fantastic views from our room and breakfast terrace, but were disappointed by the service towards the end of our stay.

Room Tip: ask to be in a room away from the tree.
