“Wish we would have chosen a different hotel”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

The positioning and exterior of the hotel are fantastic, there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel which makes it convenient to get to the beach area. Be warned though, it is located at the top of the cliff so its a long walk down to the beach. There is also a children's playground just a few minutes walk if you make a left out of the hotel, my 2.5 year old had a wonderful time there. The staff were warm and helpful but I think there were only five people in the whole place to do everything including cooking breakfast and servicing the tables! There is an updated wine bar in the lobby that was not open once during our four night stay and the rooms are in dire need of updates and we stayed in an ocean view corner suite. The shower curtain in the bathroom looked like something you would get at a dollar store. We were very disappointed after staying at a fabulous hotel in Sorrento the previous two nights. I highly recommend choosing a different hotel!!!

The hotel Posa Posa is in a fantastic position looking over the sea and the quaint town of Positano, great people, great food and a great choice!!!. .We had a corner suite room which was first class with large balcony with table, chairs and a couple of sun lounger and very clean. The staff is so friendly and helpful!!! I would highly recommend this hotel.

We recently visited the amalfi coast staying in both ravelo and positano
Whilst the hotel in ravelo was excellent in every aspect the reverse was unfortunately the case here
Not only is the whole hotel tired and in need of an overhaul the staff are too
It may have been a 4 star once but that must have been a very long time ago
Definitely not worth the money as little more than a 2 star

I stayed at Posa Posa for four days in June, and was quite pleased. It is situated in the middle, which is very convenient to take the bus to Sorrento or to the beach. The staff was very helpful, and polite, the room was lovely and I had a marvelous view of Positano from my balcony. They served an excellent breakfast again with a spectacular view of Positano.

Posa Posa is a fine little hotel. As with most hotels in Positano, it has a stunning view. This view is available while you dine, swim, or just on your balcony.
The staff is warm and friendly. Daniella, at the front desk was just great. Always smiling, happy and willing to do anything to make your stay the best it could be. Restaurant reservations, drivers and plenty of good tips.
Nice breakfast ( included) on a beautiful terrace.
A nice leisurely walk into town, about fifteen minutes, downhill. Remember, you have to walk back up. It's great exercise and the road is lined with great restaurants, cafés and shops. Walking that twice a day allows you to eat and drink pretty much all you want and not have to worry about packing on the pounds. You don't, however, have to go all the way into town to find a great restaurant or cafe with a spectacular view.
Having said that, the hotel is a little dated and could use some upgrades. Especially around the pool area.
It was more expensive than it deserves to be, but we basically just slept and had breakfast there.
Call it what it is 3 1/2 stars, price it as such, and there won't be any surprises.

A lot of reviews we had read said that Guiseppe and Lucciana were hospitable and terrific hosts. Whilst they were hospitable, we just felt that they spoke a lot about themselves in quite a superficial way, which was a little off-putting. Other staff were welcoming, helpful and very honest about the best ways to do things (ie laundry, getting around, places to eat).

Our room was on the second floor with a side view. The room itself was spacious and cool, but the tiles dont seem like they get a regular mop. It wasnt dirty, but it wasnt super clean either. The bathroom was clean, but the grout of the tiles needed a scrub. Our balcony had a lovely view but it was very dirty. Tiles looked like they had never been swept, fallen leaves and bird droppings everywhere.

To get to the hotel restaurant, the pool and levels 5 and 6, you need to take 2 lifts. At first it didnt bother us, but after a few days you get over it.

Overall this place just needed a big scrub down! I would not stay here again, but walking down to the beach, I must say, I saw places that seemed a lot worse off.

Our family of 4 stayed here for 4 nights in July. The hotel is fine, but really nothing special - lovely views, nice staff, quite clean and quiet. However, it is an absolute mystery to me how they can begin to justify the price tag or the 4 star rating - we felt like we had paid for 5 stars and got 3!

We booked a quadruple room, and were expecting something more than an ordinary (small) double room with sofa bed plus fold away bed. Space was very tight! The roof terrace was lovely, but unusable a lot of the time due to the incessant smoking of our fellow guests (not the hotel's fault, although they could consider making the terraces and balconies non-smoking...) Breakfast was OK, but it seemed petty that they wanted to charge extra for anything more than fried egg or plain omelet...

I am sure that a big part of the reason is just that Positano is so popular they can charge what they want in high season. However, bottom line is that we were disappointed - you should be able to find better value elsewhere.
