“Just sensational!”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

We could not have asked for a more amazing place to stay in Positano! We can only praise this hotel - large, clean and quiet room; amazing views; lovely and helpful staff! Breakfast was almost always the best part of our day - sitting to eat on a beautiful open terrace with uninterrupted views of the Amalfi coast and Positano itself. We know where we'll be staying when we return one day!

We stayed here for a week in early May and we cannot say enough wonderful things about it. From the moment we checked in the staff was so gracious and helpful. Our room overlooked the Amalfi coast which should be on everyone list of beautiful places to see. Our room was very spacious with a nice balcony and a lovely large(for Italy) bathroom.the breakfast on the roof where the pool is was great and very fresh. No rush to finish because the view from there took your breath away. You walk everywhere in Positano and the shopping was fun and first class, especially the ceramics! The staff will recommend great restraunts and everyone of them were great. The tiny Catholic Church just down from the hotel will refresh your soul! Don't miss the Punto Regina!

Room Tip: Stay on a floor with a balcony. There are only 21 rooms!

Although I wish our room would've had a nicer view (our room was on the first floor and all we could see is the street), the staff was helpful and accommodating. I stayed there with a friend while on a study abroad vacation, and am glad that we made the choice to stay at Punta Regina rather than a hostel. They knew my name before I even introduced myself, and the complimentary breakfast every morning was amazing. I would recommend asking for a room on a higher floor for a view of the ocean, but despite that, it was well worth the money.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor do not have a view of the ocean.

Despite bad weather, with thunderstorms, we spent 6 fantastic days in beautyful Positano at Albergo Punta Regina.
The rooms are pretty big and beautyful. We stayed in no 26, a superiore room, with a large terrace with sunbeds, a little garden and a fantastic sea view. Very comfortabe and very big (!) bed. Generally very good sleepin quality, silent. As the rest of the hotel, the room was perfectly clean all the time.

The large roof terrace is really nice. With breakfast area (delicous), small pool, sunbeds and a stunning view!

We loved the walk down to Positano, charming, and up on the way home. Not far at all, as some reviewers write. With all the lovely food you can get in he area it does you good to walk up along the road or the stairs.

Finally, I have to mentioned the great service we got from adorable Francesca and Giusseppina. The where helpful already before we arrived, gave us several advices for our preparations. the trip wouldn't have been the same without their kind help. The made all our restaurant bookings. If you are planning to visit the hotel and area, let them do the bookings for you. it will guarantee you a nice table and service. We visited Bucca di Bacco (twice), La Tagliata, La Terra, da Vincenzo, Chez Black, Bagno d'Arienzo and Saraceno D'Oro (see own reviews).

If you plan to spend time on the beach, don't hesitate to go directly to the small private beach, Arienzo, run by a family. They pick you up in a boat down the dock (free). At the beach they also run a small very nice restaurant. Charming, and delicious food.

The only negative thing to say about our stay, is that the terrace in out room could have been nicer furnitured and maintained.

I would definitly like to come back to Punta Regina.

I found the Punta Regina through trip advisor and was not dissapointed with the service or the room. Francesca is outstanding and should be commended for the attention she gives the guests. We stayed in room 27, a huge room with outside jacuzzi bath on the balcony. My only dissapointment was that there was no hot water for the two days of our stay so as I paid €880 I find it hard to rate it anything other than average. Only at checkout did we get an apology for the lack of hot water and were compensated with a €8 miniature bottle of Prosecco from the mini bar which I hardly felt was any compensation at all as I had booked this room because of the outdoor jacuzzi bath (which we couldn't use as the water was too cold). The hotel does not have a restaurant but serves snacks up on the roof terrace where breakfast is also served. Breakfast is lovely but limited with its hot options (just scrambled egg and bacon). However, it is beautifully presented and the service great. the hotel is quite high up in the town but it's just a 15 minute walk down hill and a 20 or so minute walk back up, which is a pleasant walk if you take it steady. I would like to return to the Punta Regina when we visit Positano again next year but the lack of compensation for something as important as hot water has left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Room Tip: Room 27 is large and has a private balcony jacuzzi.

Dear Madam,

we are very sorry to hear this but in during your stay Positano had an entire week of bad weather and lots of breakdown due to big storms and unfortunately our boiler had been damaged during the night time.

The problem has been promptly solved on the same day, so we did the best we could do in that occasion to awoid any problem to our guests. We really hope to have the opportunity of having you as guests in the next future in order to offer you a better service and save better memories.

Due to the fact that we were travelling by car we could not be certain the arrival date monday 9th of June.
After searching localy the availability in several hotels we decided to stay at Albergo Punta Regina.
If at the reception desk you agree a price insist in paying immediatly otherwise at the check out it was 310€ instead 210€ proposed. This was very sad story and the exceptional staff doesn't deserve it. Wonderful breakfast and very kind staff, wonderful terrace and great breakfast.

I lived back in 2002 in Italy, speak and read italian. I had a similar experience in Venice in 2000. I know and travel Italy top to bottom, as well as Sicily this situation was "The Sad Story!"

Hope this sad story will help! Please make attention it's an excelent place if this did not happen! Too fresh in my memory!

Room Tip: If u agree a price insist in paying immediatly

Dear Sir,

this is truly a sad story for us as well considering our rates are showed in the room, on our brochures, on internet and we avoid any form of negotiation expecially during the high season.

When you walked in we've offered two different rooms, one with sea view and another one without sea view and the difference about the rates was exactly what you mentioned.

As per our policy we never ask to pay at the check in but always at the check out, as a form of kindness and elegance, not for sure to charge to the guests more then is right, this is very offensive to us.
We are honest and serious about the rates and the services offered back, but we've learned a lesson, next time we'll write the information down and allow guests to pay in advance if they want to...

Super friendly and service minded staff, great breakfast, stunning terrace with pool. We had a large and nice room however without balcony due to late booking. The Hotel took care of our car and luggage while we spent 3 days in capri after our stay.
