Fantastic location and very helpful and hospitable owners who made this visit even more pleasant! The room was spotless and had an amazing view and had a cozy feeling.

Would definitely come back again!

We ended up at this hotel when the one we had reservations for gave away our room before we got there. However, the managment at Gabbiano could not have been nicer or more accomodating. The room we had was their last room available as this was the busy season. It was a small but nice clean room with a great view from a balcony. We enjoyed our stay there.

We pulled into Positano without a reservation. After driving into and out of the city we doubled back to find a place. Its not "easy" to find a place - or more accurately a place where you can stop and check it out but we found this place. Its a little farther "uphill" than we had originally thought we would get but in the end it was just fine.
The room was simple but big enough for 2, but when you walk out onto the terrace it was a "WOW" moment......it made it all worthwhile.
We had a simple room on the 2 floor below, but below us were rooms that had larger terraces with loungers and the same beautiful view. The price was right at 130 euros and it was walking distance to a few nice restaurants. The walk down to the beach front was long but doable.
the staff were helpful and accommodating. The restaurant was nice although we only ate breakfast there which was included and just what you would expect - simple but satisfying.
If I went back I might look for something else just to stay somewhere different, but I wouldn't object to staying there either.

This is a friendly family place. Everyone was very nice to us. We loved seeing the several generations around playing cards and helping out. We had a great albet small room with small bath and a terrace overlooking Positano. I can't think of any complaints about the place. The breakfast was simple. If your going on your honey-moon perhaps you would want to go a little higher end hotel which there are plenty to choose from. If your looking for a great view and looking to explore the Amalfi coast or Capri this is a great choice. It is a hump up from the beach and we used the porter for our bags after the ferry which worked out great. If your not familiar with the area you should take a taxi to the hotel or you'll be totally frustrated and never find it. If you're driving you can't miss it.
There is a very good restaurant just next door the really surprised us.
One thing, Don't ask for a late check out... It is forbiden :)

We stayed here for 3 nights in April, using this as our base to travel around the Amalfi Coast. It was a small hotel with friendly staff who were willing to help were possible. The location was ok, there were a few nice local restaurants within walking distance and a laundry mat across the road. Our room was spacious but the bed was old and squeaky. The room had its own private balcony with an amazing view. We did not find the breakfast very appealing so we ended up eating elsewhere. The hotel does not accept Credit cards so take extra cash (we weren’t very keen on carrying around large amounts of money around). Also note, all the ATM’s are in the centre of town which was at the bottom of a hill. The local bus stops is a 10 minute walk away, I would suggest getting the bus around instead of taking a taxi from Sorrento as it ends up being really expensive (around 80 Euros one way).

We have spent the past month traveling and this was by far the worst hotel and is the same cost as much better hotels. The rooms occupied by our children had sewerage smells from the showers, rooms were sparsely furnished, poor beds and with one exception the staff are sour, mean and unhelpful. The overall effect is eastern Europe from 20+ years ago.

Great little hotel with smiley, friendly & helpful family staff. I was worried about some of the negative reviews I'd read about the hotel, but i can tell you this is one of the best value for money hotels we've stayed for a long while. Completely unpretentious, down to earth, very clean, spacious & comfortable hotel with the most amazing views from the room. If you are looking for the real Italian flavour, it doesn't get more real than that, the lovely owner managing the hotel with her sons & Daughter made us feel like part of the extended family.

The breakfast is not the best in the world, that's granted, but neither it is as bad as some of the reviews out there mention. It's good enough to fill your tummy up for a day at the beach.
