Everything is perfect! The location is outstanding. The Beach is on the rock with perfect orientation (south). The staff is the best you will ever meet (a perfect balance of professionalism, friendship. It is natural for all of them to serve you nicely and to be always available). They want you to enjoy a unique experience being at Villa Tre Ville (like it is said in the other comments : you are at your best friends villa).
The rate that first can be found high is definitely worth it.

It is simply the best place we have ever gone and we are just looking forward to returning

Villa Tre Ville is everything the previous reviews state and more. There are not enough superlatives I could use to describe the hotel and location. The level of service would have to be the friendliest and best I have ever encountered without being at all overbearing or stuffy as is often the case in top class...

We just spent 4 nights there and are already planning a return.

It is like staying in your Best Friends Villa (assuming of course they are $$$). It really is beyond 5 stars and is one of those places that you don't even think about the cost.

The rate is worth it. Food, Rooms, Rock Beach, Staff all best we have experienced and we have a very long list. I work in the Hotel business and I always come away with something that can be improved. This time we can't

You just cant go wrong.

Advise: Don't stay in Amalfi or Capri.... Stay in Positano at the intimate Villa Tre Ville.

Yes it is expensive but when all the inclusions are considered it is extremely good value.
We will be returning.

When one first hears about Villa Treville you immediately notice that fortuitously it has geography in its favour – firstly it is in Italy, one of the great holiday destinations on Planet Earth. Secondly it is located in Positano, one of the best (if not the best) summer destinations in Italy. Thirdly it is one of the very few establishments in Positano located right on the seashore. At any time day or night, a dip in the inviting Mediterranean Sea is just a few steps away.

Upon arrival you are escorted to your room (whenever possible by the affable and charming GM himself, Mr. Ferdinando) through a tunnel build into the mountain, a magical way of entering the resort. The suites are well designed and comfortable, all having outside sitting areas with spectacular sea views – the only issue that we had with the room was that the light in the bathroom could have been brighter but Management told us that this is being addressed. Drinks in the room mini-bar are complimentary (a really welcome touch) and are refreshed daily, as is the in-room fruit.

A huge benefit of staying at Villa Treville is that you get to dine at the restaurant, which is generally not open to outside guests. There is no menu, the focus is on fresh and the preparation is in the classical (read healthy, but very tasty) Mediterranean style of food preparation. The vegetables are all grown in the resort’s own organic garden, and you can tell by the taste. The tomatoes really taste like tomatoes, as does all the produce. The daily catch and salad was so good, I had it for at least one meal almost every day. We never much bothered with a wine list either, just accepting the suggestions of the waiters for the best in local wines. It is Italy, after all. I have to say too that the food and wine was exceptionally good value.

The resort offers a free shuttle boat service into Positano, where a number of excellent restaurants can be enjoyed. For any activities outside the resort, the staff are only too happy to offer their recommendations. However it is so relaxing at Villa Treville, mostly you find that you’re more than happy just hanging around the resort. One of the objectives of Ferdinando and his team is to not have to say no to their guests, and it shows in their attitude towards service. Nothing is too much trouble. Our housekeeper was especially outstanding, in fact all the resort’s staff are a real credit to Ferdinando and the management.

Villa Treville is without doubt one of the premier holiday destinations in Europe, and I would heartily recommend it to anyone seeking a relaxing summer vacation by the sea.

Clinging to a steep slope above the Mediterranean, Villa Tre Ville is a former private residence seamlessly converted into a hotel with rooms spread among different, distinctive villas. The size of the property guarantees privacy, yet you still have the feeling of being a welcome guest in someone’s home. Villa Tre Ville is located just close enough to Positano to be convenient to its restaurants, but just far enough away to feel completely removed from it’s tourist-packed alleys…really an oasis within an oasis.

When talking about Villa Tre Ville to friends, I find it difficult not use superlatives. However, everything about the hotel encourages them: its dramatic location, the impeccable service, the fresh local food, the wide-ranging amenities. It is the perfect combination of luxury, privacy, comfort, service and convenience.

During our visit, we stayed in two different rooms in two different parts of the hotel, each with its own personality. Classic with modern amenities, both felt brand-new, open, airy and light with huge bathrooms. The rooms were also simply functional and comfortable…that’s something that gets lost in a lot of nice hotels. There were a lot of spaces to hide away the suitcases, the closets were big, the towels were huge and there were more toiletries than I’d ever seen. Several of the suites have private pools and terraces.

Everyone that works at Ville Tre Villa smiles as you pass. It is the kind of place where you can ask anyone there for anything and the answer is always along the lines of, “Of course, no problem.” You can tell they work as a team.

The restaurant makes you feel at home, as well. There are no menus. They tell you what is fresh and available…you can go with their suggestions or tell them you want something different. They always accommodated us. We frequently started with a pizza to share and I ordered the Pasta Vongole (clams) multiple times…simple and incredible. Many of the fruits and vegetables come from Villa Tre Ville’s own gardens and orchards; you will notice them as you walk around the property: figs, tomatoes, even corn. And the views from the dining terrace are unparalleled: the town of Positano, the Li Galli islands and all of the yachts in the bay.

This is not the kind of place to nickel and dime you to death with surcharges. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. The mini-bar is complimentary. There were Zeiss binoculars in our room. The amazing breakfasts are included, as well as a buffet of snacks available throughout the day. A nice touch I had never seen: there are several lounges with full bars around the property where you can just make yourself a cocktail, grab a cold beer or pour a glass of wine. Beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, kayaks and snorkeling equipment were always available on a pretty, terraced rock outcropping by the sea. You can easily take a swim from here, too. From these same rocks, an immaculately restored 1940’s style water-taxi is available to take you on a tour of the coast or to the center Positano, a beautiful 5-minute boat ride away. There is an outdoor gym (with cardio equipment and free weights) that overlooks the water. I have never been to a hotel with so many included services and amenities.

Our trip could not have been better; we loved everything about it. Villa Tre Ville is truly a world-class hotel and we cannot wait to go back.

This definitely has to be one of Positano's most exclusive places to stay! Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were there not long before we stayed, and Russell Crowe is a regular too. The best thing about this place is that it is completely unpretentious - you're made to feel at home. In fact, staff said that was the whole point - "we want guests to feel at home, not like they are in a hotel". There's no cut-off time for breakfast, for example, you have it when you want it. That's how it should be at a hotel of this standard.

Villa Tre Ville is set back a little from the centre of Positano, making it tranquil, but surprisingly convenient to the town. It also means you get that famous Positano view! I think you need a little distance to truly appreciate Positano's beauty.

There are plenty of reasons to choose Villa Tre Ville - the incredible views, the private boat that will take you to town whenever you like, the slick, seamless service. No expense has been spared in maintaining this gorgeous property - gardens are perfectly manicured, the pool is crystal clear and rooms are spotlessly clean and well appointed. The beds are much bigger than king size, everything feels bright and airy inside.

For those who can afford it, there are villas with their own private gardens and pools, other suites come with common living areas full of books and sunny corners to curl up in to read them. The highlight was spending the afternoon sun-baking on a rock ledge, and swimming in the Mediterranean. This part of the Med is private and only accessible to Villa Tre Ville guests. As you dry off, staff will happily bring you whatever you like - fruit, cappuccino, wine - they'll even take you for a ride along the coastline in the private boat, and point out the highlights of the area, if you like.

In our room, the bathroom mirror opened up to the main room, so you could chat to your fellow guests if you wanted and see the stunning views beyond too. The bathtub was one of the deepest I've been in. The bathroom products are premium, and generous in quantity. Towels are twice as big and twice as fluffy as any you're likely to find elsewhere. We seriously didn't want to leave. The comedown after our departure was tough!

Room Tip: Even our toilet window had spectacular views. If you can afford it, get one of the villas with their...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Villa TreVille provides a unique, boutique hotel experience within a historic, oceanfront estate of about two hectares (five acres) in one of the most fascinating and exclusive places in the world: Positano on Italy's storied Amalfi Coast. This private paradise has an accommodation complex of four independent houses: Villa Bianca, Villa Rosa, Villa Azzurra and Villa Tre Pini. The villas contain a total of 15 guest suites, two with private gardens. Each suite is named after a special guest who has left his or her mark in the annals of the estate and on the arts world, their achievements honoured and recalled in part through the furnishings and art objects, with atmospheres further enhanced by the particular spaces and settings and uses of light and colour. Guests have exclusive access to the seaside sundecks and the dock for the estate's private motor launch through elevators and stone stairways cut into the landscaped, rocky promontory. The villas and amenities are artfully in harmony with the cliffside gardens and pathways that invite exploratory strolls between pergolas laden with vines and cascades of bougainvillea, where every turn can reveal touches of traditional craftsmanship and creative imagination. There are the original Vietri antique ceramics, or exacting reproductions, and extensive handiworks of local artisans such as the hand-painted plates produced exclusively for Villa TreVille by Rosalinda di Sorrento or the glasses made for the house by Venini, the historic Venetian manufacturer of glassware in Murano. The refurbishment of the entire property initially was under the artistic direction of Franco Zeffirelli, the opera and movie maestro who lived on the estate for 35 years. The work subsequently was continued with meticulous attention to essential details by the former proprietor, Giovanni Russo, who was advised by architect Fausta Gaetani, a friend of Mr. Zeffirelli's and a frequent guest at Villa TreVille. ... more   less
