Perfect location for a week in beautiful Positano. The hotel itself was a small boutique style in a central location just a short walk down to the beach, shops and restaurants, staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. The room was typically Italian, clean and of a good size. We had a room on the first floor overlooking the street with a balcony and fantastic views towards the sea. I would book into this hotel again.

Positano is itself a magical place, but this hotel makes it even better! The view for the rooms with a terrace is simply unbelievable, the location is comfortable, the staff is friendly, prepared and most of all: speaks good English! Lovely place!

When we arrived to check-in we were advised our room was not ready and to come back in an hour, we did that only to arrive back in an hour to be told it still wasn't ready and to come back in another hour! I agree with other reviews, service wasn't great and staff were a little rude, however the room was spacious, clean and a lovely view from the balcony. It is an easy walk up from the ferry through the winding streets passing lovely boutiques. Breakfast is included in the price, however doesn't start until 8am, what was a shame since we booked an early tour and couldn't get something 'to go'. The hotel is located in a great spot to access restaurants and about a ten minute walk down the hill to the beach

We booked 5 nights in a deluxe room with a seaview terrace 5 months in advance. On arrival we were greeted with a long winded story by Michaelangelo (the owner) about the room being unavailable until the next morning due to a plumbing problem which was creating a bad smell. We were told that an alternative hotel of higher standard was available to us and that we could return if we wished the following day or stay at the alternate accommodation, whichever we chose. We asked to see the room (the one with the smell) so that we could compare, we were told that we could not as the owner did not have a key, that the key was with the plumber who had gone home. We are now turned onto the street at 7:30pm with luggage in high season with the name of another Hotel. We began our walk uphill to the alternate hotel, which had only 1 room available for 1 night. We were informed that Michaelangelo had rung to say there was no availability at his hotel (The Royal Prisco) so we could not return the next day.
Clearly they had double booked which according to other hoteliers in the area, they did regularly, and rather than just contacting us with alternative accommodation waited until we arrived and sent us away with an elaborate story. We spent 3 days of our stay looking for accommodation and moving, eventually ending up with a room that was nothing like we had initially booked. To our surprise The Hotel Prisco then took payment from our credit card account.....Unbelievable!
I can still see the owner Michaelangelo, making his pathetic excuses which were actually a pack of lies. Kind of knew it at the time but figured once we were in our room all would be fine, just didn't expect to be completely scammed.

Room Tip: It seems you get what you get, not neccesarily what you book and pay for or what is guaranteed and c...

We booked a room with a balcony 4 months before our trip. Three weeks before our trip we received an e mail that we would get no balcony for the same price. We had to keep it since there was nothing else available. We had a room with no windows it a skylight. It was clean but you go to positano for the view.

We arrived by boat and found out the porters charge 8 euros per bag. No way we could carry it so 16 euros later. We asked at the hotel for transport to amalfi to our next hotel. They said 80 to 90 euros. If we had 4 people it would double. We asked a taxi van directly and it was 60 for all of us. Called the hotel in amalfi and it was 50 euros. Be careful with this hotel.

We found the amalfi coast you need to be on your toes for all pricing.

We loved the location of this hotel. It was so easy to walk everywhere including to the beach, shopping and for dinner.

The service was friendly and helpful although I did get the feeling I asked too many questions.

A relaxing place to stay.

Good hotel with a great location. The wifi can get slow at times, but it is included in the price. The showers were small. Unfortunately a couple of mosquitoes came in our room. The didn't have any spray to kill them, which was a little annoying.
