My husband and I spent 6 nights here recently and loved it!! We got upgraded to a room with a huge spa and balcony overlooking the ocean. The rooms are really old school, but quite funny and very comfortable. Breakfast is great- pastries, eggs and meats. The pool is beautiful and there's a whole sun ain't deck overlooking the water. Great location- a few minutes from centre of town. Very friendly and helpful staff. I needed a doctor in middle of the night and they called one and made sure everyday I was ok after that. We'll be back!

Room Tip: Room 216 is the master suite!! Fantastic.

We arrived at the hotel with another couple who was on their honeymoon. We only booked a superior room but somehow we were upgraded to the suite, Room 216. This room was at the top right and had 2 balconies, one that was from the bathroom with a huge jacuzzi tub. We had a living room, bedroom with a king bed and a hug walk in closet. It was a great room. The decor itself was a tiny bit dated but all hotels in Italy are older and not as fancy as in the US. The wifi was not great in the rooms-it kept going in and out. The grounds were beautiful. The pool was perfect as was the sundeck. Giani took care of us with great service. We had a nice lunch on the terrace and dinner was pretty good too with amazing views. There were 300 steps to the beach. The beach area was nice but the rocks on the beach made it difficult to navigate because they were sharp and super hot. There is a great pizza spot on the walk to the other beach. Dinner was great at Da Vincenzo's which was a hike but worth it. Also La Tagliata was a restaurant up in the mountains-they send a shuttle to pick people up from various hotels. We booked a private 2 hour boat tour of the Amalfi coast and it was perfect.

Room Tip: Room 216 was amazing-they said we were upgraded to their suite. It was on the highest floor and had...

Had a perfect 4 night stay at the Hotel Marincanto. It's simply bellisimo!! The hotel and location are picture postcard paradise! We had an ocean view suite (worth the extra $) with 2 outside terraces & a jacuzzi tub - very comfortable & lovely accommodations. The staff at the hotel were superb - Enza & Antonella took great care of us (with excellent restaurant & excursion recommendations); and Carmine & Johnny (by the pool) catered to our every need with regards to afternoon cocktails, making us comfortable at the pool & sun deck, & helping us with our car & luggage. Breakfast was included with our rate - and it was a nice buffet with lots of healthy choices. The outside restaurant is wonderful as well - a great spot to have lunch. The hotel's infinity pool is simply gorgeous. The beach is right below the resort -- though be prepared to walk up & down lots of stairs (we didn't mind this - as it was our daily workout).. The resort is close to some terrific restaurants (check out - Bruno - which is across the street (fabulous gnocchi & pasta); La Cambusa (fabulous seafood), La Pergola (nice casual dining); and Covo dei Saraceni (great pizzas, calamari, and salads). We also went to Il Ritrovo Ristorante up in the hills of Montepertuso - which was simply awesome! Gorgeus views with amazing food - and we got to experience the festivities of the Feast of the Virgin Mary -- which included a fantastic fireworks display! Wonderful shopping is close by - within walking distance. Enza recommended a private boat cruise for us to Capri on board the La Lucia - and it was out of this world! This was a perfect way to end our 2 week Italian vacation. We would highly recommend this spot to anyone considering visiting the Amalfi Coast. You will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: Get an ocean view room with a terrace. Awesome way to enjoy breakfast or an afternoon/evening cockta...

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Marincanto for 7 nights from Thursday June 26th and had the most amazing time.

The main reason for this was the staff - everyone we encountered at the hotel was extremely friendly, helpful and polite and, despite us knowing a bare minimum of Italian, we were able to communicate back and forth effectively.

The hotel itself was also excellent - a wonderful swimming pool, lovely sun deck with beautiful views of the sea and Positano, a varied breakfast selection and great food, especially on the evening restaurant menu.

Our room was a standard double and had plenty of space, as well as being very clean. We had a large bathroom with a shower and small jacuzzi bath and our room had two balconies, one small and one large. While there was a slight obstruction to the view in the form of one of the other hotel buildings (as we were on the first floor) we could still see the sea and the beautiful town from our balconies. Overall it felt like excellent value for the money we paid.

The location was perfect - a short walk into the town and to the beach (there is also a direct staircase from the hotel down to a private beach from which you can reach the public beach and promenade) and literally a 20 second walk from the SITA bus stop which can take you to Amalfi or Sorrento and various places inbetween. There was also an excellent gelato bar just down the road, which is always a bonus! As mentioned earlier the location means you get stunning views both up and down he coast and of Positano itself from the hotel.

The people we met at the hotel were a mixture of nationalities - Australian, American, Italian, British, Brazilian, Uruguayan, Canadian and German, and a mixture of ages but everyone was friendly and nice to be around.

Overall we had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hotel Marincanto and if we return to Positano we will definitely be staying there again!

Room Tip: We were very impressed with out Standard room on the 1st floor but I imagine the rooms higher up mus...

We went to the Hotel Marincanto on the 16th June as we went to Italy for our wedding, upon arrival we were greeted by the lady in reception who was very chatty and welcoming, we would come to learn over the coarse of our two week stay that this level of service runs right throughout the hotel, I really cannot speak highly enough about the staff, they went out of there way for us on many occasions, they would come and chat to you and were so friendly, on our last day they were more than happy to have pictures taken with us, and of course, Gianni at the pool, a great guy who made sure our last day was just as enjoyable as the others. Positano is a dream, we will never forget our stay here and most certainly never forget Hotel Marincanto and its staff, we will certainly return.

Room Tip: We were in room 223, the views from this room are fantastic.

We returned to the Marincanto for our 10 year aniversery, having stayed there on our honeymoon. The Hotel was just as we remembered only with the welcome addition of a pool, complete with pool attendant and resterant. Enjoyed many a glass of something cold whilst in the pool in the early evening! We had a great time, fab views, lovely wine and blue sea.

The only minor issue we had was the bed was a little short, the staff were great, offered us a choice of other rooms but we ended up staying put in our orginal room. We ended up joking with the staff - they said the bed was a standard Italian, my husband at 6'3" is not a standard Italian! It in no way affected our stay!

A special mention should be the breakfeast here - it is too die for. Every morning there was so much choice - cheeses, meats, eggs, tomatos, cereal, fruit, yougart and a whole table devoted to pastries and cake! Best breakfeast in any hotel I have ever stayed. We ate so well we only had lunch twice in the whole week we were there.

As others have said the staff are great, so helpful and friendly.

We love it here, best place in Positano.

Hotel Marincanto completely exceeded our expectations. I couldn't have imagined a more friendly, welcoming (and English speaking!) staff. The room was very clean, the complimentary breakfast was so amazing that we would set our alarms to make sure we didn't sleep through it. Also, I have Celiac Disease so I can't tolerate any gluten. The staff was very responsive and remembered every meal without me even having to ask. The front desk staff happily helped with all of our requests for reservations for meals, day trips and excursions. Even when we were craving a certain meal within a certain distance with a certain dress code, the staff took time to consider our request...and then magically found the perfect restaurant (every time!)
The view was truly breathtaking: from the hotel room (we had the honeymoon suite- AMAZING) to the lobby to the sundeck where everyone sunbathes...and of course the infinity pool...each view was even better than the last.
The pool was pretty chilly but when you're sunbathing and drinking prosecco on the sundeck all day...a nice dip in the chilly pool was perfect (and we went in early June). It's great that there is a poolside food/drink menu available as well. The prices were reasonable and there's nothing better than eating Italian fare while lounging in a beach chair looking out onto the amazing ocean views.
There are two different options to get out sightseeing from the hotel: the beach (approximately 300 steps down...and up!!) or out the front where you can slowly wind down the sidewalks of Positano. The steps heading up from the beach are a haul...but the views and perfect location made it ALL worth it.
Overall, my husband and I agreed that this is the best vacation we have ever taken (and we have traveled a lot!) Positano is beautiful and Hotel Marincanto was exactly what we were hoping for- just do it ;)
