Hotel Marincanto has the feel of being in a glamorous 50s or 60s movie. We had a huge room, with sofa, round table & chairs with balcony and amazing views. The bathroom (with spa) also had a wonderful view of the sea. It is a little tired in parts now- the bathroom spa could definately be replaced. Some of the corridors were also a little shabby. But the upsides are the graceful public rooms, gorgeous breakfast terrace, great pool and delightful staff. Overall a lovely three day stay.

When I was reviewing hotels in Positano I found that there was not a great price difference between Hotel Marincanto and other hotels (3 & 4 star) further up the hill. The nightly rate was still higher than what we would normally pay however the location and amenities make it all worth it!

Wow!! The hotel is beautiful, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and the pool is absolutely worth the extra Euros!

We booked a partial sea view room and we were glad we paid the extra money. The room was very spacious, the bathroom was modern and our small balcony had an amazing view.

The hotel is located just above the spaggia grande and the music on the rocks club/lounge bar. We walked everywhere but to be honest we never wanted to leave the hotel!

One word of advice if you are catching the bus you will get dropped off at the top of the hill so if you can fit your luggage on the internal local bus then jump on however we had two large suitcases and the buses are packed in August (high season) so we had to get a taxi which cost 20 Euro to take us down hill to the hotel.

This review is a year too late. My husband and I stayed her in July 2013 for 8 days. It is a beautiful hotel with one of the nicest pools on the Amalfi Coast. This was my 6th time to the area and we were extremely pleased with the pool and the views from the pool. The staff was wonderful and we were extremely pleased with our stay. We would absolutely return.

The only thing that comes to mind as negative would be the condition of the wooden lounge chairs on the bottom sun deck, they could be replaced as they were not in the best shape.

We hope to return someday soon.

As a number of reviews have said, this is definitely not a cheap hotel to visit but the service, views, food, location and overall ambience make it totally worthwhile. The staff couldn't do enough for us when we were there and service was always accompanied by a cheery disposition.

The hotel does not come cheap and we really did push our budget to the max to afford 3 nights but it was really worthy every single penny. From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left we were treated like royalty by EVERY member of staff from the front desk, to the cleaners to the guy who was running the pool/bar.

Our room was amazing, we paid the cheapest rate so not sure if we were upgraded but it was very spacious, had a balcony with amazing view over positano and every extra you could think of. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and the gardens immaculately maintained, flowing perfectly from the top of the cliff and going down on various tiers (including a sun decking area with great views over Positano) you find amble space to lie down on the freely provided sun loungers.

The real jewel in the crown is the infinity pool - which is sheer luxury - lounging around and looking out over of the sea. You can walk down to beach from the hotel which if you had mobility issues is very steep but otherwise is relatively easy to get down to and the beach itself is lovely. Be warned though the 'heavies' from the restaurant state you are not allowed to stay on the beach [ie put any item such a shirt or towel on the pebbles] without paying for a sundeck. We like others subtly ignored this threat and moved just slightly down the beach out of their view and placed our towels on a rock. To be honest though we just tended to base ourselves up in the hotel sun terrace and then just walk down for a dip in the sea and walk back up.

This hotel is definitely one of the best we've ever stayed in - it was sheer luxury to just enjoy the sun and beautiful scene of Positano. We left totally relaxed - we'd highly recommend a visit even if does mean saving that little bit harder!

My husband and I stayed here 4 nights for our honeymoon. The view was absolutely breathtaking and we had an amazing time on our terrace looking out into the sea and to the coast. We were originally dissapointed being on the 2nd floor above the breakfast area, but it turned out to be fun people watching. Try to get the 2 private chairs early so you can have an extra special private day for the 2 of you! Sitting by the pool with champagne from the hardworking pool boy was the best day we had there.

We only wandered to the beach once, why leave the view from the pool? We hope to come back here someday as it was truly a once in a lifetime experience! Special thanks to Enza for her great dinner recommendations!!!

Fabulous hotel! We stayed in the beautiful Villa with our family of 5. We fell in love with Rafella the older women who grew up in the historic Villa. The view from our Villa was sublime! The morning breakfast was absolutely delicious...best one yet! Antonella the hotel manager was very accommodating...we just loved her!

Room Tip: Stay in the historic Villa :)
