Like probably every hotel in Positano you'll need to be prepared for walking a lot of steps. 350 steps gets you to Palazzo Talamo but once you make it the view is brilliant. If you arrive by Ferry you have a few options - Option 1. there's a local bus which will take you eventually to the hotel or Option 2 there's a service that will bring your bags to the hotel for you. I think they are called "Blu Porter". It costs €8 per bag (no negotiation with them!!) but it's worth it and your bags will be up in a few minutes. Don't try safe money by making an option 3 and trying to carry the bags to the hotel yourself. You'll regret it! My advise is take Option 2 and enjoy the walk and views to the hotel.
Hotel staff were very helpful and always had a nice smile. Cause the hotel is very small and family run, it feels like your the centre of their attention. This is the best hotel I've stayed in while in Italy. Hotel is a bit pricey but you will see why it's worth it when you stay here. Rooms are very clean and bathroom was fantastic. The view from the balcony is beautiful and worth every penny. We use to go to the cheaper restaurants (as to be expected you pay more for restaurants that have a view) and just come back to our balcony and have a glass of wine and look out at the picture perfect view.

I would love to come back and stay here again.

Positano is quite an expensive destination comparing with other Italian cities/towns. We planned to stopover for just one night and decided to search for the most affordable yet decent accommodation. This place turned out to beat my expectation. Staff was welcoming. Very roomy, comfortable and nicely decorated. Even the cheapest room we booked has a private balcony overlooking the Mediterranean. Washroom is a bit small but fully functional and well equipped. One good point to note is that the hotel is literally a few steps away from Tripadvisor No. 1 restaurant in town! The only minus point I found was that the breakfast was just average, but no complaint at all. Highly recommended to those looking for a deal !

Location is great. View from the rooms is awesome. Staff is hit and miss. Hotel is old and a bit grungy feeling but what can one expect for 180eur a night. This is a no frills budget hotel in a great location.

We are two Australian couples in our 50's who spent 4 nights in Positano while touring Southern Italy. We chose Palazzo Talamo for its elevated position and views and we were not disappointed. The hotel is small and the rooms more than met our expectations, spacious, spotless, and overlooking the Mediterranean. The beach area was easily reached via steps next to the hotel, and it was equally nice to return in a more leisurely way via the winding road. Breakfast was lovely and the family owners (Enza and Carmella) were extremely nice and very helpful with information for us. One hint for those who can stay several days – if possible hire one of the small boats for at least 4 hours and motor down the coast to Amalfi – if there is at least four people this will share the cost – it is a bit expensive but well worth it. Also, there is a lovely restaurant right opposite (Da Vincenzo) and several more within 400 metres just up the road from the hotel. We have no hesitation in recommending this lovely small hotel.

Unfortunately, previous illness prevented us from spending all 3 nights at this hotel. Too bad. The hotel is wonderful as is the town. We had a great and fun filled dinner at the restaurant which is partly on the "sidewalk" next to the hotel. The view from the room was breathtaking. The breakfast very nice and the staff excellent.
