Four of us -- two couples -- shared the Victoria Apartment for a week. The two bedroom unit is more than adequate for four people, but what really makes the place special is the terrace that spans the width of the unit and the view from the terrace. The four of us were captivated for about an hour one partly cloudy evening watching the remarkable and constantly changing colors created by the sunset over and into the ocean. Although there is plenty to see in town and the surrounding area, most of our days included at least some time relaxing on that terrace.
The unit also has a fairly well equipped kitchen, and there is a family-run market/deli almost directly across the street from the Villa, and a separate store offering fresh vegetables operated by the same family just a short distance further, so you have the option of dining in your apartment. Even if you don't want to cook, the young lady working at the market makes a sandwich they call the Positano that I enjoyed. One evening we decided to eat out, the Villa's proprietor, Dominic, made reservations for us at a restaurant called Costentinos high above the city. The restaurant sent a car for us, we had one of the best meals of our trip hosted by the owner of the restaurant himself, and then we were driven back to our apartment.
Other reviews accurately point out that there are over 90 steps between the street and some of the Villa's apartments, and that there are a bunch more steps between the Villa and the beach. However, the Villa provided a porter that took care of getting all our luggage to and from our apartment. And there is a local bus with a stop just down the street from the Villa that provides easy access to other parts of the city, including the lower portion just above the beach.
Getting to and from Positano is a bit of a challenge. The Villa arranged for our transportation from the Naples train station, and I am glad that we did not try to drive or take some form of public transportation.
The views from the apartment, the privacy and relaxing setting of the terrace, the availability of a kitchen, the near-by market and bus stop, and the helpfulness of the Villa staff all combined to make our stay at the Villa a wonderful experience.
