“Perfect small hotel for a long week end”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

Great location, as it is on the lowest point of the road, so the closest to the beach you can get by car. The staff was very nice, helpful and understanding. The rooms were clean, but one of them had a smell of humidity unfortunately. The weather was fantastic still in October, so we spent most of our time out of the hotel, which is great as the hotel doesn't have a restaurant and the rooms are rather small.

The hotel is not for "pampered" among us. If you want to enjoy from Positano - better to pay more and get more.
The Hotel location is a good and comfortable, close walking distance to the shopping area and the beach. Near bus station and car parking ( 20-30 euro per night )
The hotel is very clean and minimalist. The staff is friendly and helpful ( not always ).
We had a large and clean room ( superior ) with a very comfortable bed.

So ....
The price of a good place - is a noise of a road below in the terrace of a road, very disturbing at the resort and rest.
We had a room with a "sea view". Really, in the terrace we had amazing view to the mountains. But it's not a sea view . May be only a corner of "sea veiw" after "veiw" of roofs of neighbors.

Breakfast is very poor, even for people not spoiled food. Coffee, croissants (well), boiled eggs, two types of cereal, some dry cakes , yogurt, one type of cheese, some fruit juice .
On leaving we asked to make coffee at 7:00 AM, they told us to get in a half hour. Although we announced the night before an early departure. So we had coffee on the way at a petrol station.

The bathroom is large and clean, but very, very small shower. We had to take a shower with the shower door open we got a room with bidet blockage opened it the next day.
Soap, shampoo and other toiletries products not added at all !!! After I asked for shampoo and received one vial without apology, just bought everything out there.

The staff of reception is very friendly, but I would not trust their recommendations. Some were a mistake as a beach, cruise or restaurant.

It would be better to add another 50-100 Euro per night, and get a real good hotel.

We booked this after our friends recommended the hotel for our Positano stay. We arrived a bit late, and the staff was accommodating, she even upgraded our room. We were so surprised at how wonderfully located the hotel was. It was important for us to be centrally located vs having a view, and it was worth it. We had a very short walk to the beach and many restaurants. The breakfast was great, and the specially made coffee was fantastic. We are so glad we added Positano to our 10 day Italian romantic getaway, it truly was magical.

Room Tip: I would recomend book a room with a courtyard, we spent many nights after dinner with wine on our pa...

This is an excellent location to base yourself in Positano. We visited the Isle of Capri, and the Amalfi Coast from here, attended Church, swam, dined and relaxed during our stay. The excellent car hire company we used to transfer from Naples to Positano was located only metres away - no driving hassles, no porter transfer, no wheeling bags etc. Top spot, very pleasant staff and good facilities

Room Tip: To get a balcony view of the mediterranean, you need to book early

Our party of three couples spent three nights at the Hotel Bougainville in mid October. Everything about our stay was memorable. Parking is conveniently located across the street in a garage at a rate of $30 Euro per night. After the challenging drive from Sorrento to Positanto, the garage is a welcome relief and a great reason not to drive for the remainder of the stay.

The service at this hotel is outstanding. Marela, Andrea, and Rafael go above and beyond to provide excellent service. The breakfast was very nice with a good selection of choices, beautifully presented in the room with a view of the hillside town and the sea. The choices include juices, boiled eggs, cheeses, tomatoes, yogurt, cereal and Rafael's excellent cappuccinos.

The only difficulty is the steep climb up to the lobby followed by the climb up to the rooms. Those traveling with more than one piece of luggage should be forewarned. The rooms were spacious and the bathroom had the best mirror and lighting for make up of all the hotels we experienced,

The wifi was faster than what we had experienced previously at other locations.

The staff provides excellent information such as schedules to Capri and to the Amalfi and recommendations for hotels. Their recommendations for restaurants were very good. One night they recommended a restaurant at the top of Positanto, Il Retrovo, and arranged for the free shuttle at our preferred time. That night was a real memory maker. First of all the ride provided incredible views of the town and the sea. The restaurant gave us the royal treatment, complimentary proseco and bruschetta to start and a nice selection of Italian cookies and liquors to finish. The meals we ordered were really delicious and prices were reasonable. The next day we raved to the staff about that recommendation. The other two restaurants that we visited at their recommendation were also very good. One was a short walk across the street from the hotel (Valle de Moline) in a garden-like setting and the other was on the beach (Tres Sorelle). The food at Tres Sorelle was very good while the service was a strange mixture of hovering and distracted. For the first and only time in three weeks we encountered a menu that specifically stated that the gratuity was not included at Tres Sorelle.

While in Positano we ferried to Capri one day and to Amalfi another day. In addition our time spent exploring Positano was fun and relaxing.

We would not hesitate to return to this hotel and its excellent service.

Room Tip: The extra charge to get a balcony sea view room is well worth the expense. Room 34 not only had a g...

We had a very nice stay for one night at the hotel. We would have loved to stay longer. The hotel was beautiful and clean and the staff was very helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel. The location was perfect. Just a short walk from the bus stop and very close to the shops and restaurants.

Room Tip: Pay a little more and get the room with a balcony.
