We recently spent four nights at the Hotel villa delle Palme in Positano and it was perfect. We arrived by ferry from Salerno. That is a great way to get to this town because you get the postcard view as you arrive. The walk from the ferry to the hotel was not short. We didn't have a lot of luggage. If you have lots of luggage or have trouble walking, you can stop at the church and get the local bus for about 1.2 Euros. We were welcomed by Manuela, who couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. She is a Sandra Bullock look alike! Showed us to our room. We had requested a third floor room because we had read reviews that these rooms had the best views. Manuela told us that they had done some trimming and the second floor rooms had a good view and also larger balconies but we were happy with what we had. The room was spacious, the bathroom large with a good shower. The balcony was very narrow but it did have room for a folding table and two chairs. We had our breakfast on the balcony each day. The breakfast was delivered to your room and included a delicious croissant , a soft boiled egg, yogurt, juice, coffee, roll and jams. It was very good!
Guiliana is a owner and was also very helpful. We had to catch a 7:00 bus to Sorrento to make our connection to the train and a visit to Pompei. We got up early and Guiliana was there to make us coffee and offerred to drive us to the bus because it was pouring. We got to meet Mikela's children, talk with Guilana about the history of the hotel and everyone made us feel very welcomed. We were there early in the season and the rate was 80 E per night. The breakfast would have cost 15E at any of the restaurants! It was a great spot!

Room Tip: Third floor balcony has a good view of the water. Second floor balconies are much larger with a lesser view, but still water view.

We stayed here for four days, and frequently stay in 5 star hotels
The service in this hotel was just as good as the service in some of the other hotels we stay at
They could not have been nicer, more informative, and helpful with all of our needs
Also - we are huge foodies. We thought they were just trying to sell their family restaurant next door, however, in four days we ate there 3 times - very good!

Clean beds and good complimentary breakfast.Would recommend to younger and older.

We foolishly hadn't booked over Easter but (as is so often the case), just as panic was starting to set in, we found one of the nicest rooms in town. Staff were exceptionally warm, welcoming and fun. As it was very wet & windy, we took the easy option and ate at the family's restaurant downstairs and we're very pleased we did, as again we were very well looked after and food was excellent. Building work detracted from the view but it was still very special.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view

We had a great stay here in late April/early May. Based on recommendations on tripadvisor, we requested the room with the private terrace upon booking a month or so prior to the trip. We arrived by car after a short, very scenic drive from Sorrento. Manuela greeted us almost immediately after pulling up. She was incredibly friendly, speaks perfect English, and able to give excellent advice on how to best use our few days we had in Positano. Our bags were also promptly taken up to our room on the 3rd floor (note: no elevator).

The room was a nice, simple layout with a private bathroom. The terrace was almost as large as the bedroom with fantastic views over the water!

Breakfast is served each day on the front terrace off the entrance or, if we opted, on our private terrace. There is a selection of juices, coffee, tea and hardboiled/softboiled eggs. There are also various breads to choose from. For a fuller breakfast, there are several places within short walking distance nearby.

To go down to the main beach, it's a nice downhill walk (about 15-20 minutes). The smaller beach is closer, but involves about 500 stairs that can be reached near the B&B, and they take you all the way down to the bottom. In either case, be ready for the walk back to the top, so make sure your calf muscles are well exercised! You can, of course, take a bus or get a cab (the B&B staff will be happy to help you arrange this).

We preferred the larger beach as it was closer to more activities, shops and restaurants. We also were able to rent a boat for the day there and had an amazing experience going down to the town of Amalfi and back at our own pace.
