Our primary reason for stopping here: We lived nearby 22 years ago and loved it, so we wanted to return. I'm so glad we did. The room has changed (it's larger now and no longer has the pond of live fish we found so entrancing), and the atmosphere seemed more casual. The cooking, however, was very serious indeed. As before, we put ourselves in the hands of the waiter to bring us whatever was best for antepasto. He brought oysters, sea anemone, razor clams, and more--all amazingly good. Our pastas were perfect. Coffee and dessert were lovely, too. Dario, our waiter (and possibly the owner) is handsome and affable, and made us completely at home.
The location is...interesting. Driving there is not for the faint of heart, nor parking for the unlucky. My DH has parking karma and found a spot. And live entertainment was provided by fishermen weighing and selling their catches just outside the door.
