We stumbled on this place after checking in at some of the local big name places, like San Pietro and the likes and were shocked by the prices, and we're not bargain shoppers, but on principle looked further afield and found this gem. Mostly Italians and European guests. A unique spot, upon the bluffs overlooking the Amalfi coast and Portofino. Multi story, built into the hill, so to speak. Very lovely and like home - treated like familia, once cut through the "American" stigma, but not all together, even over the course of a week. The hotel also overlooks a school, with a gorgeous sun-spot mosaic design decorating the playground. With half-board, the experience was amazing. The food, old school southern Italian, was unbelievable. A nice walk down to the beach (rocky) through a bougainvillea lined path was quaint and beautiful. The only nearby "beach" area, just south of the hotel and one of the few public ones, was nice and had amenities and chairs/service, but everything was at a small cost, and I did not bring along my wallet, so we were limited to one chair! The pool, high atop the hotel, provided some of the most amazing views on the planet. None better, just different. A short drive into town and down to other nearby villages, but the drive, on a narrow, bluff-side road frequented by large buses, is not for the meek. This is the more gentile and quite side of Positano, where time has stood still for, well, for quite a while. Highly recommended if not looking for flash, but a great, relaxing time.
