I am a bit surprised at all of the positive reviews as our experience here was not very good. There were four of us who dined here and not one of use found our dishes to be very good. The fish was not fresh, the pasta was barley palatable and the service was marginal. We only ate here because all of the other places we tried were packed and we couldn't get in. I guess that explains why we were the only people dinning here the entire hour and a half we were there. The only good thing I can say about this place is the lovely views of the Mediterranean.

This was not the best resturant we ate at, they had a tourist menu and if you have read about tourist menus, take it to heart, the food was not the best we had while in Praiano. The only nice thing is this resturant overlooked the water and had a nice atomosphere

My husband and I arrived in Praiano, Italy after a harrowing, white-knuckled Fri evening drive along the coast. We were in need of an oasis and found it.

The restaurant in the Hotel Smeraldo offers dining both indoors and outside on the spacious terrace. The view of the coastline is spectacular (much better to look at than to drive at night) and sitting on the terrace was a pleasure on a warm Oct evening. Petra, one of the owners, served us and helped us relax and feel at home.

My husband ordered their 3-course "tourist dinner" while I opted for a fresh fish entree. His dinner was generous enough that we both nibbled on the bruschetta appetizer. He loved the first course, gnocchi, and found the veal second course to be very nicely cooked. Dessert was ok but we're not that fond of Italian desserts anyway. My fish was excellent and I really appreciated being served grilled vegetables as part of the meal without any extra charge. After being in Italy for 3 weeks, we've had a lots of pasta but few veggies. All of this cost 50 Euros including a bottle of their good local wine.

We enjoyed the restaurant and people so much that we returned for caffee latte one afternoon and another dinner. We also appreciated being able to use Smeraldo's wifi both during dinner and when we dropped by during the day.

We ate twice at this restuarant and enjoyed the food. Good value. A lovely setting and friendly helpful staff.
We were kindly offered a lift back to our hotel both times.

This was an unbelievable meal! Fabulous wine. Treated us like family. Complimentary bruschetta, wonderful pasta, the veal with tomato sauce was the best we've ever had and the lemon cake is beyond good. All while watching the sunset over the sea and Positano. Gave us shots of Limoncello from the local Il Gusto de Lacosta which was heavenly!!!! All in all the best meal and dining experience yet on Amalfi Coast and the views cannot be beat. Go and eat there- you won't be disappointed!
