I've spent 3 nights at the Margherita and I had a wonderful time. The location is very good, with a fantastic view of the Mediterranean and conveniently located between Positano and Amalfi. Parking is just across the street. I've seen buses passing in front of the hotel so I guess that just adds to the convenience if you choose to use that method of transportation. Although I must note that if you are looking for walking distance things, this may not be the best location.

Also somewhat close by is the Praia de Marini (or just ‘Praia’, as they call it) a spot you cannot miss. It is a 15-20 minute walk, well worth it but the way back can be hard because of the amount of steps and also the wine you had at one of the restaurants at Praia. Anyways, I highly recommend it.

Back to the hotel, this is a family run hotel, very nice and friendly staff. The rooms were of a good size, we had a nice balcony overlooking the sea and the cost line where we enjoyed wine in the evenings – very, very nice. The bed was a little uncomfortable for my taste, but we've stayed in other hotels in Italy and they all had a somewhat hard mattress, maybe it is just how it is.

They serve a simple but tasty breakfast and at night they server dinner either downstairs next to the lobby or on the rooftop, weather permitting. We had dinner there one night and the food was pretty good! We just didn’t eat there more days because we like to try a different place every time.

On the downside, my trip was during the spring and temperatures during the evening/night on the 50’s. The room’s AC was disabled, temperatures were comfortable but in order to sleep well I had to leave the balcony door open to get some of the cool air. Initially sounds like a great idea, but later on I found out that it gets noisy really early – a few cars on the road, people talking (Italians are loud) a rooster… every day early morning I had to close the glass door which had a very good sound insulation and the problem was solved. Anyways, it was somewhat bothersome but not enough for me to ask the front desk for help, I am sure they could provide me with a fan or maybe enable the AC if I needed, but I just didn't feel like it was necessary. If you visit during the summer I am sure the AC will be functional.

Overall this is a great place to stay and I’d definitively come back!

This hotel is situated in Praiano which is in the middle of towns Amalfi and Positano. Praiano is small pretty town which has few lovely restaurants, one of them located in the bay called Il Pirata which is only a 20 minutes walk from a hotel and well worth the visit. However if you don't fancy walking this hotel offers a drop off or pick up from the beach which is a great touch and adds to the experience in staying in this hotel. Staff is extremely helpful and keen to give you all the tips about visiting specific places around the coast. Buses to Positano run from just outside hotel and they run every hour or thereabouts but hotel will supply you with the timetable. Best and easiest way is to take bus as parking will be near impossible in Positano. Down the road in the centre of Praiano buses run to Amalfi town which is lovely too. Restaurant in hotel serves beautifully cooked food for lunch or diner, breakfast is ok. Hotel terrace is very nice and relaxing with lovely view, there is a small pool but we haven't used it as we visited in April and was still a little bit too cold to go in. We had a room with nice balcony overlooking sea and room was comfortable and big enough. Our experience in Margherita was very positive and I would return if we traveled to Amalfi again.

First of all, keep in mind this is a three stars hotel. Considering this, is a great place to stay. The staff is welcoming, friendly and was helpful every single time we needed something. The rooms are simple but clean and functional. Unfortunately, some nights were not as cool as some others and as the a/c was centrally turned off, it got quite warm inside the rooms as we had the glass doors shut due to eventual street noise. If you are a heavy sleeper the open doors will bring and awesome breeze in and you will be just fine. The pillows are not the best, so if you are picky take your own with you.
The breakfast doesn't have many options, but everything there has great taste and quality. Did I mention their cappuccino and espressos are amazing? The omelets and scrambled eggs are made to order - you can't go wrong with that.
The restaurant in the hotel is out of this world. Seriously. Food made simple but delicious.
The hotel location is great is relatively close to other cities in the Amalfi coast and to the beach. I would definitely stay at Margherita hotel when we come back to Praiano.

Our stay in Hotel Margherita was really good. It is a family run hotel, with beautifully renovated rooms and easy access to all the main villages in the Amalfi coast.

First of all, and most importantly, the staff and the managers are just super nice and helpful. They were very efficient, they gave us tons of information and help both about the nearby attractions and about hikes in the area.

The room itself, a regular double was very nice. It's size was adequate and it had a small balcony overlooking the sea. Bathroom was nice as well. Everything was super clean.

Parking, a huge problem in the area, wasn't an issue. The hotel has enough parking facilities, and even if you can't find a spot, they'll be happy to park your car for you.

The hotel lobby, where breakfast is also served is very nice, and there is also a cool balcony with amazing views and a nice swimming pool.

Overall, both for location (about 10 minutes drive from Positano and 20 from Amalfi), hospitality and comfort, I think this place is well recommended!

I can't say enough about Hotel Margharita! Recommended by friends, the hotel and the owners - Suela and Andrea - are as perfect as perfect gets! Our room was clean, spacious, bright, and had a fantastic view of the sea. Praiano is a beautiful little place with lots of walking paths/roads that take you to heights from where you get panoramic views of the coast line and the homes that magically hang off the cliffs. We would not trade our 4 days in Praiano with any other spot on the Amalfi Coast. There is a grocery store within walking distance with fruits, bread, drinks, small bottles of wines and as much cheese as you want. Suela is a fantastic ambassador for the area! Friendly, cheerful, and incredibly hardworking, she and her husband run a tight ship! We wanted to rent a car and they gladly let us rent one of their vehicles with clear instructions on where to go. You'll definitely want to eat breakfast at the hotel and for lunch you can walk to the center of town or have a meal on the hotel's terrace. For dinner, you can eat at the hotel or visit the little restaurant next door called Jolly (ask them to make you grilled fish which is not on the menu). You will not go wrong with your decision to stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: Definitely get a seaside room!

Praiano on the Amalfi Coast is a wonderful little village and we visited in April out of the crazy Italian holiday season. Suela and staff welcomed us from the start. Our baggage had gone missing and Suela went above and beyond in trying to locate it for us. There is parking outside and if there's not enough room your car will be moved into the garage and moved back again for you when you need it. We received nothing but friendly and helpful service - even when we forgot our key and came back very late when the hotel was shut for the night. We had beautiful views from our balcony overlooking the coast. We ate some good food, local dishes, different from the tourist menus you often get in hotels. We would definitely recommend this hotel if you want to stay out of the main tourist trap and have something a little more tranquil but fully accessible for the whole coast line. Just be prepared for walk back up the hill at night - if your back before 7, the hotel will pick you up from the village!

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Margherita. The rooms are extremely average. Do not expect up to date accommodations, however the rooms are clean. Our balcony was pleasant and offered a fantastic view. The real gem of this hotel is the location. You are back from the busy street but still get an amazing view for an affordable price and easy walking distance to the town. In addition the restaurant is fantastic. We ate there for both nights and could not believe how good it was. Would definitely stay again.
