The staff couldn't have been more friendly and the location was perfect, the town of praiano is small enough that it was very peaceful, but no more than 30 minutes driving or bus riding from most of the nearby cities on the coast. We never had any problems while we stayed and the staff was a wealth of information about the local area, where to eat, where to visit, and they also transported us from and to local areas free of charge. The hotel restaurant was also amazing!

You can't go wrong with this hotel. It is a perfect central location to stay and take day trips by bus or car to the surrounding coastline cities like Amalfi, Ravello, Positano, and Sorrento. All within a 15 minute drive (not including traffic...we were there in the off-season). You can also go to Capri.

The rooms are big and comfortable, nice big bathrooms too. Our view was amazing...I felt like we had the penthouse suite! We just watched the peaceful ocean for hours every day.

We were never bothered by hall noise or noise from other rooms.

Every morning we had breakfast downstairs. Fresh baked pastries (chocolate croissants!!), cereal, rolls, nutella, butter, jam, fruit, and yogurt were all sitting out. Then when you were seated the owner (older woman) and her daughter (blonde woman) would come around ask if you wanted eggs and fresh meat/cheese. Cooked to order! Also coffee, espresso, cappucino, juice. I got a chocolate croissant immediatly out of the oven and it was heavenly.

Dinner is excellent at the hotel. The waiter (a young, tall man) is fantastic. There are maybe 10 tables and every night is a different menu. For 22 Euro per person, you got a choice of two 1st, two 2nd, and two dessert courses. We ate there twice and it was very good. Lunch is also an option. They will make you whatever you want! We did not do this but friends of ours did and said it was great.

The blonde woman (sorry I don't know her name!!) speaks english and will help you plan your days and help you with a map and the bus schedule. Will also help with ferries to Capri.

We were in Praiano at the end of March so it was the first week of the 'season'. It was not busy, no traffic (we rented a car in Rome and drove which was very fun), and no lines for anything. It is not warm enough to swim this time of year and we did have a drizzeling rain one evening. But we prefer this type of travel.

Make sure to go to Sorrento! It is not very far from Praiano. We did not go until we left because we thought it was too far then kicked ourselves when passed it just a little farther then Positano. And Pompeii is doable too, but that is in Naples and would take the whole day (driving but seeing).

I could not believe the price we paid for this incredible hotel! Book here with no fear. Have a wonderful trip!

Before I booked this hotel I read the reviews and they were spot on. The staff at the hotel are very welcoming. The room was bright and looked over the sea and lovely view. The hotel is about 15 mins drive from Amalfi and similar distance from Positano. We would definately recommend this hotel

We drove to Almalfi for 3 days and were pleased with our booking at the Hotel Margherita. We drove down upon arrival from States into Rome and the drive was just about 3 hours. We liked this hotel because of 1) the views as stated 2) had ample free and easy parking which is rare in Almafi area given the steep sloaps and shortage of street spots 3) was pretty quiet inside hotel and 4) coming "off" season we found very few restaurants open in the area so having a restaurant on-site was very convenient and the food and beverage were very good and reasonably priced. Most restaurants don't open until mid-April when it gets warmer. The breakfast is good and they do offer omlets (which are really just scrambled eggs) but pleased my husband who likes more than just rolls, dry goods and coffee for breakfast! If you come during peak season I can only image how pretty this hotel would be with their pool, deck and location. A pharmacy and small grocery store are just down the street to the left facing the coast and easy to access as the street is not steep in this part. We had room 26 and for a family of 4 it had a queen bed and two single beds plus a large and modern bathroom which was perfect for us. There is a small elevator (lift) in the building. If you do plan to drive during off season and are comfortable driving in Italy (bigger cities) you should be fine. I would seriously consider not driving during peak times as the travel between towns is not very easy with increased peak tourist, local and bus traffic and very narrow coastal roads. We had a few "OH BOY" moments on the road just off season. We did travel to Pompei, Capri and the other coastal towns during this short stay so it is doable to do more than just stay in Praiano, again, seaonal traffic would be the issue here for your daily travel agenda.

We stayed three nights at Hotel Margherita.

The view is across the amalfi coastline. Praiano is situated between Amalfi and Positano. It is a fine location as it is not as commercialed as either of the other stops.

The rooms were older, with renovated bathrooms. We had balconies with superb views, especially at sunrise and moonrise.

The owners and their staff were exceptionaly friendly and helpful. They offered to drop us off and pick us up from the bus each day, we we utilised on arriving and leaving.

We had one dinner included and it was a pleasant evening of reasonable value,

We also enjoyed the breakfast buffett and the attention of the waitress who assisted in making sure that everything was suitable.

We are very happly with having stayed here.

4 of us stayed at Hotel Margherita in June 2008 and enjoyed ourselves. Andrea was very helpful and informative, and our rooms were spacious with beautiful views. Two of us stayed in and ate at the hotel one night and had a nicer and cheaper meal than our friends who went to the town centre. Andrea picked us up after we had dinner at a local restaurant as it was a hike in the dark we were not game to try. The hotel photos you see on their site is true compared to some other hotels where there is a gap between reality and the hotel photos.

We stayed at Praiano as medium priced accommodation with sea views was simply not available at Positano and made the right choice as the bus to Positano comes by so it is very convenient and Praiano is not as crowded. Positano is so crowded we will give it a miss next time and explore more of the area in and around Praiano.
