This hotel is amazing and the service is outstanding! We spent two nights there in July 2014 and would love to return soon.
The city of Ragusa is well worth a visit, this hotel is located in the central parts and you've got everything you want close, within walking distance. The staff speaks english and is more than happy to help, tehy really go that extra mile for you. We got a lot of help with booking of wine tasting and maps to find our way there. We also spent some time in the hotel spa, nothing better than to start your day with a massage!
We didn't have dinner at the hotel but the breakfast was the best I've ever seen. When we asked for something they didn't have on their tables, the waitress immediately fixed it. I'd also like to point out the coffee, which was very satisfying after having bad coffee-experiences at other hotels on Sicily.
I'd recommend everyone to go there and spend a night or two.
Greetings from Sweden

We booked here thinking we were going to be in the old town: turned out we were in the old part of the new town!! The staff were lovely and extremely helpful, and the breakfasts were fine though there were ever so many cakes each day on the table.
I think there are two main problems with this hotel, accommodation and seating areas.
We booked a superior room - but we couldn't work out what part of the room was superior as it seemed basic all round to us. We asked for another room and were advised we would have to upgrade (at a price) to a deluxe room. What a difference that made. We had a larger bedroom, we had a chair, we had a decent sized bathroom, we had a balcony, we had a chest of drawers and the view was not on to a back court.
In the superior (basic) rooms there is no space, and there is nowhere to put clothes as there is only hanging space in the wardrobe, the dressing table has just two tiny drawers and the bedside tables had curved surfaces so that there was only space for the lamp to sit there. The wardrobes need to be shelved at one side and there needs to be a chest of drawers in each room. We had to leave our clothes folded in the suitcase and take stuff out of there. The management could do with taking their suitcase in to a room and unpacking clothes to see what I'm talking about.
The other problem for us was there was not a comfortable seat in the entire hotel for us to sit and relax in for any length of time. The bedrooms had no chairs in the superior (basic) rooms and the deluxe rooms had only an upright chair. There was no lounge to sit in where there were comfortable chairs and the outside space had 3 tables each with a few chairs, all of the upright variety.
Consequently at the end of a day sightseeing, when we returned to relax for a couple of hours before we went out for dinner we could sit upright or we could lie on a bed to read but nowhere was there a sofa or easy chair. We didn't mind this at first but after a week here we were missing a big comfortable chair!
The hotel seemed a bit like a ghost town, there were signs there were other guests and occasionally we bumped in to a couple at breakfast but we rarely met anybody and consequently there was no atmosphere about the place to suggest this was a lively busy hotel.
One of the reviewers said it was a 20 minute walk downhill to the old town but it took us about 35 mns down to the square and there was no way we would have considered walking back uphill at the end of the evening. Instead we got a bus back up the hill from the old town to the new town at about 11pm for the grand sum of just over a euro and then a 5/10 minute walk along the via Roma to the hotel.
Would I stay here again? Probably not as all the action was down in the old town called ragusa ibla and most of the nice atmospheric trattorias and restaurants are to be found there. We did hit the jackpot however as by chance the week we stayed there was the week of the Ragusa music festival, the Ibla Grand Prize, and we were well serenaded by musicians of all nationalities as they competed for the prize.

Room Tip: Go for as high a standard as you can afford

For a little inconvenience it is possible to enjoy Ragusa Ibla and this lovely establishment. The common areas are ornate, if a little under-used and the outdoor areas limited with no views. We booked basic rooms, all are comfortable and quiet but I suspect there are others that are more impressive. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Ignazio, who happily helped us. The walk from Ibla is 20 minutes and steep so be prepared. The local bars and restaurants are minutes away and are authentically unpretentious.

Very good location, charming reception, rooms with lots of character. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. Although the sicilian breakfast was not our favourite (lots of cakes), everything works well with us.

If you are an American tourist visiting Ragusa this is a great hotel for you. If not I would try to find a place in the old town.

We stayed here for two nights and it was good. Staff was nice and helpful and the room was attended to several times a day. The house itself is spectacular but the room we got, a superior, was more like an average modern business hotel.

In conclusion we where happy with our stay but considering the quite high price and the standard of our room it would not be my first choice if I were to visit Ragusa again.

We had a memorable stay at this truly beautiful hotel. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. After we were shown to our room we were taken on a tour through this amazing palazzo. The buffet breakfast was vast and comprehensive and the rooms where we ate it a joy. The staff were all very pleasant and very competent, especially Heloise and Michele, and gave good advice when asked. Michele hired a car and driver for us one day so we could visit other towns and sites and this was a great success. We look forward to returning one day.

This hotel is located inside a small palace erected following the late 17th century earthquake that destroyed much of Ragusa. It combines palatial opulence with modern touches and style. You turn off the main road Into a charming stone courtyard and the hotel entrance is on the left. The amazing front desk staff will park your car for you, check you in, and whisk your bags to your room. They are also excellent at arranging for tours, dinner reservations, and transportation back and forth. You are made to feel like a welcome guest in a private home. Dinner can be arranged on the terrace but it can get windy so only go that route if it is a calm and warm evening; there are many dining options either walking distance in Ragusa proper or a short taxi ride away in the old town of Ibla. Regardless you must visit Ibla to get the charm of this medieval city, very walkable and safe. Ragusa has a tremendous collection of Baroque buildings so bring your camera as the style is not to be missed. While the hotel has no bar per se, the staff will serve you drinks in one of the gilded private rooms on the second floor, making you feel a bit like the Baron himself. Breakfast rooms are also on the second floor, and the fare is simple and traditional Sicilian.

Room Tip: Each room has its own unique charm and trendy touches which are worked in to the decor. We reserved...
