“Great place for relaxation in the Southern Sicilian coutryside”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

Very good accomodation experience in Sicily. Relais Parco Cavalonga is an easy accessible, perfect and quiet oasis in the Southern Sicilian countryside, with famous Donnafugata Palace close by. Relais Parco Cavalonga represents an excellent resort for relaxing, walking and treckking activities. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. There are two big, nice and absolutely clean swimming pools. Service staff is helpful and attentive. Relais Parco Cavalonga's inhouse restaurant, where meals were not really to our liking and seemed a little bit overpriced, leaves room for improvement. However, as good alternatives are near by, we nevertheless had a great time in Relais Parco Cavalonga.

- We (2 parents and 2 kids) stayed in appartment Donnafugata: Lots of space, clean room's and baths and nicy furniture.
- The swimming pools were just filled for the season and very cold but still very relaxed with the excellent sunny days in April. A lot of leaves from the nice surrounding trees and bushes but cleaned every day !
- Not to close to the seaside (15 min drive)and a lot of greenhouses in the area) but perfect for day trips in the East of Sicily (we went as far as "Etna/Piazzamarina/Syracuse etc).
- Nice staff, helpfull with everything. With the "hotel like rooms" they have a "hotel like" service. Breakfast/lunch/diner also for appartments residents if liked (we used it when arriving and leaving). Breakfast was perfect (although some people complained the lack of Englisch Breakfast), Diner was good.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Donnafugata appartment. Clean and newly refurbished. Some other appartments seem to...

The beautiful nature surrounding the relais welcomed us again in the Ibla valley. Even in a cold spring Relais Cavalonga is always the perfect place to spend some relaxing days. Walking in the relais' park admiring the blossoming flowers and the hares crossing the way, always with a perfect sea view, has been amazing as swimming in the beautiful pools during the summer. Escaping from a big city this is definitely the place to be.
See you next year

My husband, 15 year old son and I recently spent 4 nights in the Donnafugata apartment, and loved every minute. The resort is nestled amongst rolling hills just south of Ragusa, with gorgeous views of the Mediterranean. It is perfectly located for day trips in the baroque town area of south east Sicily. Ragusa, Modica, Ispica, Scicli, Punta Secca - all are less the 30 minutes away. Donnafugata castle is just down the road - you could walk if you wanted to. Noto and Chiarmonte Gulfi were also easy drives for lunch, and although we didn't so it, you could day trip to Siracusa. The resort property is beautiful, although we didn't make use of the common facilities other than a lovely hike through the property on our last day. The apartment was well-equipped and very spacious for the 3 of us. The 2 bedrooms and bathrooms surrounded the very large living dining room, and there was a small but efficient kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, full sized fridge, oven and gas stove. Outside, there was a lovely terrace with table, as well as a small lawn for the private use of the apartment. There was a power failure when we were there, and Giacomo, the caretaker, was promptly up with flashlights and candles, and he kept us apprised of what was happening. The Cavalonga would be a lovely holiday spot to relax and enjoy the property, just as it was a great place to use as a base to explore the area. It was very hard to leave, and we hope to return some day.

We spent 10 days in this hotel in august with 3 children and had an amazing time. We had one of the apartments "Ulivo" which was very spacious , beautifully decorated and we especially loved the courtyard for breakfast and in the evenings we would sit in the terrace and gaze at the wonderful stars. The swimming pools were brilliant especially the infinity pool which we had more or less to ourselves most of the time!
The hotel restaurant was nice enough but a little too "masterchef" like for us to dine in more than a few times but there was a vast choice of restaurants in the vicinity as long as you have a car.
It would have been better if the apartment rates would have included a maid service , this was only available for an extra price and there was no cleaning materials provided in order to do your own cleaning which was a bit of a nuisance if you used the klitchen and it was difficult to clean up after ourselves.
However overall an beautiful place from which to explore the region of ragusa.

Room Tip: Ulivo apartment block had a lovely terrace to gaze upon the stars at night.

We stayed in the Carubo house for a week and it was absolutely lovely. Nice big house, two bathrooms, nice terras with a parasol for shade (you need it), But the best was the lovely infinity pool! If I come back to Sicily I will definitely come back here as well.
