We recently had the pleasure to stay at the delightful Eremo della Giubiliana near Marina di Ragusa. We ate several times at the elegant restaurant including lunch with a special menu on Easter Sunday. The food was beautifully prepared and served. The chef has a delicate hand and is creative with his selection of flavours and colours. He makes excellent use of produce grown at the eremo (the olive oil is outstanding) and from the area. We thought that the breads, cakes and "dolci" we had here and throughout this beautiful area of Sicily are the best we have had anywhere in Italy. The waiter, Pepe, both attentive and professional is always happy to describe each course to you in detail in either Italian or English. Breakfast was particularly good value with a real spread of pastries, cakes, cereals, hams, cheese, juices and even scrambled eggs, bacon and grilled tomatoes for the Brits!
Given the exceptional quality of the food, the ambience of both the restaurant and the hotel plus the service, prices are reasonable although wine by the glass is not a cost-effective option unless you stick to one! If you are looking for a romantic (tall candle sticks on the table) evening in an elegant setting this is the place for you.
