This beautiful B & B is a garden of Eden only 12 kilometers from Ragusa.
We particularly enjoyed the rustic charm of the beautiful garden where we spent many a long hour sitting under Carob trees. Fantastic discreet hospitality . Excellent food and beautiful rooms.
Highly recommend to anyone who wants to experience the real Sicilian countryside. A great Escape.

Room Tip: We had the garden room which was simply charming with beautiful antique Sicilian furniture and very...

We were warmly welcomed back for another memorable stay in this beautiful and tastefully restored house in its lovely location; this time to celebrate a special birthday. Nothing has changed; the same care and attention to detail, the same friendly and hospitable hosts. Silvia & Giuseppe are exceptional, I believe, in the way they are prepared to share their home so generously with others. Happy memories! We will do our best to emulate Giuseppe's cooking if we can......

First the good points:
Silvia makes an effort with her guests and first impressions are warm and welcoming.
The house is pretty and the area amongst the olive groves is nice
There are some lovely pets (cats and a dog) and a cute little garden at your disposal.

Now for our experience which unfortunately comes under the bad points:
Essentially this is an overpriced B&B and if you read the customer reports (even the good ones) there are some common themes emerging.
After several nights on the road, we picked this B&B as a beautiful country retreat to essentially relax at. To be fair that’s how it’s marketed… aperitifs in an array of locations - clubroom, hall, cellar, library home-cooked meals, cooking classes, yoga etc. For us we would have settled with the simple offer of an evening meal on arrival but we suspect that as it was the busy olive picking season that this wasn’t possible?
A whole bunch of rules prevented this from becoming our oasis of tranquility (including being out of our room by 10:30am each morning, not being able to sit outside in the sunshine with a drink or to eat breakfast). Maybe this would have been an ideal location for someone who wants to use it as a base to explore and eat out each night but this clearly didn’t fit with what we intended nor what was portrayed on the website.
On arrival we had been shown a gorgeous roof terrace, a cosy lounge/hall with a fire place and a dark but pleasant library and we got truly excited about what looked like a lovely location. The reality was a little different and unfortunately because the owners were both out in the olive fields, many of these doors were locked. Amazingly we were informed on the first evening that in fact the gorgeous lounge area we had been shown only a few hours earlier had since been rented out to another family exclusively and was now out of bounds. Even the lovely terrace was gated off with a sign marked “private” – the owner allowed us to use it but it very much felt like a favour to us.
We had the Rose room - it was small and quaint but would have benefited from drinking water, a fridge, and in the absence of our hosts, some tea making facilities. In essence these deficiencies wouldn’t have been a problem at other locations but you are obviously a 20 minute drive from anywhere (which is its charm, but also a drawback in these circumstances with nobody around to help)… and all this for 160 euros for the cheapest room – incidentally the most expensive room of our entire honeymoon!
We got the impression that the owners have a very rigid idea of what services they will offer instead of looking at it from a guest’s point of view. The disappointment arose because we very much felt that there was a vast difference between what was suggested on the website (and indeed by other reviewers) and what we were offered.
We are experienced, extremely flexible and positive travellers – and this is the first time we have ever written an even mildly negative review but we booked four nights and stayed for one. Whilst we suspect other peoples’ experiences appear much better than ours, we feel that this is very much dependent on what services and access the owner decides they want to grant at the time.

Room Tip: Rose room cute but small - bathroom very cramped even if you're petite

All visitors to Tenuta Cammarana must be struck by the beauty of the buildings and immediate surroundings (reached by a long rough road through very earthy farms), and then by the warmth and kindness of Silvia. (We saw little of Giuseppe because they were in the midst of the olive harvest and he was working very long days..there was no opportunity to try his famed culinary skills.) We arrived tired at about six pm and were shown into the little Rose Room, adequate and charming but in no way luxurious. Silvia offered us welcome drinks in the cactus garden where we saw the last of the sunset and the first of the full moon. We were told that for two of our three nights we would not have access to the library, the only place to sit outside our room, as that had been committed to other guests. After a shower we were off again for a delicious simple meal at the trattoria at Castello Donafugata, about 15-20 minutes drive away. The following morning breakfast, which others have described, was little short of divine. Silvia is lovely and gave us tea in her own living room that afternoon and helpful advice generally. We left with affection for the place and the people, Because of the somewhat high price, even at the end of the season, I make the following suggestions/comments. It would be pleasant to sit outside in the courtyard now the heat has relented -- could chairs be provided?. Our room would have benefitted from bottled water, a box of tissues, a wastebasket other than the bathroom bin, and television (even if we wouldn't have watched it much!). It is a lovely spot to go to but isolated.

Room Tip: The Rose Room and the one with the garden, the classic rooms, are not luxurious.

The last part of our trip to Sicily, we stayed for 2 nigths (it was a weekend so they required a minimal 2 day booking) the room we wanted was not available any more, so we got the 'Rose' room.. (Strangely enough we only saw 2 other guests during our stay, so not sure why we had to take this room specifically ?)

The room was ok, small windows although and a very small bathroom, always a bit weird when you need to open the shower doors to be able to sit comfortable on the toilet (and we're normal size).. Not so good was the bed, it was quite hard, only the second night we discovered that underneath the mattress there was only a wooden board...

Silvia, the owner, was a very nice lady and gave us lot's of good advice on places to visit (we went to Ibla and Saracusa, and along the coast she pointed us out some nice stops), her terrace upstairs is to die for, such a great view ! This place is very tranquil and it's a bit of a drive away from the nearby villages, so coming back at night you might easily get lost (our gps didn't recognize the address)

This place is good if you don't mind to drive a bit around to get somewhere ( we don't mind) ..

If you seek an immersive experience in the culture and history of Sicily, a stay at Tenuta Cammarana with owners Silvia and Giuseppe La Padula, who go out of their way to ensure each guest’s stay is a memorable one is a must! So memorable was a dinner with Silvia, Giuseppe, and friends on the terrace overlooking the beautiful countryside. Giuseppe, who is also a sculptor, made delicious Sicilian delicacies including pastas, fresh seafood, and homemade desserts—all served family-style and with endless amounts of local wines.

A great location, great property, great bedroom, great food. Number one!
We have tremendously enjoyed our one week vacation in Sicily.
"Tenuta Cammarana" allowed us to reach a few wonderful sites in Val di Noto so very interesting to see. Our walks in the nearby country were absolutely inspiring and romantic. They helped us increase our mutual love. Wonderful restful conversations in the garden enjoying the beauty of the sunset while drinking a regional Etna wine. We got in touch with interesting guests and we shared experiences and opinions. For dinner we enjoyed delicious homemade food made on the site with local produce.
Our room was very pleasant, extremely clean and taken care of, wonderful cotton and linen sheets. The personnel was kind and private. The old gardner was very devoted and told us interesting stories related to the estate and its surroundings.
Awesome experience we strongly recommend.
