The hosts were utterly charming, helpful, thoughtful and knowledgeable. On arrival we were welcomed by Una and Santi who quickly got our bags to the rooms, Santi accompanied my husband to park the car [which was free] and within walking distance of the house. Very thoughtfully milk and a bottle of water had been placed in the fridge which was a nice touch when you arrive somewhere gasping for a cup of tea. Everything was lovely and clean, the rooms were pleasant and comfortable. There is a substantial amount of information on the area in a file in the room, there is a bakery which also sold sciacce [the local dish] a few metres up the road. The house is very close to the pedestrian area Via Roma but despite this the house is quiet.
This is a part of Sicily we have never visited before and we intend to return.
This property was such good value that we thought there would be something wrong with it but there really wasn't. The location and apartment were exactly as described. The apartment is small but fine for two people. We arrived in the early evening and the owners had dinner ready for us - very unexpected and very welcome. One of the owners is English and offered much helpful advice - they also suggested things to see that we would never have discovered on our own. The stairs are very steep so not for people who have issues with that but they have a winch for the luggage so you don't need to carry it up. Definitely a good place for Montalbano fans and one of the best cake shops I've ever been to just round the corner.
