My second visit and as usual not let down. comfortable rooms, and incredible breakfast, and very helpful staff. This tiny village of Ibla, has alot to boast in a very small area. Thanks again for making us feel welcome.

Ragusa Ibla is a magnificent town that was rebuilt in the baroque style after the original town fell to an earthquake in the 1600's. 20 years ago, the town was in decay, but it's slowly being polished up to it's former glory. Hotel Il Barocco is a hidden gem, that feels overshadowed (in a good way) by the nearby palaces and cathedrals.

I stayed here in May 2012 and had a very good experience. The rooms are comfortable, and fairly large, but the noise travels between them. The night porter lounged around on the sofa in the common area watching TV, this too carried down the halls ways and into the rooms. The place is spotless - the smell of cleaning products ever present, some like this, I don't. Front desk staff, and the owners are friendly, and extremely helpful. Breakfast was good and very abundant, and the night porter was always happy to make a cappuccino for us when we were up long before breakfast started. Cocktails in the garden were a great way to end the day, not to mention the samples each night of lemoncello and madarino...

I'd stay here again in a flash!

If it seems like I rate everywhere I stay quite high, it's probably because I do a ton of research first, including at times checking the hotels out in person before I stay.

Room Tip: Try to get one of the two rooms in the "dependance" which is a separate little building in...

Ragusa Ibla is magical.

This hotel is about a minute's stroll from the main square.

Our room had a balcony and overlooked the quiet road that ran past the front entrance.

Negative points: it was a bit cold on our first night and the extra blanket provided wasn't really enough. Also the place is a little bit echoey - so you can hear doors closing downstairs.

Good points: well, it's in Ragusa Ibla for starters. It's clean, central, and the staff are nice. It's a smallish place, so you don't get anonymous crowds.

Breakfast was nice. You have to ask the breakfast lady for a coffee - and as always in Sicily, I never know what the protocol is here: are you allowed to ask for another, and another after that? When we entered the breakfast room on the first morning all we could see was about 30 varieties of biscuity pastries and I thought: is that all there is? So we filled our plates .... only to find fruit, ham, cereal etc on the table round the corner. So be warned.

The staff are helpful.

We had a good stay and I would recommend this place.

By the way - you have to visit Ragusa Ibla. It's worth at least a full day of your time. If you make this place your base for a few days then you can travel to nearby Modica as well as other towns. Watch Inspector Montalbano beforehand - it's on BBC4 in the UK - it's filmed in Ragusa and the surrounding area.

The hotel is a gem, with gorgeous breakfasts and within minutes of Ibla's sights. My room was spacious, quiet, and with a lovely small balcony. Meals are also available at the neighbouring restaurant: a very good value for money combination!

Selected Hotel Il Barrocco for a one night stopover as part of a swing through southeastern Sicily. Proved to be a perfect choice. Our Garmin got us up the hill to Ragusa Ibla and to the hotel with no problems. Parking directly in front of the hotel was not available at the time, but there was plenty of space on the street jst a half block below - Via Montereo, I believe. Parked the car with the right side up on the curb, else others probably couldn't pass.
Made our reservation through Venere - and all was in order at check-in. Our room was reasonably large and well equipped. Was a bit warm on our arrival - so made quick use of the remotely operated AC unit.
After a quick shower, took the short walk up the street to the Piazza Duomo. Gorgeous spot. Ifact all of Ragusa Ibla is an easy walk from the hotel.
The hotel restaurant is closed on Wednesday's - the night we were there - so I found a small market nearby - a bread, some meat, cheese and a bottle of wine was our dinner in the room. Perfect.
Sleeping conditions were excellent and very quiet. And breakfast in the morning included such variety that it was difficult to make a selection -- but all wetried was great.
The hotel management is committed to customer satisfacton - and proudly display their Michelin and Trip Advisor awards on the lobby walls.
Loved the place - just wish we could have stayed longer.
