“Snooty, arrogant and rude”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

We were in Ravello for a week and decided to try da Salvatore. We made reservations for 9 adults on a Wednesday night. It was not crowded. We were seated and give 3 menus for the 9 of us, 2 did not have the daily specials sheet. We sat for 40 minutes waiting to order. When a waiter finally deigned to take our, he simply shrugged when we asked about the delay and then he walked away. So did we. We had a good meal at a nearby restaurant.

“Ups and downs”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

We were impressed by the efficient service and, of course, the wonderful view. Our choices met with a mixed result - the spaghetti and clams merit a detour but the duck was a disappointing choice lacking flavor as it was overcooked; the same for the dessert with a pleasant nougat based cake but a dry chocolate one.

“Extremely underwhelming - Poor service”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

We decided to go here on our last night after hearing excellent reviews from our neighbours. We expected great things but left bitterly disappointed.

It's one of the first restaurants that you come to opposite the bus stop. We had booked a terrace table and the views would have been amazing if it wasn't for the big door blocking our view. The room lacked any kind of atmosphere apart from a parrot, that wolf whistled at us when walking down the stairs, and continued to screech throughout the whole evening - hardly the soft Italian music we were anticipating!

The staff really are rude and inattentive - 3 of them were stood talking in a corner and could see what we were trying to catch their attention, however, didn't come up to us for 20 minutes before even handing us a wine menu.

We ordered a bottle of white wine but the waiter returned with an opened bottle of red and then when we said could we have white please, they later added 4 euros onto our bill, trying to charge us for a more expensive bottle.

We ordered a fish and cous cous starter. The fish felt overdone and the whole dish was bland, lacking any sort of seasoning. We shared this starter but felt that the portion was still small for just one.

Bex ordered a sea food dish which compiled of four prawns on top of a potatoey substance with a disgusting and unnecessary lemon sauce which didn't compliment the dish at all. Craig ordered beef steak and french fries. It was okay but nothing near the standard that the price warrants. Also, the steak wasn't well done as asked.

To sum we had high expectations of the night but this food was the worst of our whole stay and the staff certainly didn't help.

“View & food stunning!”
Reviewed 15 June 2014 via mobile

Unless you want pizza, Ravello is slightly lacking in good restaurants that aren't purely aimed at tourists. Which is why we were so pleased with our experience here!

Initially slightly difficult to find as it's tucked down some stairs in the opposite direction to the main town (if you get the bus to Ravello go slightly back down the road you've just driven up and it's on your RHS, if you're walking it's the other side of the tunnel to Villa Ruffalo) it's worth visiting for the view alone!

Food choices were plentiful, my friend and I both had local speciality pasta dishes which didn't disappoint, and were accompanied by a basket full of warm fresh bread.

Good food with a view like that out across the Amalfi coast really made our visit to Ravello a memorable day!

“Wonderful Find in Ravello!”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

Gorgeous view.... Excellent service....Beautiful delicious food! Was recommended to us by a local in Praiano where we stayed. Getting off the bus in Ravello, there it was right by the bus stop. The food was truly beautiful and creative with the tastes off the charts. The wine list was very good and reasonable. I wish I could tell you what we had but it was 6+ weeks ago. I will say this ..... It was one of our most memorable meals on the Amalfi Coast. Definitely worth a trip to Ravello!
