“Absolutely fantastic hotel!”
Reviewed 21 July 2012

I took my mother and aunt to Ravello for an overnight trip from Naples. We found the hotel online and were hoping the hotel was as beautiful as the pictures online. The pictures did not do the hotel justice! It was absolutely superb. The entire hotel is extremely clean and very well maintained. We stayed in a superior sea view room and could not have been happier. Our view was unbelievable and we were able to enjoy it from a very large balcony with comfortable chairs. Everything in our room was top of the line and very tastefully decorated. The AC worked extremely well and we were not hot ever.
Villa Fraulo is easily accessible by car. The hotel has seven floors with the parking and secondary entrance located on the bottom floor and the reception and main entrance located on the seventh floor. Ravello is obviously quite hilly and can be difficult on foot in parts. Villa Fraulo's secondary entrance provides access to the main piazza in Ravello without having to walk any stairs, etc.
Breakfast is included in all of the rates and offers a wide variety of food. There are tables inside with AC or outside on the gorgeous patio with umbrellas offering shade. The infinity pool is a bit small but the view from the pool which overlooks the Amalfi Coastline is out of this world.
The most amazing aspect of Villa Fraulo is the extremely professional, extremely friendly and beyond helpful staff. When you stay at Villa Fraulo the staff makes you feel like you are the only person staying with them. I cannot say enough about how pleased we were with Villa Fraulo's staff. Upon our arrival I parked our car in a public parking lot down the street while we checked-in. The doorman Guiseppe took my keys, collected our car from the parking lot, unloaded everything into our room and had the car parked at the hotel within minutes. We were treated the same upon our departure.
Villa Fraulo is a bit expensive but is definitely worth every penny. I plan to stay there many times in the future!

Our family of four (kids 16 and 18) stayed for six nights at Villa Fraulo and were extremely pleased. The setting overlooks the sea at 1,000 feet above sea level offering majestic views down onto the seaside towns of Minori and Maiori. They have a wonderful infinitiy pool overlooking the sea. The staff was extremely accommodating providing excellent service and friendly smiles constantly. The beds were extremely comfortable. Dinner overlooking the sea was excellent. We recommend the seafood risotto and local Falanghina white wine. Bartender Mauricio makes a fantastic Negroni. The prices for the rooms are less than the two hotels next door, which, by comparison provide pompous and stuffy service with no personality. Reviews of noise must be from people who have never traveled to Italy before. This is such a common occurrence at every hotel in Italy. Earplugs are essential while travelling in Italy. We would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Ravello!

We stayed for a week at Villa Fraulo. Its location is great: within walking distance of everything (I guess everything in Ravello is within walking distance of everything). Our rooms overlooked the ocean, so both ours and our daughter's rooms had great views. However, we were on the fifth floor which seemed to cut the street noise a lot. Our daughter's was on the second floor and it was much noisier. The rooms were very nice--looked very recently remodeled. Bed was fantastic. Agree with an earlier post that it was a tempurpedic or something similar. Everything was exceptionally clean. The room itself was simply but beautifully furnished and very comfortable. All the employees that we encountered were very nice and helpful: the people at the front desk, the people in the bar and restaurant, the housekeeping staff. The breakfast buffet was simple and good for a quick breakfast on the way out. It's the usual European breakfast buffet with yogurt, cereal, pastries, cheese, fruit. We ate every morning on the terrace overlooking the ocean--fabulous views. We ate a dinner in the restaurant one night, which was really kind of unfortunately mediocre. Would suggest eating at one of the other wonderful places in town. Also, there was a peculiar thing about the internet. It was free, which was good, but only worked on the fifth floor (marginally) and above. So our daughter couldn't get internet connections in her second floor room, and we could only get occasional connections in our fifth floor room. The people at the front desk said that it worked well in the lobby. So if you rely on internet service in your room, this may not be the best choice. All in all, we were very satisfied, and would stay here again. If you are looking for the most luxurious, try the Palazzo Sasso or the Caruso, both of which are located very close to this hotel.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on a higher floor to reduce noise and if you want to get internet. Also the rooms...

My wife and I stayed here in late June. The hotel is superbly located in Ravello, quite close to the centre of the town. We had a room with a balcony which had absolutely magnificent sea views. Our sleep was shattered by a dawn chorus at 5.30am the first morning, initiated by noisy scooter-ists who, between their hard-accelerating and hard-breaking, also found the time to acknowledge each other with a 'beep' or two! Between us and our wonderful sea view, was a very busy road, coming to life....early! Without shutters or blackout curtains, that was the end of our first night's sleep. The wonderful staff were very understanding and immediately moved us to a higher, quieter (and upgraded) room. We were not the first people to complain about the noise from the road and we certainly won't be the last. A really great hotel with wonderful staff, blessed with superb views, but what about the management who leave their staff to face regular complaints from guests about the lack of blackout curtains or shutters and the mad noise-levels from the road? Is it arrogance from the management or is it that they simply just don't care about ongoing complaints from their guests?

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at Villa Fraulo while in Ravello for a friend's wedding and had a wonderful time there. The rooms were spacious and clean, and we really loved the mattresses and pillows they used on the beds (I think they were tempurpedic). The hotel's location was amazing and the view of the Amalfi coast from our balcony was absolutely breathtaking. The only minor complaint that we had was the lack of an iron/trouser press in our room and the lack of a facility within the hotel to press clothing. While it is true that the housekeeping offers a pressing service with it's laundry service, this service is quite expensive and not very convenient as it takes a day. With all of the weddings that seem to occur in Ravello (we saw at least three other ones in addition to the one we were attending in our 2 1/2 days there) this is something that should be addressed. Other than that, the hotel was wonderful and romantic, and I look forward to staying there again someday - as long as I don't need to press a suit while I'm there! ;)

We stayed for 1 week at Villa Fraulo and enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly, the room clean, the hotel comfortable with a nice view on the coast. They upgraded us for free because they had room left, which was very commercial.

We had booked until Friday but decided to leave on Wednesday to go to Naples. We told the hotel on Monday morning that we would leave earlier. The staff looked embarrassed and said it should be ok. Then no one told us anything so we booked our hotel in Naples. On Tuesday afternoon, I went to the front office to confirm we would leave the day after. And the staff said the General Manager (Maurizio d'Agostino) wanted us to pay until Friday. Because, according to him, the cancellation policy is of 5 days even if you've already arrived and started your stay in the hotel.

I talked to him on the phone and he said this was the rule (which is written nowhere on the website - the website says you need to cancel 5 days prior to your arrival, not when you're already in the hotel). He said that if someone from his staff didn't inform us on time "I will fire her, it's no problem for me". He didn't try to find any creative solution to come to a consensus or to make any kind of effort. He was super rigid, and not commercial at all. Finally, since we didn't want to have someone fire because of us, we accepted to pay 1 additional night without us staying at the hotel (out of the 2 left).

We were really shocked by the behavior and the words of this General Manager about his staff. The staff never complained and never said anything bad about him. They are very courageous because he must be a horrible employer.

We stayed here for two nights during our stay in Ravello. The rooms were large and clean. The bed was one of the more comfortable beds we had in Italy. The bathrooms were large by Italian standards. The balcony overlooking the Amalfi Coast had truly marvelous views. The sun deck and pool were both lovely as well.
