“Beautiful Accommodations and Wonderful Staff!”
Reviewed 25 September 2010

We loved this hotel in Ravello! Spectacular views, incredible staff and a beautiful room! Our room had a terrace with lovely views of the coastline. The staff was very friendly and helpful with tips for our daily trips to Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano. The breakfast was delicious and the hotel provided parking. A fantastic stay and I'd surely recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to Ravello. Wonderful!

We stayed at Villa Fraulo for 3 nights during our honeymoon, and loved it! Ravello truly is a magical/charming town, and staying here was perfect - being on the main street and enjoying the same great views of the ocean that the 5 star hotels up the road had (but with a much lower price/great value). Breakfast was included in our rate, which was great to be able to be enjoyed at the large terrace. I am knocking off one star due to the street noise/thin windows (being on the 2nd floor we heard everything from the main street) and the very spotty wireless Internet (even on their computer for visitor use)...though we probably shouldn't have been checking so much anyway, being on our honeymoon. Otherwise, we loved it there and could've stayed much longer.

Tip: We first entered the hotel on their 7th floor lobby entrance, up the Richard Wagner stairs from the main square/behind art gallery, huffing and puffing with all our luggage, but there is actually an entrance on the 1st floor/floor 0 directly in front of where the bus from Amalfi drops you off! Don't miss the signage like we did, unless you want a lot of exercise.

Its fairly easy to say: Service is top from everyone employed at the hotel, the location is top and especially the big terrasse with the most fantastic view. Our room was one of the "cheaper" once (204), however fantastic with a balcony, but the road it a bit nosy (only during the day, not during night time). BUT BUT BUT going to the 6th floor at the pool area/sunbed area, its quiet and the best place to relax on the planet!
The area: we didnt book this in advance, we saw the hotel when visiting on a day trip (we started in Sorrento) to Ravello. We passed by the hotel and right away we decided to book it for the last 4 days of our vacation. The area is very nice, not that many tourists compared to many of the other towns and the town square in Ravello is very cozy. Trekking is extremely good as well.

All in all the best place we have been in Italy and probably the one of our favourite hotels ever.

We have stayed at this hotel twice. This first time to check it out before our wedding and the second time during our wedding. We we very impressed with the staff's professionalism and the manner with which they treated us on our special occasion. A couple of key aspects: - the first time we visited was during the Icelandic ash cloud and we, like many others were stranded in Italy, (alas we had to leave and go back to work), the hotel staff went above and beyond and arranged for us to get advanced tickets for a train to get back to Switzerland. The staff were professional on our wedding day, always asking how they could help and providing 5 star service. We liked the hotel rooms, the view and the location.

In terms of the hotels in Ravello, I would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to going back again.

we stayed at the villa fraulo for 2 nights this month and found it overall to be an excellent, well-run, incredibly clean and beautiful property. this hotel is brand new and is still smoothing out some of the wrinkles, but it is already fantastic and has more potential for the future.

we booked a standard room but got a free upgrade to superior -- so we were only paying 150 euros a night, which is a steal for how nice this hotel is. however, the front desk told us they are jacking up their rates for next year by as much as 100 euros per room category, so if there's any way you can get here before they close for the winter this year, try to do it!

i strongly felt that their website did not reflect how nice the property is so i've attached some photos here. in particular we were worried the pool/lounge area would not be very nice since there are no pics on the website, but it was gorgeous. the pool is not heated so we didn't go in, but we didn't mind.

a few things i hope they work out: we arrived in our own car so we pulled up to what turned out to be the back of the hotel, but we didn't realize that. so when we walked in to a very empty room with one guy (who didn't speak english) behind a desk, we were a little startled. it turns out they have a proper (and beautiful) lobby on the 6th floor which is reached from the pedestrian street on the other side, but we didn't realize this until hours later. also, our room on the 2nd floor faced the street and both nights our sleep was disrupted by cars/people/partying etc. if staying here again, i'd request a room facing the pedestrian street.

great things: very friendly staff, insanely clean public areas and rooms, luxury touches in the rooms like down blankets, motion-sensor lights and full-strength hairdryers in the bathrooms, tasty breakfast and very comfortable loungers out on the deck.

i'm a bit worried for them if they do raise their prices as much as they said, because the palazzo sasso is 2 doors down and if i'm going to spend 500 euros on a room, i'm going there. but at the current prices, this is the best deal in town.

Hotel Villa Fraulo was a pleasant and perfect surprise during our family vacation. It's a new hotel and as such one can't be altogether certain on the quality of rooms and service. However we were taken aback by the tremendous service and attention we received from Margot at the front desk to Maurizio at the bar/room service. The hotel is perfectly situated, near the main Ravello piazza while being a stone's throw away from the public bus that allows easy transport to Amalfi, Positano and its many beaches. If we are lucky enough to make our way back to the Amalfi Coast, we will surely stay once again at the Hotel Villa Fraulo.
