B & B I Limoni
Ranked #29 of 32 Ravello B&B and Inns
Reviewed 8 January 2011

This place rocks. We mistakenly went to Giardino dei Limoni B&B which is down the next alley, after reading about this place, but don't be confused! The difference is night and day. The Giardino was depressing and smelly, this place "B&B I Limoni" was delightful, the rooms great, the hosts very nice & generous (with free lemons & the most amazing homemade wine I've ever had), and awesome views. We had a great stay.
Of course, if you are not fit enough to walk up and down 250 steps, then this place is not for you. But we welcomed the exercise and being off the beaten path. If you don't like to walk then stay in town, but don't come here and then give it two stars on trip advisors because you don't like to walk up and down stairs, that's the nature of this place.

B&B i Limoni is an absolute gem tucked down a remotely quiet spot in Ravello. I must first be honest in saying that the steps down there (as other people have mentioned) are veeery steep and veery tiring (especially in the scorching heat). The B&B is only accesible via these steps so even if you have a hire car (which we didnt), you still have some walking to get there! My husband and I are quite a fit and healthy young couple, but we struggled with the steps, particularly when getting our suitcases up/down the steps. Since The place is outside of central Ravelo, I would definately suggest you get a hire car if staying here, otherwise the walk up to there is absolutely shattering! We did it every night for the 5 nights we were there, and the walking was starting to wear thin a bit!

I must say, the steps were this places only downfall (and they make the reasonable price more understandable). The hosts Rosalba and Luigi were amazing, so hospitable and welcoming. They really made sure that you had a good time, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Luigi gave us a bottle of homemade wine to have with dinner one night, and they both packed us off with a bag full of lovely fresh lemons and herbs when we were leaving Ravello (depsite the fact that we spent the last 6 nights of our holiday in another hotel - the B&B wasnt available for the full duration of our stay - they insisted that we come back on our last day to pick up the lemons from their garden). They gave us a tour of their gardens, and they are truely lovely, they are so self sufficiant, growing so many fruits and vegetables, and making their own fruit juices, jams, lemonade etc from the produce. Rosalba speaks little English, although Lugit does, and they both know enough to get by, I would bring a phrase book if you dont know any Italian. It truely is so relaxing, and you wouldnt believe how lovely and quiet it is there, it really does feel like you are on the corner of the earth, away from the herds of tourists that visit Ravello, cars etc. The views are as amazing as anywhere in Ravello, but you can enjoy it so much more due to the tranquility of the place, and the setting of the terrace in amongst the lemon groves and natural produce. This genuinely is a place to get away from the world and just relax.

The rooms were lovely too. The first night we stayed in the standard room, that is just the bedrom and bathroom. Both were decorated really nicely - really clean and modern and yet still with some Italian charm from the furniture. Our remaining 4 nights were spent in the suite (it was not available for the full 5 nights, so Rosalba agreed we could move into the suite on the second day). The suite was also really nice, it was like your own little appartment, with a private terrace. There is a good sized bedroom (again decorated really nicely), a living area with sofa, tv and dining table, then 2 single beds (the apprtment sleeps 3-4) tucked around the corner. Then there is the good sized bathroom and a little kitchen with the essentials - hob, pots, pans, plates etc, so you can cook your own meals and eat inside, or on the terrace with the lovely view. If possible, i would recommend that you stay in the suite, as the extra space allows you to relax a bit more, and you have the option of self catering as and when you wish.

Waking up to the view and spending the day on the terrace in the calm setting really made this an enjoyable stay. The B&B itself, and the surrounds were amazing, and I would definately recommend this place (as long as you are mindful of the stairs!) if to spend the time with Lugi and Rosalba and nothing else!!

A marvellous experience: not expensive, wonderful landscape on mountains and see, flowers, fruits, flavours and local products at breakfast. Nice and clean rooms, possibility to cook and eat outside.. Just one thing: no possibility to go there by car or by bus.. The lonely way to reach b&b i limoni is going... by foots!
along more or less 200 stairs!!! so, just for young people who walk well!!
Ravello is a pearl

This B and B promised on their web site directions from the road access " and we will be glad to take you and your luggage to our amazing farm. From this point the access to it will be possible only through a characteristic rural down stair." We should like to point out that this does not happen - you can pay 5 euros per case for a local man to carry a case up/down the 253 steep steps but he is only available in the early evening. The owner speaks very little English and indeed could not give us directions to find the B and B when we arrived in Ravello. Consequently we got lost in the lemon groves late at night and had to stay elsewhere for the first night. Although the accommodation was good when we eventually got there, we consider that it is too inconvenient to explore the surrounding countryside.
