My wife and I were driving along the Amalfi Coast and stayed at Torre dello Ziro. We were greated by a newly renovated guest house with white washed walls and a lovely view of the farming valley going out to the ocean. Madame Lella was a great hostess and for breakfast we sampled many of her home made cakes, and jams (including grape and tomato jams). We had a very relaxing stay.

Torre dello Ziro is well located and a few minutes drive from the Ravello town centre. There is also guest parking which is a must when driving around the Amalfi Coast.

My boyfriend and I travelled via car from Naples airport down the twisty roads to the Torre Dello Ziro. We stopped on route for a cold beer, photo opportunites (of which there were plenty!! )and lunched in beautiful Positano. We were happy with our accomodation, it was really clean and smelled of subtly scented candles. Madame Lella was lovely, kind and helpful and Theresa couldnt have done enough for us, serving breakfast out on the terrace when the weather accomodated it! Lovely views down the gorge(Fiord) to the sea. Ravello was stunning, the Villa Rufolo I feel was out done by the staggering Villa Cimbrone which hung on to the edge of a precipice - we strolled around it till the dark wrapped itself around us - so we felt duty bound to call in the Villa itself (which is now a hotel) for a pre-prandial! Just lovely and decadent and filled with beautiful things, the gardens are lovely and well worth an explore, statues, temples and views of at least a 1,000 feet to the terraces lined with lemon trees and grape vines. It wasnt a cheap break, food was quite expensive and we didnt really do it justice by trying the local fish dishes etc. as we ate a big breakfast and were just not up to a huge meal in the evening. The roads were lary, and there were quite a few maniacs overtaking on impossible bends and short straights, but the views were lovely. Bear in mind if you print directions off to the B&B they are as if you are coming from the South, not the North. Highly reccomend the Torre Dello Ziro - car hire I feel is key to really be able to explore. (Bear in mind there is also a tower called the Torre Dello Zirro aswell as a B&B!!!! ) We were not over smitten with Vietri Sul Mare or Minori. Highlights, Ravello, Positano and the views and a nice comforatble bed to fall in to after a nice glass of wine!

I traveled from Dublin to Ravello and I stayed at Torre dello Ziro for two nights.
It was an amazing experience:

-The view from the top of the Amalfi coast is just beautiful and Torre dello Ziro is conveniently located in an amazing spot between Amalfi and Ravello, in a quiet and and stunning spot;
- The people at Torre dello Ziro are very welcoming, the place is beautifully furnished with a real Italian sense of style, the bedrooms are clean and sunny and the food for breakfast is delicious: will never forget those homemade cakes!
- The amount of amazing things to see is really impressive and not comparable to any other place I visited: we went to Positano, Ravello, Amalfi and we even took the boat to Capri.

It was also just great to have all of this at a very convenient price as well!

We had mixed reviews on this B&B.

The pros:
Breakfast: This was awesome. Delicious homemade food and perfect cappuccinos. The best we had in two weeks of travel. Served outside, almost restaurant style, with an amazing view of the mountains.

Value: Super cheap.

Rooms: Clean, spacious, and well appointed.

Theresa: The B&B is run by two women. Lella, the mostly absentee owner and Theresa, her diligent, competent, lovely assistant. Theresa was wonderful and made sure all our needs were attended to.

The cons:
Location: Warning to the faint of heart. Torre dello Ziro is located on a windy, treacherous mountain road about 2 miles outside of Ravello. Walking to Ravello is not an option. We were without a car and relied on the bus. There is not a bus stop nearby, however, so caching the bus necessitated standing on the side of the road, risking life and limb as cars, trucks and buses blasted by, frantically waving our arms praying a bus would stop. They always did and we were able to travel back and forth into town, but it did add some extra thrills we were not looking for.

Lella: Lella, the owner was pretty much a no-show during our stay. She did make two appearances however. The first was during a picnic-style dinner we had at the house. We picked up prosciutto, cheese, wine, etc... in town and brought it back to the house for dinner. No one was around so we borrowed utensils and plates from the kitchen (not a problem in any other B&B we've ever stayed at). While giving us the stink eye, she told us know that it was fine that we had borrowed these, and clearly let us know by locking the kitchen for the rest of the stay that it actually was not fine at all.

Her second appearance was as we were walking out the door. Theresa asked us to call Lella to discuss our departure and Lella told us (for the first time) that we needed to pay cash for out stay. We were not expecting this and did not have the money on us. Lella insisted on driving us in the opposite direction from where we were going to use an ATM. This delayed us over an hour and was a huge inconvenience that could have been easily avoided had she been even a little proactive in welcoming us to the B&B and letting us know about the cash payment on arrival.

Overall a great value, amazing breakfast, wonderful views, and great clean rooms. But bring a car or be prepared for some travel adventure and don't expect much from the host.
