Don't be phased by the initial impression , give it time and this hotel will reveal its real qualities which are both timeless and satisfying. One of the best views from a dining room in Europe if the weather is good

Room Tip: Spend the money on a sea view

Booked by American Express Platinum the Caruso simply is not worth the price they are charging. View is nice, but the pool feels like you are on someone's roof in NYC, room needed paint, staff is average

Dear Sirs,

Thank you for taking your time to write this comment on Tripadvisor.

I am deeply sorry to hear that your stay at the Caruso did not meet your expectations and that our price/performance ratio did not satisfy you.

You are completely right, the porch outside the garden of your suite needed a partial re-paint which has been effected in the meantime. We really apologize for this carelessness.

Please permit me to point out that the Caruso is highly appreciated by our guests not only because of its excellent service offered by its professional and cordial staff but also because it has one of the most spectacular infinity pools in the world which is famous for its stunning views on the amazing Amalfi Coast.

As we constantly work to improve our services I would be more than grateful to receive more information about your dissatisfaction. Please feel free to send me a personal message to my e-mail address franco.girasoli@belmond.com.

I really hope to welcome you again as our guests and you will allow us the opportunity to restore your faith in us.

This hotel was such a disappointment after my wonderful stay at its sister hotel,Grand Hotel Timeo directly beforehand. The welcome was diffident at best - I was obviously an exception in a venue heavily directs towards couples, weddings etc. I was asked three times in two hours if I was 'solo'; once this was established I was relegated to the furthest table in the terrace restaurant where it took 25 minutes to 'chase' a menu and 35 to further request a wine list. The room with a balcony I had confirmed was a terrace where the sea could be seen only if one stood outside on the terrace. Highlights of the three night stay were my tour of the garden with Head Gardener Gaetano whose passion, knowledge and achievement in this challenging location are a true wonder and the enjoyable BBQ dinner by the best pool in the world! Sadly,I'll look elsewhere next visit.

Dear Madam,

First of all I would like to thank your for taking your precious time to share your comment on Tripadvisor.

I am very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the tour in our beautiful gardens as well as the special BBQ dinner and that you appreciated our unique infinity pool and our welcome upon arrival.

At the same time I feel truly sorry that you received the impression to have been disadvantaged by the fact of travelling alone. Please be assured that all clients, whether solo traveller, couple or family, have the same importance for us. Our restaurant terrace was completely full when you arrived for dinner that evening. Of course this is no excuse for having kept you waiting and I really apologize for not having given you the service which is generally so highly appreciated by our guests.

I am more than sorry that you were not satisfied with your room and that we were wrong when thinking to do something nice by assigning you a room with a garden instead of a balcony. However, as soon as you informed us about your dissatisfaction we tried everything to change your room but since we were fully booked the first night we are able to offer you an eventual room change only for the next day. As I understood you preferred, due to your plans for the next days, to remain in your room without changing.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience we caused and I really hope you will give us a second chance to convince you of our quality.

Best wishes,

Ravello is breathtakingly beautiful and absolutely stunning. The hotel itself is beautifully landscaped and the views are magical. The price per night is eye watering and as Ravello is higher up the weather can be cooler with more wind in comparison with Positano.
The infinity pool is very nice and the views from some of the hotel balconies are memorable. Easy access to the rest of Ravello and good transport links within Amalfi.
A hotel for a nice romantic weekend in a beautiful part of the world. For anything longer look to the rest of Amalfi.

Stayed here with our 2 daughters, son in laws and 14 month oid granddaughter. All of our rooms were beautifully furnished with large bathrooms, large terraces and beautiful ocean views. Amazing food and service in both restaurants and a wonderful pianist in the bar every evening(reminded us of Bemelmans Bar at the Caryle). The most gorgeous pool in the world!

Room Tip: Deluxe Jr. suites with ocean view are wonderful

It's hard to imagine a more perfect (I know, bad grammar) location for a premium hotel experience. The infinity pool area is stunning, as are all the public spaces, so take the plunge and dig deep into your wallets because this is a signature resort but it does not fall into the budget-priced tier. The staff are very well-trained, friendly, and helpful. The views in every direction are breathtaking, and the small village of Ravello has a lively town square with shops and cafes. It's a great base for exploring the Amalfi Coast, with shuttles and boat access. Our room came with a rooftop terrace that was big enough for 20 people and had jaw-dropping views of both mountains and water. Breakfast is a feast, and the on-site Belvedere restaurant serves up classic and classy Italian fare. The hotel grounds are superbly maintained and bursting with color. We lost count of the number of times we said "Wow" during our stay. We're buying lottery tickets and planning a return visit...

This was the first of three Belmond hotels we stayed at on our 'Grand Tour' of Italy, the others were the Belmond Hotel Villa San Michele in Florence and the Belmond Hotel Cipriani in Venice.

Transfer from Naples airport was included at the Hotel Caruso when booked on the 'Grand Tour'. The driver met us in arrivals, helped us to the car and was nicely chatty during the 1 hour 15 minute drive to the hotel.

The staff were very friendly on arrival and greeted us with freshly made lemonade, lemons being a specialty of the region.
Our room was ready for us and was very spacious with a balcony and two bathrooms!

Food at the pool bar overlooking the infinity pool was excellent, as was the service. The main restaurant had an open terrace where must people dined, pashminas provided for the ladies if required on chillier evenings. Food was very good but don't go in hungry!
A couple using a mobile phone on speaker were asked to desist by the staff for which we were very grateful.

The hotel is about a 30 minute drive from the coast and had a complimentary shuttle bus that ran to Amalfi every hour during the daytime.

A complimentary boat trip organised by the hotel was also included that took us from Amalfi to Postiano and (with free beer!) back.

We'd booked on the 'Amalfi by Night' tour with the very knowledgable guide Rupert Scarfe(see Facebook). This was a back-street walk in Amalfi in the evening that had a serious number of steps to climb up and down the back alleys, this was fairly arduous but included many stops, a must do!

We'd independently arranged a days tour with Guemar Travel(see TripAdvisor) who provided a car and driver/tour guide. We were picked up at 8:00am and driven along the Amalfi coast, stopping at Amalfi, Postiano, Sorento and Pompeii before returning at 4:00pm

On our last day the hotel provided a transfer back to Naples railstation.
