“A pool with a view and a feeling of pure bliss”
Reviewed 10 February 2010

We put our wedding guests into the Hotel Graal and everyone without exception loved it. We had gone over 6 months previous to sus out hotels for our guests and the Graal offered the best in value with outstanding views. After viewing the rooms, we requested the newer part of the hotel as it was more modern and the rooms were better then the older part and at no extra cost. Every room had a little balcony or terrace with the views of the coast. Mena was behind reception and organised all the transfers from the airport direct to the hotel and was amazing and friendly and everyone loved her. All the staff were on hand to help and very friendly to all the guests even though our wedding was in a rival hotel. The pool had spectacular views of the coast and even though the road above looked down on you, no-one took any notice. Everyone loved the breakfast and said they would return. It might lack the luxury of other hotels in Ravello, but for the same view, it lacks the expensive price tag too.

There are lots of sumptuous vistas in Ravello, and this hotel is no exception. The view from the room was spectacular. We stayed in an upgraded room and the rooms could use an update in furniture/decor. The woman behind the front desk was extremely helpful and went out of her way to help us with the bags and car. The lounge area off of the main reception area with lovely, especially with the glass doors opening onto small balconies (beautiful views!). Also the breakfast was very nice - again with great views! It was a short, pleasant walk to the Villa Rufolo & gardens and the main square. And then approximately a 10-15 minute walk to Villa Cimbrone's gardens (both gardens offer more spectacular views - highly recommended). Overall, the place had a very nice vibe and we would come back here again.

Ravello is a lovely place to stay and the hotel Graal lived up to our expectations from previous reviews. Its very reasonably priced given the area and number of 5 star hotels in the area. The staff were friendly and helpful and the views from the hotel pool and the bedroom all along the amalfi coast , were spectacular . Definitely recommend the restaurant at the hotel - the food was delicious and reasonably priced for the area. We loved wandering round Ravello and especially the Cimbrone Gardens. Its easy to reach Ravello by catching the little bus from Ravello to Amalfi . Also try Resturant Vittoria in Ravello, just off the main square

My wife and I and another couple stayed at the Hotel Graal for four nights in late October, 2009. This hotel was a great value and has the same views as the much more expensive hotels above. Our room was modest, but had a nice patio with a spectacular view. I think all the rooms have the same great views towards Minori. The service was particularly good and Mena at the front desk was very helpful. Besides the views, the hotel is in a great location. It's near the town square and only meters away from the Ravello bus stop. The public bus provides convenient transportation to Amalfi and all other points along the crazy Amalfi Coast. I would consider staying here again particularly because it's a great value in a great town.

We stayed at Hotel Graal for six nights in Sept. 2009. The hotel is perched on a terraced mountain. This Hotel is family owned and run and the family is always there to aid and assist you where needed. We were greeted on check in by Mena.. the hotel Mgr. She did everything we asked of her and more. The hotel is fortunate to have such a person on their staff. The rooms were clean and functional. Our room had a balcony overlooking the Sea with the most spectacular view I've seen. Breakfast was included in our package and the restaurant (overlooking the Sea) had a wide selection of items that made for a great start to the day. The main restaurant was marvellous. Food was excellent and again, the Chef and staff were helpful and attentive to your wishes. The pool area was clean and I must say, the water was cool. Even for us Canadians! The front desk arranged Taxi pick ups to and from train stations and airports. Hotel Graal has a full range of ammenities and we can hardly wait to return again sometime soon. This whole area around Ravello is so picturesques.. Around every corner is a breath taking view and several towns/villages are within 20 kilometres from Ravello. The Bus ride is great although the roads are narrow with many hairpin turns. This area Amalfi Coast is semething you should see if planning a trip to Italy. Hotel Graal is a good home base to work from and in my opinion, the best value there.

I personally looked at two rooms (standard vs upgraded). Trust me, the upgraded room is worth it. It's 10x better. The standard room is more like a old fashioned motel.

The location, upgraded room, pool and overall experience without breaking the bank was my objective - objective met!

Stayed two nights in early June with wife and adult daughter in a junior suite - large room with a comfortable queen bed and a twin day bed thing that was comfortable for sitting and my daughter said was excellent for sleeping. I would describe ithe hotel as "funky" rather than "tired." The photo from our 3 week italian trip that draws the most comments is one taken looking down the Grall's sinterior piral staircase - quite beautiful, intriguing design. Our daughter took a dozen photos of the chair in out room (I wouldn't have but she's an art history major). The shower had a waterfall feature that I loved and a multi-facet jet spray feature that none of us liked at all - both optional. The breakfast was excellent with a large choice of various meats, breads, cereals, yogurt, pastries etc with good service.
It was chilly with some rain and, perhaps because of that, the pool wasn't opened. The noise from the nearby construction was bothersome - noticed it when I dropped by for ten minutes one afternoon to grab my rain coat. One would not be able to take an afternoon nap in your room without earplugs. We wandered Ravello from before the construction started util after it ended when we were there and weren't bothered by it.
I thought the E351 per night with parking was a bit steep and I only booked it because Ravello was a last minute addition to itinerary. However, the view from the room's balcony was worth the price.
As noted in earlier reviews, driving on the coast or on the peninsula is insane and driving to Ravello over the mountains rather than up or (worse yet) down the coast is the way to go. Also, get the extra insurance coverage on your car rental as the liklihood of crunching a fender is high, I did ($50 extra saved $650 in damage repair.)
Don't miss the almost thousand-year-old mosaic of Johah and the whale on the pulpit in the church on the square. Weddings and honeymoons seem to be the backbone of Ravello's economy.
