“Exceptional Position, Exemplary Staff”
Reviewed 22 June 2012

We stayed at Villa San Michele during our Honeymoon, half board for 3 nights. It is an unbelievably romantic hotel with scented flowers, fairy lights, little hidden alcoves everywhere... The food is super fresh, rustic, Italian and comes in huge portions. Although it is very good it is quite repetative and I would suggest taking one night out to go elsewhere if staying for more than 2 nights.
The staff were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. One gentleman in particular seemed to raise the bar of the whole place. He greeted us on arrival, gave us other room options that we might prefer, did extensive research on places to go, treks to take etc, his English was perfect and he was always upbeat and enthusiastic.
The only areas that we felt could have been improved were: Breakfast, which although serves delicious freshly squeezed orange juice, didn't contain any protein so you were hungry within about 1hr, and the rooms, they are clean and tidy but they are also very basic and the bed was not comfortable.
However, the view is exceptional, there is a plunge point off the cliffs into the sea, the sea is clean and clear and overall we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Oh, and I almost forgot, we were sure that the owner is Jean Reno (not very well) disguised!! He is the spitting image!

We just returned from spending 11 nights at Villa San Michele. We were so sad to leave. It's true that this little jewel is not actually in Ravello, but that's what makes it so special. The area is called Casteglione. From here you can walk or take the bus everywhere in a matter of minutes! Like all the reviews have said, you can sleep just hearing the sea. Who could ask for more? Emiliano & Nicola could not be more gracious hosts and Rosa's dinners...delicious! Excellent and reasonably priced wine selection too. We were worried about packing on the pounds, but with all the stairs and hiking it was no problem. If you are visiting the Amalfi Coast, you have to stay here. You won't be disappointed. They could charge a lot more per night. We will be back. We had the best vacation ever!

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony. You will use it. If you're sensitive to noise (walking, moving chairs...

It is important to know that Hotel Villa San Michele is not in Ravello but 5 Km from this beautifull town. It's an ideal place to start the Amalfi Coast tour. The photo doesn't do justice to the place, which is gorgeous, with wonderful gardens, a delight to the eyes and nose, and a magnificent view from the room to the sea. We only stayed one night and we wish we'd stayed more.

My wife and I have just had a great 4 day stay here. It's a beautiful place, and the food (half-board) was excellent. One of the things that made it so great was that Nicola and his wife happily cooked delicious gluten-free dishes for my wife, which meant that for the first time in years, our stay in Italy was not marred by anxiety at meal times. Service was great. Highly recommended.

This hotel is a gem. It was exactly what we were hoping for. It hangs on the cliffside - most, if not all, rooms offering uninterupted views of the water, some with terraces. There's nothing like falling asleep to the sound of the waves lapping at the cliffs and ocean breezes coming in your window. Because the hotel is located below the street, you hear no street noise - only the water. The location is also nice because it is just off the over-trodden paths of tourist hoardes. Yet all sights are easily accessible.

Emiliano, who has been with the hotel for years, speaks excellent English, but is also very patient with those of us who are attempting to learn Italian. He was very helpful lining up transportation for us from the airport and back, as well as explaing sights and how to navigate the bus system. The breakfasts and dinners were delicious in a beautiful room overlooking the garden and the water (my only recommendation would be to dim the lights for dinner - a little more romantic!). The staff in the kitchen, dining room and throughout the hotel are extremely accomodating and many speak English.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. We only stayed for three nights - next time we'll stay much longer!

Room Tip: All rooms are great. Some have a terrace. Our room - #118 - had a French door looking out over the...

We LOVED Villa San Michele. It's the cutest hotel. We loved spending time on our balcony. The view is incredible. The staff was also so helpful. They made sure we have all the information we need while exploring around the coast. Mmmmm the food was also AMAZING! Breakfast and dinner were included in our reservation so we just ate at the hotel. Nicola's wife cooks dinner every night and it was always sooo good. If she had a cookbook, I will definitely buy it.

I can't wait to go back!

A superbly situated family run hotel offering stunning views and wonderful home cooked food. We had 10 days here in April 2012 and we were looked after extremely well. The hotel offered a combination of friendliness, excellent hospitality, quality local produce nicely prepared, and tranquil accomodation directly on the sea. The hotel offers a very relaxed atmosphere. It is unique and charming. For us this is and will be the only place to stay on the Amalfi coast. It is an easy walk to Atrani and Amalfi and the bus service very near the hotel means a car is not essential. We have many memories of wonderful evenings in the restaurant where all tables have excellent views of the sea below.

Room Tip: From what we could see all rooms overlooked the sea and were south facing. Try and secure one with...
