The Villa San Michele (VSM) is technically in Ravello but is actually closer to the fabulous port town of Amalfi. In fact we walked to Amalfi several times during our five day wonderful stay. You arrive at the VSM to be greeted by the wonderful (and very debonaire) proprietor Nicola (the owner) as well as his assistant Antonio. Your car and bag are taken care of and you walk down many stone steps trying not to trip as you are magnetized to the stunning views rather than your safety. You arrive to your well equipped room and if you are lucky enough to have one with a full terrace overlooking the sea, you are treated to some of the best views that one can imagine. The VSM is a wonderful place. Excellent service, privacy, beautiful surroundings, access to swimming in the Tyrrhenian Sea and much more. Your half board stay consists of a basic Italian Breakfast with delicious fresh baked rolls, jams, coffee, cappuccino, fresh orange juice and more. What is really amazing is that the fine price for this Hotel also includes a fabulous three course dinner each evening that is tastefully prepared by Nicola's wife who is a chef! You are treated to masterful service by Antonio who also helps you select excellent local wines. This is a wonderful and beautiful place. It is small and boutique-like so don't expect big common rooms which is something I try...The Villa San Michele (VSM) is technically in Ravello but is actually closer to the fabulous port town of Amalfi. Instead, pick up some wonderful cheese, fresh bread and local wine at the small store near the entrance to the hotel. Set them up on your terrace for sunset and just relax and enjoy the beauty that is Italy and the Villa San Michele! Grazie Nicola e famiglia!More
