This is an AMAZING property! It feels like you are living in a private villa on the sea. Breakfast met our needs, the location was great...bus stop across the street, easy walk to Atrani and Amalfi. Definitely walk the Path of the Gods if in good shape (you will have to be in good shape to stay at the Villa San Michele anyway). Everyone was helpful with directions, reservations, information. We highly recommend this small family owned and run hotel.

Room Tip: Large balcony, corner room, second floor

This review is a year after our stay but we still remember this wonderful villa with affection. The innkeeper was very accommodating. The staff were always friendly and helpful. We loved our corner room with patio and thundering seas below us. It was cold outside but not so inside. I hope to return one day soon. Thank you to the owners for sharing their home with us. It was a welcome respite.

Words are hard to explain this little gem of the Amalfi Coast.... From the first moment of Emiliano greeting us and drawing open the curtains to the view from our terrace, to leaving, this is possibly the most welcoming and accommodating hotel u could ever visit.

I had read all the positive reviews before booking over a year in advance,I would strongly recommend this hotel as an excellent base if u want to explore the Amalfi Coast. Having been to Sorrento previously and recommended a stay at Ravello you cannot go wrong... Bus stop outside, Amalfi a pleasant 15 min walk away...15 mins to Ravello town delights including Villa Cimbrone and villa Rufolo...truly amazing views that u will never forget.

The food served up each night cannot be faulted... It's real Italian, quality, fresh and not a night went by when our plates were not cleared....! Helped with a grappa and expresso finish.

Amazing value for money on a half board basis...and the breakfast is ample if u embrace a simple enough to get u going relaxed continental approach. welcoming staff who are genuinely interested in their guests throughout their stay... I even asked why only a 3* hotel (budget on the internet) and the desire to keep villa San Michele a bespoke family experience was the perfect answer....

Waking up every morning...opening the doors and hearing the waves crashing against the rocks made our 5th wedding anniversary a very special memory, along with the amazing food and hospitality...

Whilst villa Cimbrone has "the terrace of infinity."... Villa san michele has it's own special terrace which is just as enjoyable....

A 5* villa..if u want to experience a real bit of Italy and not a pampered overpriced chain experience..

Bellisimo

Room Tip: Preferably with a terrace to completely relax in the early evening although sun will have gone round...

This was our third trip to Villa San Michele. Just like every time it was great. The views are fantastic. Nicola, Emiliano, Antonio and the whole family made our visit just special. Ask for the dinner package and you will not be disappointed (during peak seasons). Our daughter always found something she like to eat. Their family made our whole family welcome, very family friendly. The location is within walking distance of busses and ferries. We can't wait to come back again.

Room Tip: Every room has a view, but to really enjoy ask for a balcony.

My husband and I chose Hotel Villa San Michele for our anniversary and we are happy that we did. It was perfect for us because it had tons of character, excellent food, and a great location. We never have liked the chain hotels and prefer places like HVSM where the atmosphere just cannot be duplicated anywhere else. HVSM is quintessentially Italy on the Amalfi coast owned and run by a charming, dedicated and caring family with a great desire to offer people a unique experience of welcome and comfort amid the thrill of travel to one of the most beautiful places in the world. I also felt that we were getting good value for our money. We were there for a week in April with colder than usual weather, so we couldn't enjoy the "movie-set" outdoor spaces as much as I would have liked. Plus, there was so much to do around the area pulling us away from the hotel. If I go back I would want to spend a day lazing around their beautiful cliff-grabbing grounds and enjoy a swim in the sea. Now, as I pick up my busy life again, I have a beautiful memory to give me peace.

We stayed for eight unforgettable nights at the "one and only" Villa San Michele, where genuine hospitality is in the blood and heart of all those who so gently cared for us. The location simply can not be improved upon. We feel truly fortunate to have been there to treasure the life long memories we made there. Thank you Nicola, Emiliano, Don Mario, Rosa, Antonio and Ana (the lady who cared for our room) for treating us like familia! We can only hope to return again to be with you again...for fifteen nights, eight was not enough!

We stayed for three nights in a room with a Juliet balcony and a private terrace both of which overlooked the sea. The location is, without doubt, breathtaking. The hotel clings to the side of the cliff and from everywhere the views are stunning.

The plus points are the staff, who are very sweet and helpful. The location - perfectly situated for visits to Ravello and Amalfi. (You can reach Amalfi easily on foot if you don't want to take the bus.) Breakfast was typically Italian, ie cornetti and rolls but having freshly squeezed orange juice was lovely. Staying in April meant that we didn't need the air con unit and could fall asleep to the sound of the sea through the open French doors.

The 'I'm going to be picky for a minute' points are that the food, although there are some rave reviews, was, in our opinion, simply adequate. We enjoyed the pasta/risotto dishes but the mains were teeny and nothing to write home about and the desserts were also just OK. I wish the wardrobe in our room (118) changed places with the chairs so that it was against the bathroom wall and then you could sit and look out over the sea and I would have had an uninterrupted view through the French doors from the bed - I said I was being picky!

There aren't any real negatives. Having to park the car half a mile away was a drag but we didn't need to use it while we were there so it wasn't really an issue. There didn't seem to be any kind of drinks list with prices so our final bar bill was a surprise.

Just in case you have mobility issues there are over 150 outside steps from the road to the rooms on the second floor where ours was and about 100 back up to the restaurant for breakfast and dinner.
