“Dont stay in this hotel”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2013

We stayed here for our wedding night last week. Nothing could ruin the day for us, but this hotel came pretty close.

It isn't the most expensive hotel in Ravello, but it is of a price that would suggest a certain level of quality. However, it doesn't deliver on this in any way.

My wife took the room beforehand to prepare before the wedding ceremony - the fridge contained an old punnet of strawberries covered in fungus and a half eaten packet of biscuits; the room was small and threadbare; the bathroom was extremely dated. The room probably hadn't been decorated for 15 years. Breakfast was rubbish. No parking.

Shocking hotel and I cant recommend it on any level.

Dear Mr & Mrs Dubaidickie,
We are sorry to read that you were not happy during your 1-night stay at
our hotel. We are also very surprised as you never mention anything to us
although you had many opportunities and saw our availability in welcoming
you and your party for the pre-wedding ‘welcome aperitif’.

We do understand that the constant rain we had during the days of your
stay in Ravello would have ‘ruined’ even the most romantic and best
organized event. We are sure it would have upset the happiest person in
the world but you did see how ready we were to try to minimize the
inconveniences caused by the bad weather by supplying umbrellas, hair
dryers, extra heaters and rearranging the buffet on our Main Terrace,
although its price was based on the use of the bar terrace. We were all
around, always asking if things were ok, if anything was needed and if
indeed there was a problem we would have done everything in our power to
fix it. Being a family hotel it is our priority to make sure that our
guests feel comfortable, like at home. You appreciate that it is not by
writing an unfair and angry comment on Tripadvisor that things can be made
right.
Our rooms are bigger than many standard rooms in 5 star hotels and we are
sure that the bride, her maids, the photographer and the wedding
coordinator noticed that, when they were all gathered in one of them
preparing the bride. It is our custom to offer a bottle of Prosecco and a
selection of cheese and salami to honeymooners, which, in this case, were
offered to all the guests in the room. Our rooms have adequately large
private bathrooms and have been renovated three years ago only. All rooms
have private balconies and direct view over the spectacular Amalfi Coast
which, that alone, justifies the price, as many of our guests tell us.
Apart from the fact that our hotel is centrally located, next to the Villa
Rufolo, (from some rooms it is possible to see the suspended stage built
for the Ravello Festival).
We are constantly complimented by our guests for our full buffet
breakfast. As for the parking, it is clearly stated on our web site that
we offer car parking with valet service on our door.
We do understand that when you come from Dubai, incessant rain is the last
thing you expect on your wedding… as one of our proverbs goes : “wet
bride, lucky bride”.

My mother and I stayed at the Hotel Garden in late August and found every aspect delightful. Friendly staff (Anna was most helpful in making arrangements for transportation and day trips), delicious food, and fabulous views from the room as well as the restaurant made for a very pleasant stay. While not fancy, Hotel Garden's rooms are spacious enough and very clean. Ours had a small terrace with seating to enjoy the fabulous view. As with other reviewers, I suggest a room away from the restaurant. Though not terribly noisy, you can hear chairs scraping on the terrace floor above you--nothing a cheap pair of earplugs wouldn't negate if you decide to hit the sack early or sleep in late. In all, Hotel Garden is a great value. I would definitely stay there again and have recommended to friends.

Along with two of our friends, my husband and I decided to take a cooking class while visiting the Amalfi coast. Good fortune was with us. We decided to go to Hotel Risorante Garden in Ravello. We were greated warmly by Patrizia (Chef Marco's wife) and the evening was off to a great start. Chef Marco introduced his mother - Mama and his sister-in-law, Paola. With the three of them, we had two of the most wonderful hours of our vacation. The class was well organized and we truly had a hands-on experience. Following the class, Chef Marco treated us to an incredible meal in his beautiful restaurant. We could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you Chef Marco and family!!!

After doing just a day trip to Ravello last year, we decided to spend a couple nights in Ravello so we could take in a concert at Villa Rufulo. We chose the Hotel Garden to stay at, and were very pleased. Just on the other side of the tunnel leading to the main square, it's location is very convenient. The hotel is somewhat small with only ten rooms, but the hotel is perched on the edge of the Ravello promontory, and all ten rooms have incredible views of the sea from their individual balconies. Rooms were big with nice bathrooms and comfortable beds. The hotel also had one of the quickest WiFi systems I've seen in any hotel worldwide, available from within your room. The breakfast area also has great views with terrace seating available, and a nice assortment of food. My only negative comment would be that the walls are somewhat thin so you may hear your neighbors if they are noisy. Anna who manages the hotel said they are considering adding either a garden area or pool below the rooms in the off-season. Incidentally, this is where Jacqueline Kennedy stayed when she visited Ravello with her children. We enjoyed our stay and would love to come back.

This hotel also has a restaurant which you can enjoy even if not a guest here. It also overlooks the sea so you get a spectacular view with dinner. The dinner and service was great!

Room Tip: The hotel is one long row of ten rooms, all with the same great view.

Loved this place - was really well priced compared with others in the same area. Absolutely stunning terrace with amazing views. Lovely continental breakfast served daily with fresh pastries and croissants, fruit, cereal etc - not extensive, but fresh and enough to set you up for the day. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the majority spoke very good english which was helpful as our italian was not great! The rooms are, as some describe, 'basic' - but really I would say that this doesn't do them justice - they are exceptionally clean, reasonably sized, with nice bathrooms and great showers. Rooms were 'refreshed' daily, with the beds made, floor swept and fresh towels put out each day. All the rooms are 'front-facing' - so have absolutely stunning views of the coastline stretching up towards Amalfi. I can comment on the rooms with some confidence as we had the whole hotel booked out (as we were all staying in Ravello for a friend's wedding) and so I saw five of the 10 or so rooms whilst I was there.

Only downsides were a slightly strange 'musty' smell in the corridors, and the lack of pool, which considering the seven million (I'm not joking) steps down to the nearest beach, was a bit of a pain. We paid 12eur to use the pool in Hotel Graal next door on one of the days, and the local 'public' outdoor pool is just down the road and nice enough at 10eur a day.

I would definitely stay again if I went back to Ravello.

Room Tip: They all seemed lovely and all have amazing views

We chose the Gardens for the view and location and were not disappointed. It is just off the square and down a couple of flights of steps that are nothing compared to the many hundreds of steps anyone visiting the Amalafi Coast wil face! Ravello is a charming town and being so close to the square was a bonus. Having breakfast on the terrace each morning was a really joy looking down on the coastline below us. This is a good value and friendly 3star BnB and for that reason I've voted it very good. What it lacks in amenities, charm and character it more than compensates for with the views, the location and the very friendly staff. The one downside for me was the regular scraping of chairs from the restaurant above, but then we weren't in the room enough to let that spoil anything. A stronger wifi would also be welcomed.
