“An Enriching Experience!”

Judith & David

My husband and I have just returned from a week long stay at the Hotel Parsifal and already we feel homesick.

Never in our previous travels have we encountered such a fantatastic, homely hotel experience. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt more like we were visiting friends than holidaying alone.

The food alone is enough to earn this hotel the fantastic reputation it has deservedly achieved and in no way are words enough to describe the culinary delights served up by Antonio and his family.

The accomodation had aged charm and oozed character whilst also providing the spaciousness and comfort sought when away from home.

However, the icing on the cake was the enthusiatic and friendly approach from all who work at the Parsifal. All of the staff were eager to ensure we made the most of our time in Ravello and catered for our every need, whilst leaving us to our own devices when we desired.

Thanks to you all for making our holiday one of the best yet.

Where do I begin? The communication I had with Antonio long before I ever arrived at Hotel Parsifal was excellent. He always replied to my emails promptly. He then made sure our stay was the best hotel experience we have ever had when we did arrive. This family run jewel of a hotel is the only place I will ever stay on the whole of the Amalfi Coast. It came highly recommended from what used to be a total stranger and now a friend. I will always be grateful to her for it. Our room was so lovely and comfortable, the food was beyond excellent, but more than anything, we were treated like visiting family rather than simply hotel guests. Breakfast was always a nice selection sure to please any palate and dinner was so wonderful, there is really no need to look elsewhere for fine dining. Everything was fresh and fantastic, and I miss it every night when I sit down to dinner in Texas. Nothing compares. The service was the best I've had anywhere. As if that weren't enough, you have an amazing view of the coastline and the beautiful turquoise blue ocean, or the stars at night reflecting off of the water. It is a short walk into the square of Ravello where you will meet many friendly locals and enjoy a cappuccino or two, but then, the Hotel Parsifal also makes a great one that you must try. I cannot say one negative thing about Antonio, his lovely family, or the Hotel Parsifal. It has such an Italian old worldly and very charming feel on the outside (NOT a Holiday Inn!!) , and very charming, tastefully furnished, sparkling clean and inviting on the inside. Transportation in the local area is plentiful-a 24 hour bus ticket from the tobacco shop (2 or 3 euros) allows you to traverse the area down to Amalfi, and other nearby areas; and the ferry to Positano is a nice trip around the coast. That said, Positano and Amalfi were very heavy with tourists while Ravello is quiet and relaxing. You can have Positano at your fingertips for a day trip, and relax in the quiet evening in Ravello away from the tourist traps. I only hope that future tourists will respect these things about Ravello so it will never change. It was absolutely wonderful and Antonio and his hotel were the icing on the cake. I give the Hotel Parsifal five stars.

We have recently returned from a excellent weeks stay at the Parsifal for the week from June 9th.

The hotel location is wonderful, the standard of our rooms superb, catering of a very good quality and the view really stunning. However the most outstanding aspect was the attention to our needs provided by Antonio and his staff (family and friends). The Parsifal is a small hotel and we had hoped for a friendly, helpful attitude from the staff. We were more than satisfied. We were provided with all the information we could need, good advice, and lots of support, even if Italy’s football team needed it more than we did! Overall a more friendly atmosphere would be hard to find.

We're sure that we'll return and next time will know not to hire a car, as the advice given not to drive was 100% correct. The bus service locally is absolutely the best way of getting about, inexpensive, and much less taxing on the nerves than trying to drive. I believe that taxis can be arranged from Naples airport which would be even better.

It is really pleasing to be able to wholeheartedly recommended the hotel to others and we have already done so. This is a rarity for us as we visit many hotels each year on business and very few live up to expectations. Congratulations!

My wife and I just returned from a little over two weeks in Italy, the last 3 nights staying in Ravello at the Hotel Parsifal. We have NEVER had such a wonderful experience(and we travel a lot) anywhere. Tony and his family and staff are the absolute best : our room was terrific and the view incredible, the cloister and main building and common areas beautiful and beautifully kept up(a prize photo we will probably have blown up and framed is of the HP of green clover amidst the red begonias), and the restaurant food and service as good as we had anywhere in Italy. While we honestly loved every single thing about Italy, from Milan to Venice to Florence to Rome to Ravello, the Parsifal is the place that we must return to when we get back to Italy. Tony and his family and staff provided us a memory to last a lifetime!

We stayed at Hotel Parsifal for four nights in June 2008. Our experience was fantastic. The staff were most welcoming and so helpful. We were upgraded to a seaview room at no extra charge, and the views were stunning. This hotel is about a 5 minute walk to the main square of Ravello. Let me just say that I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to hotel cleanliness, and rarely find a hotel that meets all of my expectations. The rooms were sparkling clean! Free internet is available which was handy, and the b-fast was quite nice. I would definitely return here if I am ever back in the region!

A few notes about Ravello - definitely go to Cumpa Cosimo for dinner - it is incredible! The symphony was fantastic and the Villa Cimbrone Gardens are a must. We almost didn't go in, as we were unsure if it would be worth the cost, but it was well worth the $$ paid! Another warning if you are looking to book in Ravello - there are a few hotels listed on this site that are no where close to the town center so if you do plan on visiting "Ravello proper" double check with the hotel that you book as otherwise you may find it will cost you a lot to get around.

We really cannot praise this charming hotel enough. It is run by the Mansi family, who are wonderful - so helpful and friendly. They treated us like family. We had a spacious room, with its own little patio and garden, with wonderful views down to the Amalfi coastline. The room was spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Antonio is the manager and I even practised my limited Italian on him and he was very helpful in correcting my mistakes! The food was delicious, so compliments to Luciano, the chef. Leonardo and Raffaele were the very cheerful and helpful waiters, and breakfasts and dinners were very pleasant occasions. We hired a car at Naples airport and had a beautiful drive through lush green valleys to reach Ravello. Ravello itself is a magical place - a medieval hilltop village with wonderful views down to the coastline. We visited such places suich as Pompeii, Minori and Maori, and also explored further along the coast. The drive along the Amalfi coastline is quite hair-raising, but beautiful. We also took the local bus down to Amalfi to catch the ferries to Positano and Capri. We were fortunate enough to stay for 2 weeks at the hotel Parsifal, which gave us the opportunity to explore the surrounding sights at our leisure. Antonio had organised a car parking place right outside the hotel, so that was no problem. We cannot wait to go back and it will be interesting to see when the planned renovations at the hotel will take place.

We have just returned from a fantastic 9 night stay at the Hotel Parsifal. It is quite simply one of the best holidays we have every had! Antonio arranged our taxi transfers from and to Naples airport, and our driver was there waiting for us when we landed. On arrival at the hotel, we received a warm welcome and were shown to our room which had spectacular views over the Amalfi coast. Although tired and hungry, we thought we'd be too late for dinner, however, Luciano had planned for our late arrival and we were provided with a delicious meal in the restaurant.

Things just went from good to excellent and it's difficult to include everything in this review.

The food - breakfast, simple but delightful, dinner - consistently delicious with a varied menu of fish, meat, vegetables, pasta - all imaginatively prepared by Luciano and served by Leonardo and Raphael; the local wines are the perfect complement to the food.
We were fortunate that the weather was warm enough to enjoy dinner each night on the terrace with the previously mentioned breathtaking views over the little villages below.

Pre-dinner each evening, we enjoyed probably the best gin and tonics in Ravello. If you wish to keep abreast of events, there is Sky TV in the lounge for BBC News 24 etc., as well as free internet.

Parsifal is undergoing a refurbishment programme (causing no disruption whatsoever) and the renovated rooms really are beautiful - this will elevate the hotel to an even higher standard.

The combination of a fabulous location, the highest level of service, the rooms, the views, the food, the staff make Parsifal hard to beat. There is something else you can't define, a kind of magic about the place, and the Mansi brothers along with their friends are so genuinely friendly that you feel completely at home.

Following our stay at Parsifal, we have broken our own rule of never going back to the same place twice and have already made our booking for 2009!
