“Poor room, good food, fantastic view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 November 2009

The room was poor, with no frigobar, and no much space to put the bags, but the food was really good, they have crackers for celiacs, which is nice, and also they care about celiacs in the menu, which is fantastic. They should have told about the different rooms, because if we knew before, maybe we should have changed... the staff is very kind and gentle. It was great days there in RAvello. Its a place everybody should go!!!!

Stayed here for 3 nights based of Tripadvisor reviews - we were not disappointed! we weren't going to stay here at first as you have to book it on a half board basis, but after tasting the food, we were so glad we did! we opted for the lunch - fresh pasta or fish each day, fresh ingredients, homemade cakes and puddings, delicious wine, and all in beautiful surroundings. Breakfast was so-so - cereal, fruit and toast mainly. The hotel has bundles of character (it's an old covent) and being up in the mountains, amazing views no matter which direction you look. Our room wasn't plush (but it was large), and the bathroom was very basic, but i loved its quirkiness and that there was a door in the bathroom that led on to our massive private terrace. The location was great too. I would stay here again - amazing food, great staff, beautiful surrounds - Ravello is small but very special! We went on to Positano afterwards but it wasn't a patch on Ravello.. We also caught the bus to Amalfi but didn't like it at all - and came straight back!

Hotel Parsifal is a wonderful, historic property in Ravello. The local Mansi family (brothers Antonio, Leonardo, Luciano, cousin Raefelo and others) are personable, service-oriented owner/operators who are continually upgrading this hotel. The views, location, renovated bedrooms, food and service are terrific. We loved it!

We stayed at the Hotel Parsifal last year as my daughter was getting married in Amalfi. It is such a friendly 'family' hotel that I decided to take my wife back there for a surprise birthday visit. We were greeted like long lost friends by Antonio, the proprietor, and his team and, as before, nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel has a spectacular view and although our chosen room had not yet been refurbished , this did not seem to matter as we had a private veranda and everything was spotlessly clean. The atmosphere is relaxed and staff were genuinely helpful and did not give the impression of just "going through the motions".
The food, although simple was delicious and I am only sorry that we did not ask Antonio to lay on a special "birthday feast", choosing instead to go to the Sasso Palace, which was ourageously expensive, over stylised and a great disappointment.
A lovely touch at the Parsifal was the birthday cake presented to Angela and a complimentary bottle of Prosecco. All this was done with geat warmth and yet (although we wouldn't have minded) no hint of over-familiarity.
We have travelled extensively to many places in the world and do sometimes get tired of the 'circus' some hotels go through in their quest for higher star ratings. This hotel offers real hospitality at a very reasonable price and we will certainly return again.

Amzing location ... you cant fault that .. the views are stunning ... But the difference in the old and new rooms is badly refected in the price .. pay the same price as some one in a new room with air con .. better facilites... !!! Food wise was average ... Service .. maybe as a single girl the thought that i wouldnt complain .. but i work in the travel industry and i feel that they could do witha few lessons in customer service !! rooms .. small ... bathrooms in serious need of updating !!

better hotels in the area , better price ... only thing that made it was the view !!

Just occasionally you get a chance to visit a place that is actually better than the brochure/web site suggests. Hotel Parisfal is one such venue.

The location is amazing, with glorious views down the Amalfi coast (from room 22) and the service is superb. The room was comfortable, with enough space to make it feel relaxed.

It's worth qualifying what the hotel isn't. This a traditional family run establishment in an old monastry so you don't find a swimming pool or high fashion interiors. It's a 10 minute walk from the town centre, and I liked having this walk through some interesting narrow streets to/from dinner at restaurants in the town.

This hotel is most definately on my 'must-return-one-day' list.

Parsifal offered us great value for money - we paid euros135 per night, which is at the low end for hotels of this sort in the amalfi coast area. The room was clean, reasonably spacious and quaint (it used to be a monastery)....but the best thing about room 11 was the breathtaking sea view. The two brothers that manage the hotel left a memorable impression of service at its best. Last but by no means least, the location is superb. Ravello is a tiny town (2800 residents) - our hotel was just a few blocks down the road from the famous 5-star Palazzo Sasso (2 michellin starred rousellini's). We would recommend this hotel to all budget travellers to Ravello.
