“THE place for food.”

The place is staffed by old-style ultra-professional waiters who swiftly and effortlessly cope with a busy and popular restaurant. Food was first-rate. The meat trolley with boiled and roasted meats looked and was excellent. Served with the traditional mash and side bowls of tasty and spicy condiments.Other dishes were also good and punters came expecting to eat well and ceratinly did. A most brilliant restaurant. We booked and is probably necessary.

“An unexpected experience”

The restraunt was recommended by AlbergoMorandi (reviewed separately) as typical of the region. We arrived early before preparations were complete. We were made welcome.
We ordered from the meat trolley, an over whelming selection and quantity. Because of our poor language skills we sampled meats not knowing what they were! (Some still unknown!!)
An unforgetable and wonderful experience. The staff, although serious about their craft, bridged the communication gap to ensure we enjoyed what we sampled.

“So Traditional We Barely Realize It - and Proportionately Good”

Trolleys with multiple choices of meats - one for roasted meats and one for boiled meats - are one of the features of traditional (read: 1950-1970s) central Italian cuisine. A restaurant's quality used to be gauged by how good they were at extremely simple preparations such as roasts and bolliti (boiled meats). Three ways to goodness and greatness:
1. quality of ingredients and raw materials - and of intermediate preparations such as stuffing
2. careful attention to cooking
3. sauces and side dishes

Well, welcome to very good 1960s Italian cooking. After great "cappelletti" in clear chicken soup, we chose to focus on bolliti for - relative - lightness, and stoically chose to have fewer than all the choices available: stuffing ("ripieno", a soft mix of bread, vegetables and egg and mild spices that would otherwise go into stuffed chicken or other meats, here offered separately), beef tongue, two different cuts of beef, ham, cotechino, and pig trotter. There were another three or four to choose from.

Green sauce (bread, persil and capers in olive oil) and horseradish sauce were very good; red (tomato) sauce was good, "mostarda" (sweet and sour fruit pickled with mustard seed) was extremely good.

One of two, very traditional desserts was very good - créme caramel. The other, just as traditional, was a bit dull.

Very, very positively: this is one of the very few times in Italy when I accepted ordering without seeing a menu with prices, and was positively surprised by the final bill. Even wine - a light, sparkling and relatively dry Lambrusco - and water turned out to be surprisingly low-priced.

“For the meat lovers”

I ate here twice recently and really enjoyed it. It was not what I would have chosen initially but, the meals were both delicious. The main course is from the meat trolley and I have no idea what some of the sausages might be but the roast meats are easy to recognize. There were lots of local customers which is always a good sign.

“Heavy duty but great food”

This is a great traditional RE restaurant run by a bunch of middle aged waiters who are helpful if brusque at times. It is easy to overdose on meat here. But the pumpkin tortellini are wonderful, as is anything with funghi. We made the mistake of looking at the dessert trolly and consequently that pushed the richness dial to 11. that said, the marscapone was excellent. Had a great time at euro 80 for 2, included primi, secondi and dessert plus wine. Meat lovers will love the meat tray.
