've just returned from a week long trip in Riva del Garda and had to write a review of the wonderful apartment we stayed in - La Colombera. I was so impressed with the actual apartment, which was clean, spacious and really tastefully decorated and laid out. We stayed in the "The Tower", the largest apartment, which contained a double room and a twin room, as well as a fold out sofa. The total for the week was €616 between 4 people - exceptional value for a two bedroomed apartment in Riva. The building itself has been lovingly restored and refurbished with many of the architectural features still intact.
The setting is also amazing - located in a picturesque vineyard, just 10 minutes walk from the beach at Riva Del Garda, it's extremely quiet and peaceful with lovely gardens to relax and read a book or drink a glass of wine in. There's an excellent restaurant on the ground floor, which we ate in 3 or 4 times. The food was delicious, as was the wine - made in their own vineyard.
I have to mention the staff as well, particularly Paulo and Antonio, who were so helpful and friendly. On our first night, we arrived after midnight, tired and hungry after our long flight and drive. Even though the restaurant was closed, Paulo whipped up a feast of meats, cheeses, breads, salads and wine for us and even drove ahead of us to a neighbouring apartment complex where some of our party were staying to show us the way! Really exceptional service and value, I would recommend this place to anyone. Can't wait to back again some day.

We went to the resturant in Colombera, Riva as we thought it looked like a very nice establishment. The staff seemed to be very busy and working under pressure and did not have any time to discuss the menu with you. We had our first course which was nice and then our second course arived and during it the manager began screaming and abusing his staff and kept it up all during the meal. It really spoiled our night and when I said to him that it was very unprofessional he just dismissed me with a wave of his hand. When my husband was paying the bill he said it to him as well and he just ranted and complained about his problems. No apology and no embrassment from him and certainly no revisit from us!!!

We stayed at the Residence La Colombera for two nights at the end of May. The accommodation is situated on a vineyard with great views of the Riva del Garda area. It is only a five minutes by car to the centre of Riva del Garda.

We stayed in the ‘Violet’ apartment (there are nine) which was on the first floor and had great views across the vineyard. We had a large bedroom, a big living room with a sofa bed and TV, a kitchen with all the facilities required fridge/freezer/cooker. All the crockery was supplied, as was the bed linen and towels. The bathroom was large with a shower, loo, bidet, sink and a clothes airer. The apartment was decorated to a very high standard; it was spacious and superb throughout. There were a couple of supermarkets in the town for breakfast supplies.

There was secure parking on the property with electric gates which led into a nice garden area with picnic tables, sun beds and places to store and wash your sports equipment.

There is also a restaurant which was nice and busy with a good atmosphere. The food was very good and we ended up eating there on both nights of our stay! The staff were very friendly and the locally produced wine (very reasonably priced) went well with our pasta!

Antonio who runs the business was really nice and friendly, there was also no problem when we arrived a bit later than expected due to traffic, and he spoke English. We thought our stay was very good value at 75 Euros a night for the apartment and wished that we had booked longer and would definitely recommend it as it was also a great base for exploring the lake area.
