just back from an enjoyable stay at Hotel Luise
on checkin we were given a renovated room at the front of hotel over looking road, a car park but lake could be seen in the distance not the best of views but we have had worse, there was a bit of traffic noise but this didnt really bother us. The room was a bit on the small side decorated in a modern contemporary style which i found a bit sterile and soleless but comfortable, very clean as was the bathroom, and the rest of hotel, nice breakfast ,nice pool area and bar, big free car park at rear , staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel luise enjoys a good location with old town just around 15min stroll away, lake about the same and also a few bars and restaurants in the opposite direction, close to bus routes and they supply free bikes. on my birthday found a lovely bottle of sparkling wine and fruit in our room, nice touch (thanks) Very nice hotel in a good location just not sure about the room decor (personal thing !) would have liked to have seen one of the standard rooms as to compare but i would not hesitate to recommend Hotel Luise

We stayed for a week at the end of September. We'd asked for a refurbished room at the back of the hotel after reading previous reviews which was overlooking the pool and very quiet. We had to pay an extra 10 euros a night for this room which was very modern in design but not always practical. The hanging space for clothes was open and, while there was adequate space for our clothes, there was no long hanging space for maxi dresses so they were all bunched up at the bottom causing them to get creased. Also I felt this design was making the room look untidy as all the clothes were in full view. There were only 3 drawers in the room and nowhere to sit to do your hair etc. There was a chair in front of the unit but on the shelf in front of it was the tea/coffee making facilities. The only electric point that I could find was the one that the kettle was plugged into and the mirror wasn't very close to it so hair straightening was awkward. There was also no shelf in the bathroom so our toilet bags had to be kept on the floor. They were the only negatives really. Apart from that this is a nice hotel, very clean, the breakfasts were lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. There are city bikes available to borrow free of charge and we cycled to Arco (a town 4 or 5 miles away) one day which was great. Cycle paths nearly all the way and very safe. Everyone cycles in Riva. There is a great bike shop a few doors down from the hotel where we hired mountain bikes and went on some fabulous bike rides (the Ponale trail was the best, ask in the bike shop how to get there). There is loads to do in Riva and would definitely go back there and probably to this hotel too.

Stayed here for one week in Sep 2013. The hotel is about 5 mins walk from the edge of the town centre and 10-15mins from the main centre where all the main bars and restaurants are.

We booked a standard room which was small, as described when we booked. We were offered a refurbished room on check in or a room with a balcony, both at additional charge but turned them down. The room was compact but was very clean. We had a problem with noisy AC, but this was rectified immediately.

The communal areas are modern and clean and the pool area is spacious with plenty of clean towels. The breakfast was especially good with a wide variety of fresh food on offer including eggs cooked to order. As good as any 5* breakfast I've had.

Loved the hotel - opposite two footpaths that led straight down to the lake side. Room very stylish - minimalist - neutral shades and we loved that there were no standards prints on the walls. Lovely and plain, but very comfortable. Breakfasts delicious, self service with everything you could want - and all lovely and fresh. Staff great. I think they are missing a trick with not having the bar open until 4pm each day - it would have been nice to sit with a pot of tea late afternoon taking in the peace and quiet at the back of the hotel. If you are used to a quiet area, then don't take a room at the front. The noise from the traffic was horrendous (we like to have the window open, but gave that up). That's the only reason I have given this a 4*. Want to go back and am quite irritated that there's probably someone sleeping in my room now!!

Room Tip: The back of the hotel would be a bit quieter

We have just returned from a seven night stay at the Hotel Luise and felt compelled to comment. Immaculately clean and well presented, excellent breakfasts and staff that always smiled and went out of their way to help. We had a ground floor renovated room overlooking the garden and pool - first class. For the classification of hotel it is worth every penny. The location is good for Riva and the lake. We did not eat dinner at the Luise as there is so much choice locally that we wanted to test the area, no disrespect to the hotel.

This is the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in.

Hotel Luise far exceeded expectation based on its service, superb breakfasts, friendly staff (who speak exceptionally good English) and overall functionality. Thoughtful and considered recommendations for local restaurants & clubs from the ladies and gentlemen at reception - all staff go out of their way to help and smile - breakfast room and bar staff included.

Upgrade to a refurbished room, minimal cost and nicely done. Reminded me of a small, slightly plainer version of a Radisson Blu without the corporate feel ! Pool area was literally spotless.

If you are after a traditional, plush building with leafy palms and terracotta tiles this is not your place - if you like chic, contemporary yet practical with exceptional service then this would be for you. Not in the main square, 8 min walk - we preferred this as slightly away from the madding crowd. Very short walk (5 min) to beach and sailing / windsurf hire (be careful, the hire centre will hire ad lib without proof of sailing experience as we found out to our detriment - the wind gets up quickly in Riva !!) . Hotel is not particularly ugly from the outside, just new fairly new build.

Exceptional - thank you Hotel Luise.

Room Tip: Back of the hotel over looks pool and residential area as opposed to front which is road. Balcony ro...
