“Upgraded to Suite made it all worthwile”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

Although the hotel is quite dated we were lucky to have been given the suite for 124 EUR which was absolutely awesome. It has panoramic views, a brand new bathroom and a litte extra dressing room where we could leave the suitcases. We really enjoyed the views all around and the feeling of this big newly renovated room. The staff was very friendly and easy going. Breakfast outside on the roof top was average but again offered lovely views onto lake and mountain.

Room Tip: try to get the suite for a good price it is worth while

We stayed here for a week in June and weren't disappointed. We were half board and arrived late. The staff kindly put 2 salad plates in our room which were tasty and sufficient. The room was great. Not a lot of storage space, mirrors or dressing area but lovely bathroom, great bed and balcony with excellent views. The roof terrace could have been spruced up a bit but the views from up there were fantastic. Breakfast was fine, nothing amazing but everything you'd expect to find. We on,y ate in the restaurant one evening. It was a little hectic but we managed to get a table. Again the views and the setting were lovely. Our starters were fantastic but unfortunately our mains were forgotten about so after a lengthy wait we brought it to the waiters attention and were then served food which looked like it had sat under a hot plate for a long time, not good at all. We didn't bother with he restaurant again as there are so many fantastic places to eat in the surrounding area. The stay was still excellent value for money without using the restaurant. We were very impressed with the building, setting, location and room and would happily stay again. The reception staff were extremely helpful, informative and friendly

Room Tip: Definitely worth the extra fe wounds for balcony

I was there just for a night. I had a very minimal room (I guess in a new area of the building) with a very small bathroom (with holes in the wall) without shampoo or bathsoap. There was a small balcony with a nice view but if was full of trash (empty bottles and cigarettes). The wifi was very poor. The breakfast on the last floor was good with a nice view. Considering it's a 4* hotel, I was expecting a better room and accommodation (given also the paid prices)...

An exceptional venue with fantastic staff. They helped us with transport to reach them on our arrival in Desenzano. Their local cab driver was excellent and even stopped to show us a fireworks display at no extra charge. The restaurant staff were friendly and helpful and the quality of the breakfast was superb. We would highly recommend this hotel and are likely to return.

We did not stay here, but we ate here, and I cannot find a separate rating anywhere for the hotel's restaurant. But this needs to be said: The worst meal we had in two weeks in Italy was at this restaurant. We had climbed to S. Barbara, it was mid-afternoon, and this place was open (many others were not). I ordered an omelette, my daughter a hamburger, my son pasta. All three dishes were horrendously over-salted. The first two came with a mountain of French fries, also horrendously over-salted. Oddly, the hamburger consisted of two patties and no bun. But it was the salt that secured this restaurant's ranking as dead last of all the places we ate over two weeks.

Very disappointed with the food in the upstairs restaurant, very basic considering what we paid, very poor selection to choose from and we were not offered any alternatives and ended eating out most nights. Also disappointed that we had to pay for the hire of bicycles when friends staying in similar hotels in the area got them free of charge. Requested early morning wake up call on day of departure and it didn't happen. Rooms very basic with tea or coffee making facilities, overall disappointed with the hotel and service provided.

Just back from a relaxing holiday in riva del Garda. Staff at grand hotel were lovely and pleasant. Food was amazing on both hotel restaurant and ground floor restaurant. 10 mins from the beach and had brilliant views, both at night and during the day from the top floor restaurant. Hotel spa was amazing, we mostly used the hot tub and steam room, worth your while when it was raining. Great experience. I will defiantly be back.
