Amazing hotel

Review of Lido Palace
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 7 Sept 2016
We have just returned from a 3 day break here for our 20th wedding anniversary, wow!! I can't express how lovely this hotel is, from the minute you check in you feel really special, the staff can't do enough for you, we had a double deluxe room which was really spacious with fantastic views across the lake, all contemporary in design as is the rest of the hotel, breakfast was lovely, we didn't eat at the hotel in the evening but the food looked really good, we had a bottle of champagne in our room for our anniversary which was a lovely touch, overall this is a true 5 star hotel in every way in the most beautiful setting, we don't normally stay in the same place twice but we would love to return to this wonderful hotel at some point.

We stayed for two nights at the Lido Palace. Everything is quite nice, new, and modern and there is an ok view towards the lake, but it is a view partly obscured by trees (at least from our second floor room). The room was ok sized, but not large. Great noise insulation to the hallway, but virtually none to the bathroom and toilet...

The bar is nice, with both and indoor and outdoor area, although the service was a bit on the slow side. The outdoor area had a live pianist every night we were there. There was both an indoor and outdoor pool, which both were nice and the spa and sauna areas looked nice too (although we didn't use them). Supposedly there were drinks served at the pool too, but we never saw any staff.

The staff was very good and friendly, and helpful in getting both transport arranged and dinner reservations.

The hotel was nicely situated very close to the center of town. The only issue was that Saturday night there was a loud outdoor concert going on all evening, and well past midnight, right next to the hotel area. That made it a bit hard to fall asleep that night...

I cannot say enough about this hotel. It's a 5 star in every way. I had a four night stay with my wife for our wedding anniversary. From the very start I knew this was going to be good. The check in was so nice. The lady was very friendly and walked us to our room and showed us all its features. The room was great with a lovely view. A free bottle of champagne arrived immediately as a present for our anniversary. We had the most relaxing time ever and it was really hard to leave the hotel to explore the area. The bar and music (Marco) at night time was really special. He played the piano and always tried to make a special connection. He really made the nights memorable. The food was top class. Every meal we had was consistently perfect. I used the spa and must say it was one of the best I have ever been too. All the staff were excellent. The lady at the front desk was particularly excellent. Always helpful.
We plan to make this hotel our true escape in Europe.

The Lido Palace is a beautiful old mansion renovated to both preserve the grandeur of the original structure and add an extensive modern wing housing restaurants and the spa. It is well located, a 10 min walk to town, with truly great service and spectacular accommodation. Certainly 5 star.

We have booked the hotel based on pet allowed selection in tripadvisor and booking.com
After some days we got the information that they don t take little dogs and it needs 4 mails and several calls to cancel the booking without fee (in our case 1000 Euro).
Accepting the General policy this is not a performance of a "leading hotel".

Dear Olaf W,

thank you for taking the time to describe your experience during the booking process.
Let me first of all to point out that we do accept dogs, small sized pets but definitively they are very welcomed as many Custmers can testify.
In addition, my assertion is very clearly posted and written in the corrispondence occured between you and our booking office.
As far as the 4 e-mails and several calls to release your booking is concerned, you should be a little bit more clear. In fact one e-mail has been enough for us to grant you free cancellation although you were not entitled. Most probably you are making reference to the web intermediary that handled your booking.

Best regards

It already starts with vallet parking in the beautifull park around the hotel. Spacious lobby and carefully chosen materials makes the first contact even better. When you realize there is also a one star Michelin restaurant you do not even care anymore how your room looks. However you are not dissapointed...:)
Only the price is high but I guess you pay for what you get
