“Excellent hotel.”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

We travelled to Riva Del Garda with Travelsphere and paid for the hotel upgrade and ended up here. Boy were we glad! This place is great, such attentive and friendly staff, especially Donato, he was a real star. Nothing too much trouble. Ever! Food was great, wine was better (thanks to Donato lol) really ca't find fault. Also, being in the motor trade for far too many years appreciated The owners decor! A very original restored Fiat 5oo in reception plus several early scooters on display too, oh and his Ferrari perched in its 'room' behind the pool area !

Room Tip: One of the top floors can see the lake from the balcony, plus no noise form the bars at night.

...maybe my expectations were too high?

I was a little underwhelmed by the Hotel Savoy Palace. Usually I find the TripAdvisor reviews to be completely accurate, but on this occasion I am not quite as enamoured with this hotel as other reviewers!

There are some very good points about this hotel, particulary the free use of the bikes as cycling is postively encouraged in Riva - you're far safer on a bike than as a pedestrian! There are a lot of bikes and a lot of lycra... you have been warned!

The common areas are very well kept with beautiful flower displays and the swimming pool (although rather chilly) was very pleasant to sit around.

The hotel is very tired and rooms are dated, but they are clean with comfortable beds. No body lotion with the toiletries and the hairdryer is a sight to behold! It is just a nozzle on a pipe that whispers cool air onto your hair! My advice, take your own!

The biggest disappointment for us was the food - the breakfast was often luke warm, we do prefer a late breakfast but the later we were, the colder breakfast got! The four courses the brochure spoke of consisted of either soup or salad to start - there were 3 soup flavours in rotation during our stay and the salad was cold broccoli, cold green beans but plenty of aubergines and courgettes which I enjoyed...even though they too were cold!

Your starter, main course and dessert are chosen at breakfast and looked very fancy on paper but in reality the mains were largely meat and 1 veg with rather a lot of gravy! There were no 'stand-out' meals throughout the entire stay.

This hotel attracts a more mature crowd and the evening entertainment reflected this. It did seem to be a lone chap on a piano every evening with a karaoke screen...we didn't actually stay to watch him - he may have been great!

We booked this hotel because of the free bike hire and good reviews, we were not disappointed. Being a couple in our sixties but reasonably fit we enjoy meandering on bikes but also relaxing by the pool and spoiling ourselves with a few drinks and good food and this hotel definitely fitted the bill. Riva is quite a busy little town so we found it was better to cycle when it was quiet ( to avoid the pedestrians and fast mountain bikers) - breakfast early and cycle afterwards. Breakfast and cycle hire starts at 7am, we were usually on our bikes by 9am cycled into Riva or Torbole (2km quite flat around the lake) and had a coffee and meander round the shops and back by 11.30.

We found prices for coffee and alcohol very reasonable our room was lovely with a large balcony and sun beds and brilliant view of the mountains, we hadn't upgraded, we were in a corner room on the second floor. The maid worked exceptionally hard and kept everything spotless. Taking your own hair dryer is a must!

The food was very good although sometimes it could have been hotter. Overall we highly recommend this hotel, we had a brilliant holiday.

Room Tip: Take a chance and if not happy ask for something better, reception staff are very obliging.

As a solo traveler I enjoyed my recent stay at this superb hotel. The staff were very friendly and the food was plentiful and very good. Being on my own I thought the room may be small but was pleasantly pleased to find I had a spacious double room with no single supplement and it was located on the fourth floor which meant good views. The resort of Riva is very safe and some lovely walks by the lake into the town centre or to Torbole are within easy reach of the hotel. The pool garden was lovely with plenty of sun beds and catching the sun all day. I certainly recommend this hotel.

We have just returned from a very comfortable stay. The hotel is clearly popular and rightly so. Our room was well appointed. The food was plentiful and well presented. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The hotel is situated a kilometer or so from the town centre but there is a regular bus service.

Spent a week here at the end of May and enjoyed every minute! Lovely and helpful staff, beautiful rooms, and a fantastic array of food at every meal.Thoughtful touches included the free tea/coffe/juice and cakes between 4 and 5 pm everyday. Although the hotel was busy (we were there with Riviera travel) with both English and German visitors it did not feel crowded and there were plenty of seats both inside and out to choose from. Lovely pool with views of the mountains.
The hotel is a short walk from the lakeside and about a 25 minute stroll along the lake to Riva del Garda town.
Hotel owner Mr Tonelli was charm itself and everyone enjoyed the 'Ferrari night', with free drinks and a chance to sit in the shiny red car!

Room Tip: Would choose a room on the higher floors to avoid any noise from the street, although it was quiet a...

My partner and I spent a week here at the end of May,2014. A very large hotel, mainly English and German guests. The accommodation was very clean and tidy and everyroom had a balcony. It was situated about 5min walk from the lake and about a 15min walk through parks or you could take the main road into town but you had to resist temptation by going by a very good ice cream parlour which served sumptuous ice cream. The meals at the hotel were very good, breakfast being a buffet style and you had to fill a form in every day to let them know what you was ordering for the evening meal. The food was a very good mixture in which although I am a bit of a fussy eating and I like to know what is on my plate, the English translation does it justice or you can always ask the waiter. Although our waitress was Argentinian and didn't speak a lot of English,we certainly built a rapport with her and managed to converse with each other whilst trying not to laugh too much. If you wanted, they also served a kind of afternoon tea between 4 and 5. A chap played every evening at dinner on the paiano and then afterwards, you couldf go and sit in the open bar area or in the bar itself where most evenings they had music.

Room Tip: The rooms on the 3rd floor upwards had a better view
