This hotel is everything you need for a nice stay in Lake Garda.. All staff friendly and we stayed on a BB basis. Breakfast was excellent with staff exceptionally friendly and attentive.
the drinks weren't over priced as I've found in many hotels. We didn't have a balcony however to upgrade was rather pricey (so we didn't bother).
room clean and adequate for a weeks stay (some drawers would have been useful and I really think tea / coffee making facilities in the room would have been a huge bonus.

the sun terrace was beautiful however the reason for giving very good instead of excellent for this review is the lack of dip pool or even a cooling off shower. The roof gets extremely hot in sunshine and with no cooling off facilities I couldn't last very long up there.

all in all a very pleasant stay and would stay here again if the few changes were made.

Fabulous week at the Antico Borgo in July!

Hotel staff were courteous and very helpful throughout our stay. Can’t praise them enough.

Our immaculately clean room was very modern with a great bathroom/shower and the most comfy bed ever! The cleaning staff do an amazing job throughout the whole hotel. Spotless!

Great little reception/bar/seating area with free, fast, wifi. Bar prices are more than reasonable – Prosecco by the glass at 3 Euro went down a treat! Great cocktails too - special thanks to Misky who made a great Alexander (or two)!

The hotel’s roof terrace was great for a bit of R&R and a most fabulous view of the lake!

We stayed B&B, as so many lovely places to dine out in Riva ….. we loved Leon D’Oro, Trattoria Al Vatican but our favourite was Pizzeria Maffei We also found a fabulous restaurant in nearby Torbole – Al Porto - superb food!

It seems from chatting to various people during our stay, Antico Borgo is one of the most modern hotels in Riva (a lot of others are seemingly a little ‘tired’).

We used the boats, buses and walked to various other resorts – Torbole, Arco, Limone, Malcesine, Garda … you really do need to get out and about to appreciate what Lake Garda has to offer. Went on the cable car at Monte Baldo (which did not conquer my fear of heights!) and also took a day trip to Venice (2.5hr bus/15 min water taxi transfers - worth seeing – but sadly wouldn’t rush back). We bought a ‘Northern Hopper’ ticket from Riva Ticket Office (at the port) for 20 Euro which gets you around the resorts in the Northern part of the lake for the day which was great – but the bus service is far cheaper and really easy.

Would return in a heartbeat to Antico Borgo and to Lake Garda.

We booked our holiday through Thomas Cook and their service was excellent – their resort Reps Holly and Becky were great.

We stayed here for a 3-night short break. The best thing about it as others have said is the location. It's very nice to be able to pop straight out the front door and wander the little streets getting an ice-cream, looking at handbags (if you're my missus) etc. The hotel was very clean and functional. There's not much within the hotel / your room to do so for us it really is the location that makes it, and the hotel does nothing wrong at all - the food and staff were all very good.

Also lots of nice restaurants in the area to choose for lunch, afternoon drink, and so on. Lake Garda is beautiful. We would return to this hotel for another short break without hesitation.

I suppose the most awkward thing is getting there from Verona airport (which is not the hotels fault) so maybe research a cheap way of getting there before you arrive as a taxi is expensive as it's a fair old distance.

We have just returned from a one week holiday at this hotel on 26 July. We were a party of 4 adults. Having never been to Italy before this was a new experience for us all. Firstly, Rival Del Garda is a beautiful resort with lots of shops, bars and restaurants.

Now for the hotel. From first being met at the ferry port by one of the reception staff (can't remember her name) to the day we left the staff were fantastic and I would say some of the most friendly and helpful hotel staff I have come across.

The hotel is on a quiet street at the back of the main square, but it takes less than 2 minutes to be on the square and at the side of the lake.

Hotel Rooms - the rooms are not huge, but not small either. We had a room overlooking the back of the hotel, but had a lovely view of the mountains. Rooms are very clean and modern. Air conditioning is just about adequate. The only negative with the rooms is a lack of storage. There are no sets of drawers, just 3 shelves in the wardrobe and it is a smallish wardrobe, not really adequate for 2 people's clothes etc for a week. The sun terrace was a little disappointing as there are only 6 sunbeds, which if the hotel was full would not be anywhere near enough and there are no parasols at all some frequent application of sunscreen is necessary as it gets very hot on the roof. Antico Borgo - please consider more sunbeds and some parasols.

Food - I would highly recommend this hotel, but would suggest staying on a bed and breakfast basis, as the food sometimes left a little to be desired. The starters were far better than the main meals every night, and sometime the main meals were just not nice. Breakfast was very limited for me as I like hard boiled eggs, but as these were not pre-prepared and you had to stand and boil themselves yourself for 10 minutes, I frankly could not be bothered with it. I'm sure there are many more like me. Please Antico Borgo have hard boiled egss cooked and ready. The food aside, I would like to say that the Maitre d' (can't spell his name) and his staff are friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. They are excellent and a credit to the hotel (as are all the staff).

Service - We had a problem with our safe on the second day. After reporting the problem to reception, a gentlemen was at our door to fix the problem in less than 5 miniutes. I have never known such a quick response to a problem in any hotel I have ever stayed in.

Overall - would highly recommend this hotel and we are in fact planning on going back in 2 years time. Would not stay in any other resort or hotel.

Room Tip: We had a room without a balcony, which in the end we glad were did because most of the balconies loo...

This is a really nice hotel. As other reviews have noted the staff are exceptionally friendly. The rooms are clean and quiet and the hotel is brilliantly positioned. Aside from not having that perfect pre-dinner bar (although the bar staff were great) and an air conditioning that struggled with the heat it was near perfect.

Just returned from another fantastic week at this hotel. If you are looking for a spotlessly clean ,centrally located hotel then look no further! Staff couldn't be more helpful or friendlier- supplying you with bus timetables etc.
It pays to go half board as it's only about £30 extra per week . This year we ate out on two occasions both times at the Picadilly Bar just round the corner . Riva is just a wonderful place to holiday, hoping to return again next year.

I've recently read some adverse comments about this hotel and cannot understand why, its brilliant.
Its located right in the centre of the old town, is modern, clean with a first class restaurant and excellent friendly staff who cater for young and old alike with a respect many hotels lack.
I strongly recommend this hotel
