“Happy!!”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

We stayed in Room 402 on top/4th floor, the view out the window was Incredible!!!!

There is a lift in the hotel but only went to 3rd floor,we were not bothered by it.
The bedroom was cosy and warm and was cleaned daily.
Even though we didn't get a double bed(....it was 2 single beds pushed together),they were very comfortable, especially the pillows (better than my own)!!
There was no hairdryer in the room, but was given one on request from reception, then was surprised to return to our room on the 3rd day after the slopes to a brand new hairdryer fitted to the wall in the bathroom!!

The Staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke good English!
Both Breakfast and Dinner were better than we expected. Had an option for the evening on starters, main and dessert,on a daily basis which you choose the night before.
Overall food was great!

If you do venture out for dinner I highly recommend La Grillia restaurant in the old town. Turn right out of the hotel and walk down the hill. Great food at great prices!

Ski advice, don't bother with the bus to Sportinia lift in the morning, long wait and no guarantee you will get on as they are always packed! As Hotel Sauze is a short walk away from the Clotes lift, walking up the hill is definitely the best/quickest way to get on the slopes!

In a Nutshell, we would happily stay here again!!

We had a low expectation when arriving at Hotel Sauze due to staying at The Hermitage Hotel last year.

Room Tip: If you are not bothered by the stairs, top floor would be my preference as less noise.

Stayed 2nd to 9th Feb 2014 with a mate. Everything about this hotel was excellent. All the staff were friendly and helpful and hard working.
The food was tasty, plentiful and served with a smile.
Hotel bar was good value and possibly the cheapest in Sauze d' Olux. Afternoon snack served at the bar every day at about 3.30.
Separate ski and boot rooms with great boot heaters.
Close to lift, about 1min walk to magic carpet then ski down to lift.
Rooms a decent size with comfy beds and modern bathrooms.
I unreservedly recommend this hotel.
Andrew + Jim

Room Tip: I was in room 302 an have no complaints.

A very friendly, personal hotel offering guests a relaxed, well fed stay. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The accommodation is what you'd expect with daily room service. Situated within 50m of the chairlifts, is ideally located for the slopes and local bars and shops. The resort as a whole is well worth a trip, with prices realistic compared to other resorts. A great holiday, great hotel and great service by Crystal. Highly recommended.

We stayed here over Christmas for our skiing holiday. We've been to The resort Sauze many times but this was by far the best hotel we've stayed at here.
It should be higher than the three stars it's been awarded!
The staff could not do anything other than to help you. Nothing was an effort or a problem. Always smiling and happy to help.
The rooms were fine; a good size with shower en-suite. Bed was comfortable. I must admit I read reviews before going and remembered one 'complaining' about a room on the 4th floor with no heating. So when we were given our room on the 4th floor (!!) I was a tad apprehensive. When we came back to the room in the evening...the radiator wasn't working and the room was cold. Of course we mentioned this and the staff were brilliant. Very apologetic. They gave us blankets and because it was late there was nothing else. The next day when we came back from skiing the room was....hot! They had called in an engineer who had fixed the problem. It was perfect. The staff were so pleased that we were happy.

The food was good. Italian fare. Always well cooked; always nice and always filling. Service perfect. The Christmas Day meal was excellent.
Breakfast again was good and like many others have written watching the chef cook your eggs in front of you was a nice touch.
The bar was fine too; a nice range of beer reasonably priced.
If I have a slight winge; and it's slight; it would have been nice to have coffee at the table after dinner.

On the last day we had to check out early the Sunday morning. I wasn't expecting a proper breakfast...maybe a roll or cereal but no at 5am the full option was there. Impressive.

The hotel is in a perfect location; a short walk to the lift and a short walk into town.

A lovely place to stay. If given the option to stay here do so.

The Hotel is well located close (50 meter) to ski slope and the downtown area off Souze D'oulx (some 100-200m).

The room was newly renovated, and the cleaning standard was excellent. The staff was very service oriented and very helpful :-).

Breakfast was served as a nice buffet, that was nicely arranged with both Italian and continental breakfast options.

Wifi was free, but unfortunately only available in the reception area.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the side of hotel facing Sourze D'oulx. In this way you get the view of the...

This cosy hotel is very well situated close to the lift at the top of the town. Comfortable and clean with very friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them. I would highly recommend it, and will definitely choose this hotel if we returned to Sauze D'Oulx in the future.

I've given the hotel five stars as for what it is, it offers a real personal touch way beyond its 3 star grading (think UK 2 star).

I've just returned form a week at the Hotel Sauze as part of a Crystal Ski package so I can't comment on the cost however all of the previous reports are right. Firstly all of the staff are excellent and go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. Nothing appears to be too much trouble and they'll even teach you a bit of Italian. (In fact compared to many stays in France all of the Italians we met were friendly and actually seem pleased to see you and want you to have a good time). Their English is also excellent so don't let that put you off should you want to ring the hotel directly. Its hard to believe how hard they work.

The food was also excellent and plenty of it. There's a comprehensive breakfast buffet (eggs cooked to order) as well as what is effectively a four course evening meal as there is a help yourself buffet before your first course. There is a choice of three dishes per course which you need to choose the night before, which given the small budget they must operate on is quite understandable a really not a chore.

The rooms. Perfectly adequate. My daughter and I had a twin room (originally made up a double but very speedily sorted out once pointed out - we are talking less than 15 minutes). The ensuite shower was clean with plenty of hot water, in fact too hot at times. How often have you been to a hotel were you've had to turn the hot down after a days skiing - not many I suspect. Downside - yes the walls are thin but you'll only hear other people if you actively want to listen out for them. If you think this will bother you take ear plugs. I did but never actually felt the need to use them.

The bar. At reception there is a small bar and whilst lacking in apres atmosphere they do offer the cheapest drinks in town. They also provide tea and cake for when you get off the mountain. Oh did I mention the free wifi.

Finally the location - it is literally less than 50m from the bottom of the slopes at Clotes and that's as far as you'll need to walk as there is a travelator to take you up towards the first lift which you can then ski across to.

As you can tell we really enjoyed the hotel and the skiing and plan to return again.
