If it were possible to return to the most satisfying sensations of 1950, this would be the place to do it. From the moment you arrive there is a sense of relief from the pressure of 2012, underscored by both the warm welcome, fresh smells, wide planked hardwood floors, high ceilings, and agreeable antique furniture in the common areas, hallways, and bedrooms. This type of hotel is becoming increasingly more difficult to find, absent any contrivance, it is the real thing. Nothing is over-the top elaborate, it is comfortable and welcoming and perhaps slightly understated. The freshness that is characteristic of the air and flora of Liguria seems to permeate this sweet hotel that by its nature embraces its guests. Hotels in Italy especially pay extremely high taxes and they are under tremendous pressure to cut corners in order to keep their prices competitive. Many do this by eliminate the once sacrosanct breakfast, or worse by serving stale bread, fake sugar-water juice, and instant coffee. The owner of this hotel is under similar pressure but by her nature is determined and committed to being an incredible host whatever the cost. To say the visit would be worth it for the breakfast alone would not be an overstatement. Home-made jams, wonderful breads and pastries, fresh-squeezed orange-juice, and a delicious cappuccino served to you as if you were a family member in town for a visit. I have visited San Remo many times and this is a hidden gem.

Room Tip: With small hotels like this book directly with the hotel by e-mail or phone. They pay very high com...

Brilliant family run hotel with real charm. The staff were really friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble.

We were even upgraded to a sea view for free.

Highly recommended.

Hotel Belle Epoque is located in the centre of San Remo within easy walking distance of the beaches, shops and restaurants. We drove there and used the onsite parking which was an extra 7 EUR per night. The car park is very small so it is probably necessary to pre-book it at busy periods. It is also a little tricky to get into and out of however the owners will park the car for you if you are not confident. The hotel has three floors with the top most enjoying sea views. There is a lift to the first floor but only stairs to the upper floors. The owners were very helpful to us though and carried our quite heavy bags up to the second floor.

The room was a reasonable size. The hotel was renovated in 2008 so everything is in good condition. Internet access is available in the room for a small extra charge. The bed was nice and comfortable. The room contained a TV and minibar though we didn't make use of either.

Breakfast is included in the room rate and is pretty good. There is a reasonable selection of cold dishes, a few hot dishes and freshly pressed orange juice which was much appreciated.

The owners of the hotel were wonderful. We had a few things we needed to sort out in San Remo and they were extremely helpful. If we needed anything from them then they would rush along to help us and they were always very friendly and chatty. They also recommended a wonderful little restaurant in San Remo old town - called Equipe Gabri - for dinner that was perfect for our last night in Italy.

We had a very pleasant stay at Belle Epoque and would definitely stay there again on a future visit to San Remo.

Room Tip: Third floor has sea views

We stayed at this beautiful family-run hotel for one night. The hosts were so friendly and could not do enough to help us out. The hotel is located only a minute walk from the Casino and the main shopping street. The beach is a 2 minute walk and the old town is 5 minutes away. The hotel rooms were beautifully decorated with plenty of space and the ensuite had a good shower! Make sure to reserve parking as it can be difficult to get parking in the town. We would definately recommend this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: third floor rooms have the best sea views.

Just back from our trip which included 3 nights in Nice, 2 nights in Frejus and then over to San Remo by train to spend 2 nights, we entered Hotel Belle Epoque to an enthusiastic warm welcome...they say the Irish are friendly but we felt the Italians more then matched us on our stay here. This is a small Hotel but from the minute you enter the place, you feel and sense quality. Rooms are spacious, clean, air conditioned and comfortable. Wi Fii in all the rooms.......Breakfast was scrumptious........San Remo is a fabulous place...can't believe I had not heard more about it.....Will be going back and most definitely will be staying in the Bella Epoque.
Things to know.
It is about a 13 minute walk from rail station..if you have a lot of baggage...take a taxi.. approx 11 euros.........one very small criticism for the hotel...you need to put 1 English channel on the TV system.....Look forward to returning......................

This is a beautiful hotel, well taken care off. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The managers are warm and welcoming. They help you with all the information you need and are very helpfull. The breakfast is extended and delicious. Croissants don't have the strange taste you can find elsewhere in Italy. The location is perfectly situated in San Remo. perfect hotel for a family stay !
