“Good location, terrible sound proofing”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

We booked to stay here for five nights in Mid-late May. Looking forward to seeing the Italian Riviera, this hotel was a top rated one on trip advisor so we were happy to secure a room at a good rate.

I have to say though, we were sorely disappointed with Sanremo in general, and the room in our hotel (my fault I should have said something when we arrived). We checked out one day early.

The staff were by and large very friendly - our room was on the ground floor right near the reception, which meant we were awoken when the staff began their shifts - we could hear them talking and walking around on the concrete floors. It also seemed to be a conduit for people to talk in general and as I say, we should have asked to be moved but we didn't so my only observation here would be to ask for a quiet room.

Maybe it's because it wasn't full season yet but we liked the look of the hotel with its beach views and we wanted to do some sunbathing. The weather wasn't good enough to do that but if it had been good enough, the beach was closed and you couldn't swim in the sea - there were fences along the beach area and notices of no swimming - they were in Italian so no idea why.

The town itself has some beautiful flowers and great architecture - which large parts are covered by graffiti unfortunately.

It's a good job it wasn't full season because the smoke would have choked us out - it seemed everyone except us smoked. The staff at all the restaurants couldn't seem to wait to get you served so they could spark up and have another smoke.

We weren't impressed overall with the level of service in the restaurants or the food options - for such a large town there's a homogeneous feel to all the eateries. No live music or anything different from one place to the next.

Sit outside any location for about three minutes and two things will happen: 1) someone will come and smoke right near you and 2) someone will come and try and sell you something - every few minutes we got hassled by men selling umbrellas, watches, sewing kits, snide handbags, you name it. You have to be very assertive otherwise they pester you and it's best if the female tells them 'no' we had a couple get almost aggressive when we said no.

If you're OK with that and you don't mind the smoke, the hassle, and dogs in restaurants and dog excrement everywhere then maybe this is the town for you. But not us.

Room Tip: away from reception area

I ve been surprised by the location of the Hotel. Just two steps by the beach and less than 5 minutes walk by the old centre.
Besides the location, the staff and service was one of the best ever experienced. I recommend the trilocale seaview and a ride over the cycle-way over the coast.

The location and staff were great. Facilities clean, well-appointed comfortable apt. An air conditioner in living room and separate one in bedroom. Complimentary bikes. Rooftop deck. Wonderful location across from the beach. We were there off season so it was excellent value for money!!

What a great find. Recommended by neighbouring restaurant Antonios mini bar (which was fabulous by the way). We were welcomed by the handsome and charming Mateo (unsure of spelling sorry) and we were so pleased to be shown our room overlooking the sea. I just love the friendliness of this place and I will be sure to return just to experience the hospitality once again

Room Tip: Just get one overlooking the sea

We came home last week after a fortnight's stay. The Due Porti lived up to all of our expectations. The location is great, from the sea view to the town centre to something as simple as a supermarket around the corner. The bus station is pretty much across the road, while the train station is only about ten minutes walk away. The main drawback with our holiday was the weather, which was disappointing for the time of year. This meant we could not make full use of the balcony, as with the beautiful sea view sitting out on that would have been fantastic at night, but that was just bad luck! The apartments are immaculately clean when you arrive, and are kept that way for the duration of your stay. The recycling facility is a nice touch, and one I have never encountered before. The bathroom is a fine size, and, most importantly, has a great shower. The provision of towels is very regular and reliable. Also very worthy of note is the brilliant storage space: we were not only able to put all our clothes etc away, but the cases too!
I never found noise an issue. The staff are all fantastically friendly and on a number of issues we were helped greatly. As I didn't have any device bar my phone with me I didn't make much use of the broadband, so the computer available in the common room was handy, even if it is a tad dated.
You're right on the beach, yet still in the town, with plenty of bars and restaurants about you. All in all about the biggest fault I can think of is the kettle - it's tiny; but that's stretching it!
(Just an extra tip, if you are visiting the area, squeeze in Triora, a village up the mountains. Perhaps it's not the most obvious, but it is fabulous)
