We booked to stay here for five nights in Mid-late May. Looking forward to seeing the Italian Riviera, this hotel was a top rated one on trip advisor so we were happy to secure a room at a good rate.
I have to say though, we were sorely disappointed with Sanremo in general, and the room in our hotel (my fault I should have said something when we arrived). We checked out one day early.
The staff were by and large very friendly - our room was on the ground floor right near the reception, which meant we were awoken when the staff began their shifts - we could hear them talking and walking around on the concrete floors. It also seemed to be a conduit for people to talk in general and as I say, we should have asked to be moved but we didn't so my only observation here would be to ask for a quiet room.
Maybe it's because it wasn't full season yet but we liked the look of the hotel with its beach views and we wanted to do some sunbathing. The weather wasn't good enough to do that but if it had been good enough, the beach was closed and you couldn't swim in the sea - there were fences along the beach area and notices of no swimming - they were in Italian so no idea why.
The town itself has some beautiful flowers and great architecture - which large parts are covered by graffiti unfortunately.
It's a good job it wasn't full season because the smoke would have choked us out - it seemed everyone except us smoked. The staff at all the restaurants couldn't seem to wait to get you served so they could spark up and have another smoke.
We weren't impressed overall with the level of service in the restaurants or the food options - for such a large town there's a homogeneous feel to all the eateries. No live music or anything different from one place to the next.
Sit outside any location for about three minutes and two things will happen: 1) someone will come and smoke right near you and 2) someone will come and try and sell you something - every few minutes we got hassled by men selling umbrellas, watches, sewing kits, snide handbags, you name it. You have to be very assertive otherwise they pester you and it's best if the female tells them 'no' we had a couple get almost aggressive when we said no.
If you're OK with that and you don't mind the smoke, the hassle, and dogs in restaurants and dog excrement everywhere then maybe this is the town for you. But not us.
